From Flower Vase to Film Emperor in Hollywood
#390 - Body and Mind Baptism
The atmosphere was slightly tense.
The driver stole a glance, then, seeing Anson still standing there, hurriedly retracted his gaze, doing his best to hide his presence, until his last shred of arrogance was extinguished.
At this moment, Anson didn't continue to be relentless. He glared at the man, turned around, and walked back to the old lady, quickly gathering her belongings, stuffing them into the brown paper bag, and handing it to her.
The car sped away from the scene, its taillights revealing the driver's panic.
The briefly congested traffic finally resumed, and Anson stood by the roadside, loudly offering an "apology" to the drivers stuck behind.
After a short while, Anson turned his gaze back to the old lady.
The old lady's hands and feet were still unsteady. She hugged the paper bag but couldn't quite adjust its position, and it looked like it was about to fall again. Anson quickly stepped forward to help her steady it.
The old lady looked at Anson.
"Thank you, I'm sorry, I mean, thank you, really."
The old lady was flustered, unsure whether to apologize or express gratitude. Her trembling voice was filled with guilt and unease.
Anson waved his hand. "It's nothing."
"Everyone makes mistakes sometimes and needs help sometimes. It's normal. There's no need to feel guilty about such a small thing."
The old lady nodded slightly, took out two oranges from the paper bag, and handed them to him.
Anson was taken aback for a moment, but he didn't refuse. He politely accepted them. "Then I won't be polite." Then, he looked around. "Would you like me to find a taxi for you?"
The old lady shook her head repeatedly. "My home is just around the corner…"
The scene before him was a little funny.
Reason finally returned to his body—
He was Anson, Anson Wood, and this was his second life. There was no need to deny those memories, but there was also no need to be hurt by them again, because those scars and setbacks were what made him who he was now.
Just like today.
It was because of those experiences in his previous life that he was able to feel the beauty and charm of method acting for the first time, and to experience the joy of being an actor again.
Wonderfully indescribable.
He shouldn't and didn't need to escape, and there was no need to be afraid and hurt. Instead, he should face it bravely and embrace those past darknesses.
Whether it was filming or the boy, they were all brand new stories, and the past would not repeat itself.
To take a step back, even if it happened again, he was no longer a novice, was he?
Involuntarily, Anson looked around again, trying to find the figures of the boy and the woman, but there was only the bustle of the street.
Perhaps they would never meet again, but Anson just wanted to tell the boy: this wasn't the end, and it shouldn't be the end.
He breathed a sigh of relief, finally regaining his senses.
Then, Anson realized that he had rushed out so rashly, and the entire crew must have been frightened. He didn't know what the director would say.
Rarely, Anson scratched his head a little.
He instructed one of the staff members to personally escort the old lady to her home around the corner. He said goodbye to the old lady in a hurry and then ran back with the others.
"Slow down, Anson, slow down."
"I'll notify the director that we've found you now. There's no need for you to be so anxious."
The staff member who was left behind breathed a long sigh of relief, feeling fortunate. He had thought that staying behind was a chore, but now it seemed like a lucky break.
"Young man, who is he? He looks like a very busy person."
"Oh, Anson? He's an actor. We're working on a film crew."
"Anson?"
"Wood. Anson Wood."
Although he didn't jog all the way, Anson still returned to the set as quickly as possible.
As soon as he entered, Anson apologized repeatedly, which surprised the staff on set. This short ten minutes this afternoon had been too exciting.
First, Anson's "one more take" caused the entire crew to become angry. Then, Anson's excellent performance turned the tide and conquered the entire audience. Finally, Anson's sudden actions caused the crew to fall into chaos.
This?
Then, someone couldn't help but complain, "Which thing are you apologizing for?"
The words were barbed, but there was no real hostility.
Anson looked over in the direction of the voice. "The first round of drinks after work tonight is on me."
Perfect answer—
For the crew members, going home wasn't the first choice after work. The bar was. No one could refuse a beer after work.
Roar.
Someone cheered immediately.
Anson added, "Tomorrow's afternoon tea is also on me. Everyone, order whatever you like."
Roar, roar, roar.
A complete turnaround in one second. Everyone laughed and cheered, and the atmosphere was really lively.
Anson didn't stop and walked straight to the monitor to find the director.
Steven hadn't planned to scold Anson. There was no need. He was too busy praising him. He had planned to take the responsibility on himself, treat the crew, and do Anson a favor. Although he didn't need to worry about the kids, Anson was different.
But he hadn't expected this.
Seeing this scene, Steven smiled and couldn't help but make a joke. He folded his arms, pulled a long face, and looked serious.
"So, what about me?"
Anson looked at Steven and smiled. "Director, please forgive me."
As he spoke, he extended his right hand.
Steven:?
Steven opened his right hand, and Anson placed something on it.
An orange.
Steven couldn't keep up with the pace, his face full of confusion. "What's this again?"
Anson held up the other orange in his hand. "An unexpected reward from an angel. Director, thank you for your hard work."
Steven was stunned. He didn't know what this guy was talking about, but looking at the orange that had inexplicably appeared in his hand, the only ones who had one were him and Anson, which was obviously special. It was both absurd and funny, and a smile crept onto his lips.
Then.
Anson leaned towards Steven. "Director, do we need to do it again?"
He was asking about the effect of the previous take.
Honestly, Anson was completely immersed in the role and didn't know what had happened outside, so he still needed to confirm with the director.
The positions were now switched.
Anson felt that he had held nothing back and released himself 100%, but if the director still thought it wasn't good enough or thought the previous version was better…
After all, the director's and the actor's perspectives were very different, and the director's opinion should still be the standard.
Steven glanced at Anson. It was rare to see a hint of apprehension in this young man. He had originally wanted to tease Anson, but he didn't realize that the corners of his mouth were rising, and the words he spoke were a little cheerful.
"It's good. Keep it up. We should prepare for the next camera angle."
Even Steven himself didn't realize that he was faintly starting to look forward to it.
The smile on Anson's lips spread completely. He turned around, looked at the crowded people in the small apartment, and spread his arms, as if making a declaration.
"Very good, did you hear that? Prepare for the next camera angle, and let's move towards getting off work!"
Boom.
The whole place burst into laughter, applause, and whistles. It was extremely lively.
