From Flower Vase to Film Emperor in Hollywood
#1387 - Happy
Clang!
A muffled sound as his knee struck the ground, a dull ache spreading through his thigh and calf muscles, seemingly able to clearly sense the distribution of pain nerves.
Anson raised his right hand to stop Lucas, not speaking, just taking deep breaths to regulate his breathing.
Weightlessness.
Just now, Anson felt weightless, something he hadn't experienced in his dreams; whether he was wrestling or falling into water, he never felt the pull of gravity, until now.
The moment he fell, the chaos of gravity caused his heart to slam heavily against the ground.
Or perhaps, just now was the dream, and now he was finally back in reality.
This, was reality.
Closing his eyes, Anson could feel the eager and anxious gazes on him, but the heart stuck in his throat slowly returned to his chest, and the line between reality and dream seemed to become clear again.
"I'm fine, don't worry, I'm okay, just a bit weak after waking from a nightmare, no need to be nervous, please let me keep a little dignity, otherwise I won't be able to hold my head up."
A joke and a jest, readily diffusing the atmosphere, allowing the air to relax slightly, and Charles and Nora's facial lines softened.
Only Lucas was the exception.
Lucas noticed that Anson's hands supporting him on the ground were trembling slightly, using all his strength to barely support his body, exposing his emptiness and exhaustion.
Clearly, Anson had had a nightmare last night, a terrible nightmare, definitely not as simple as Anson said, which made Lucas's brow furrow with worry.
Anson eventually relied on his own strength to stand up, staggering into the bathroom, turning on the faucet, the sound of rushing water slowly filling the entire space, his chaotic thoughts gradually calming down, and only then did he notice that his clothes were already soaked, as if he had really crawled out of the sea.
Closing his eyes, his heart was still pounding, his brain a jumbled mess.
Nightmare.
He really hadn't had a nightmare in a long time, when was the last nightmare?
He once thought that the nightmares of his previous life had long passed, but he didn't expect that they would resurface again because of the filming of "Singing Together," which was an accident.
Entering the bathtub, he took a shower and soaked for a while, the tense muscles slowly relaxing, and his thoughts, scattered like the wind, seemed to finally settle down.
Then, he put on a bathrobe and pushed open the bathroom door, only to see the meerkats in the living room all turn around and look over at him.
Anson looked a little helpless, "I'm already an adult, please give me some privacy, okay?"
With a small joke, Charles laughed, "Haven't you walked the runway in Paris before? Isn't changing clothes under the spotlight something you've already experienced?"
"That's work. Work!"
Whether it was because of last night's nightmare, or because the Wood family was all present, Anson's usual quick wit seemed to have diminished.
Turning to go change clothes, he heard Lucas calmly add from the side, "He should clean up properly, he went straight to sleep after being drunk the day before yesterday without washing, and it looks like he didn't wash before going to bed last night either."
Charles, "Ah, when did Anson become so unhygienic? I remember Anson wasn't like this before, Hollywood is really a melting pot."
"Anson, why don't you stop messing around in Los Angeles and come back to New York."
Anson changed into a T-shirt and casual slacks, returned to the living room, and had returned to normal, his eyes sweeping over his three family members before finally landing on Charles.
"Did Lucas tell you something?"
Charles immediately panicked, "No, no, definitely not, we just came to see you, yes, see you."
Anson sat down on the sofa with ease, "The three of you appearing together in Las Vegas, and looking at me with such worried expressions, you want me to believe nothing happened?"
"Dad, you still can't lie."
Charles instantly straightened his back, sitting upright, trying to put on a poker face.
"You see, you've already participated in so many productions in Hollywood, but we've never visited the set, that's not good. So we came."
Nora kept smiling and glared at Charles.
Charles nodded repeatedly, "Yes, yes, that's right."
Anson meaningfully sized up his father and mother, "Really?"
Nora met Anson's gaze, "What, you don't like us visiting the set? Is it unprofessional? Lucas, are you interfering with Anson's work on set again?"
Lucas didn't argue, his face was obedient, looking like he was at their disposal.
This back-and-forth, although not very skilled, Nora finally managed to smooth things over.
Anson glanced at Lucas meaningfully, although he didn't believe a word of it, he felt that Lucas was one hundred percent worried about his situation, so he called his parents over, but he didn't know how to explain—
I'm fine I'm fine I'm fine, even if he repeated it a hundred times, they wouldn't believe it.
It's better to be calm, they'll know he's really okay when they see it with their own eyes.
Speak with facts.
Thinking of this, Anson didn't continue to dwell on it, seeming to believe Nora, "Welcome, of course welcome, as long as you don't find it boring."
"Set work, 80% of the time is spent waiting, it's actually quite boring."
Anson looked at Charles, "Dad, do you have a few days off this time, no projects?"
Charles cleared his throat, "No, no projects, I happen to be free recently. I thought, I might as well take a vacation for a while, and I can also spend time with your mom."
Anson gently raised his chin, he could be sure and certain that they had rushed over, in front of him, Charles could never hide his emotions.
Moreover, how could Charles have no projects?
Hollywood's biggest lack is not stupid people with money, the huge success of a movie instantly makes them millionaires, the ecstasy of getting rich overnight always easily makes people lose their way, and their squandering is Charles's job opportunity.
But Anson didn't say much, no matter what, having his family come to his work site, this matter was not on Anson's wish list but was still worth being happy about.
"Okay, Lucas, what's the plan for today, do I need to take my parents to tour the set?"
Lucas quietly hid his worries in his eyes, gently raised his chin, "This is your territory, of course it should be up to you."
Nora was still more rational, "We won't affect your work, will we?"
Anson took a deep breath, "Don't worry, if it affects it, I'll scream loudly."
"Now, why don't we go take a stroll around the set, while the preparation work is still in progress, it might be more troublesome when the filming gets going later."
Anson stood up, looking eager to try, which made Nora and Charles also relax slightly, and they became faintly excited.
