From Flower Vase to Film Emperor in Hollywood
#1128 - Memory Fragment
Hiss.
The entire screening room instinctively held its breath, watching the big screen, the image of innocence intertwined with evil, bringing a powerful visual impact.
Only for a moment, Evan woke up, frantically dropping the knife, but he didn't remember what had just happened.
His condition seemed to be worsening, getting worse and worse.
Andrea needed to go to work, so she sent Evan to her friend George's house. George had two children, Keller and Tommy, who were Evan's classmates and usually played together. George was willing to help take care of Evan, which made Andrea breathe a long sigh of relief.
George bought a new camera, and he was preparing to make a movie starring Evan and Keller, which made Tommy very angry because he was supposed to be the lead, but George ignored him and stopped Tommy.
However, the blackout came again.
So dark?
Although the film's shots were very subtle and did not provide enough information, so that the guesses in the minds of every audience member continued to boil and surge; but obviously, those guesses were not positive or sunny.
In an instant, breathing stopped, and hearts were upset.
Nicholas realized that although Anson did not appear on the screen, the film grabbed attention with its plot—
The entire suspense/thriller atmosphere was excellent, immediately catching the eye.
Moreover, this thought only stayed in Nicholas's mind for a short time, then disappeared, swept into the big screen by the suspense of the plot.
The hospital test results came out, there was no damage, and the root cause of the disease could not be found. The doctor believed that it might be related to the lack of a father figure in Evan's life, which led to mental stress and intermittent memory loss.
This doctor was also Jason's attending doctor. He believed that with the help of medication, Jason could remain calm and meet Evan—
Perhaps, this could fill Evan's void and eliminate mental stress.
Evan finally met his father:
Wearing handcuffs and shackles, like a prisoner, in a depressing green room.
The first meeting was pleasant. Evan greedily and curiously looked at his father, starting the conversation with a little excitement, a little nervousness, and a little shyness.
However, the next second.
Evan could see Jason ferociously and grimly above him, his hands tightly clutching his throat, and he couldn't breathe.
Wh... what's going on?
"I'm going to kill you!"
Andrea rushed into the ward, and other hospital orderlies swarmed into the ward, trying to pull Jason away; but Jason frantically knocked them all away.
"He must die, it's the only way."
Andrea hugged Evan tightly, trying to escape, constantly retreating.
Jason seemed to be completely crazy, rushing up regardless, and the orderlies were completely unable to control this mad cow. Just as Jason was about to pounce on Andrea and Evan again, someone finally stopped him.
A muffled thud, hitting the back of Jason's head hard.
Jason fell in a pool of blood and never got up again.
The scene changed to a funeral.
Nicholas:…
He wanted to curse, but couldn't make a sound, his whole body was pressed firmly on the chair.
The entire screening room was silent.
The audience was completely unprepared. The dramatic tension of the film was so strong, and it left a series of questions. The suspenseful tension was continuously increasing the shocking impact. The Wilshire Theater screening room felt a little chilly.
As the plot progressed, more and more puzzle pieces appeared, but the doubts were not answered, but continued to increase. A storm was brewing.
Things were breaking Nicholas's guess—
Ten minutes should have passed, and Anson still hadn't appeared; however, the audience didn't complain, didn't regret, and didn't feel irritable, concentrating attentively on the film, and all kinds of thoughts continued to surge in their minds.
So, what was going on with Evan at the beginning of the film? Was he also in the hospital, like Jason? He seemed to be preparing to save someone, but what exactly was going on?
The story of the seven-year-old ended there, with a period.
The story of the thirteen-year-old, six years later, was still full of dramatic tension.
Evan, Keller, Tommy, and their school friend Lanny, were still friends, still mischievously messing around together as usual.
Tommy found a detonator hidden by his father George in the basement, and called his friends to play a prank, forcing Lanny to put the detonator in the neighbor's mailbox.
But he didn't expect the prank to go wrong—
The neighbor happened to come out to get the mail from the mailbox and was blown over by the detonator.
Evan blacked out again. He didn't know what happened at all. When he came back to his senses, they were in the woods. Lanny was paralyzed on the ground, Tommy was roaring and shouting, and Keller was at a loss and didn't know what to do.
In the end, Lanny was also taken to the ambulance, and the entire neighborhood was in chaos.
However, Evan still didn't understand what was going on. He tried to record the few remaining fragmented memories in a diary, hoping to help.
As he wrote, the ballpoint pen ran out of ink.
Evan rummaged through the attic and accidentally found a metal toolbox hidden by Jason, which contained a pile of inexplicable sundries:
A pile of Polaroid photos, but the content of the photos were all meaningless garbage.
A death certificate, belonging to his grandfather, who also seemed to have died in a mental hospital.
Evan didn't think much about it and hurriedly packed up all the sundries.
Andrea suggested that Evan undergo hypnosis treatment, hoping that Evan could awaken the memory of the blackout after detonating the detonator that day.
Unexpectedly, this also turned into a disaster.
Evan didn't awaken too many memories, but instead started to have nosebleeds, seemed to be suffering great pain, and was on the verge of collapse. The doctor finally managed to lift the hypnosis, but Evan had no memory of waking up—
He still didn't understand what happened on the day of the mailbox explosion.
Lanny was hospitalized, and his condition was unknown.
When Evan, Keller, and Tommy went to the cinema to watch a movie, Keller was uneasy, and Tommy kept cursing and humiliating Keller, which made Evan unable to control himself and started questioning them about what happened that day.
Bang!
Tommy, who was short and small, only reached Evan's chest in height, but his eyes burst out with a murderous aura, grabbing Evan's chest and pushing him against the wall. Those eyes seemed to be able to swallow Evan alive.
"Don't ever mention that damn thing again!"
"Ever!"
Word by word, gnashing his teeth, Tommy's eyes were full of madness.
Things seemed to be getting out of control; but Evan was always shrouded in a cloud of mystery.
