Fallen Fate Online
162 Dark Sword
'Wow... I didn't realize Mr. Solomon was so strong... He's on Roland's level, maybe even higher? How is that possible?' Zayne inwardly muttered, looking at the headless spider. The monster was several times larger than Solomon, yet died from a single attack.
Solomon stared at the three-eyed monster as he pointed his staff at it, "I don't know where you came from, but it's time for you to leave this world, forever."
Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.
Electric sparks flew from Solomon's staff as he launched a massive lightning bolt at the monster that should have destroyed it instantly.
"Roooooaaaaaaarrrr!!!" The monster roared furiously, opening its jaw wide and swallowing the lightning like it was food too.
"What...? Is that possible?" Rea was puzzled as her eyes went wide.
"Well, he's already dead anyway." Solomon said confidently, watching the way the monster's body enlarged as if inflating from within.
In the midst of the black fur, veins appeared through which energy flowed chaotically, in the form of shimmering blue streaks that completely covered it.
Solomon returned the staff to its ring as he folded his arms behind his back, watching the last seconds of the monster's life.
"Absorbing my attack wasn't a bad idea, but you're too weak to withstand all its power, so... just die." Solomon calmly uttered when the monster reached its limit, blowing up.
Solomon didn't put up a protective barrier as he knew that the explosion wouldn't be very strong, however, something made him frown.
Whooooooooooooooooooosh.
The energy of the blast was directed at them like a stream, but it wasn't white like lightning, but blue and had no destructive power at all, making it much lighter.
Before Solomon could do anything, the stream passed through them. No one felt it, but as soon as they blinked, they noticed something.
"What? Where are we?" Lea muttered in confusion, looking around. They were still in the midst of the fog, but there was no destroyed carriage near them as well as spider corpses.
"Well, it looks like the energy of that monster was unusual. Anyway, it doesn't make much difference, let's move west. We have to save the students." Solomon said confidently as he turned to Zayne.
However, where Zayne had just been, there was a void. Solomon's eyes went wide when he realized that Zayne had not moved with them.
"Wait? What happened to Zayne? Where did he disappear to?" Rea asked with a worried expression, looking around.
Solomon sighed, "We won't find him anymore. The fog is especially thick here today, so... without knowing where we are we won't be able to get back. Instead, we should head for the split rock, that's the best we can do now."
"But... we can at least try, can't we?" Rea waved her hand, not wanting to agree with her father.
Solomon shook his head, "Don't be silly, Zayne can take care of himself. After all, he defeated Apostle, so this forest is unlikely to be a serious challenge for him. That's enough talk, we must help the students."
Solomon and Rea rushed forward. The coachman gulped as he quickly followed them, he had no desire to stay here alone.
...
Zayne slowly removed his hands, cautiously assessing the situation, then he realized that he was left in front of the carriage all alone and he was not hurt.
"How strange...? Why didn't this monster's attack work on me?" Zayne muttered in confusion.
He stepped forward, toward the monster corpse, which left only a black, viscous liquid and small blue particles floating in it.
Zayne had no trouble determining what it was, as he had felt similar things many times before.
'Fate energy... Wait... Why was there fate energy in this monster, yet it was so aggressive or even creepy?' Zayne pondered before he headed forward.
He did not know where to go, but sooner or later, he would have to leave the Mistylands, so without the obstacles he would be able to get to the academy.
Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.
Zayne walked past the dry mist-covered trees, long fallen branches breaking beneath his feet, giving off a muffled crackle that was the only sound for a long time.
"Holy... Shit..." Zayne stopped at the sight that gave him goosebumps.
In front of him was a huge hole from which it seemed someone had emerged some time ago, it was big enough to fit several houses in here. However, what shocked Zayne the most was what was at the bottom.
"Looks like someone managed to survive the dawn after all, doesn't it?" Zayne muttered thoughtfully, crouching on the edge and looking at the hundreds of animal corpses still bleeding to death.
"I thought only humans were awakened that night... but it looks like Fate betrayed the monsters, too." Zayne took a deep breath, "I don't know if the fog saved them from the sun or if they're just stronger, but it's definitely not good."
Whoooooooooooosh.
Zayne's ring flashed as a sword appeared in his hand. The seals sparkled as the bandages spread apart, revealing the dark blade of the sword with a dangerous sheen across it.
[Frightened Shadow (Rare)

"What an unusual weapon... It is slightly more powerful than my first sword but considerably inferior to the Thunder Hunter..." Zayne looked at the blade.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Many footsteps were heard as a spider appeared out of the mist, carrying another victim into the pit.
"Well, I guess I'll have to make my way through these woods in a bloody trail." Zayne frowned as he stared at another student that was trapped in the spider's jaws.
