From Flower Vase to Film Emperor in Hollywood
#507 - City of Sound
That figure was somewhat unfamiliar. Harry had to delve deep into his memories to find even a vague outline.
Wavy, golden-brown hair, almost shoulder-length, hung down in a messy, casual manner. A scruffy stubble covered most of his cheeks. If he were wearing a hat and sunglasses, he could easily pass for a wanted criminal on TV. At this moment, he looked no different from a homeless person.
But, despite the unfamiliarity, there was something vaguely familiar about him.
Harry paused slightly. Could that be… Connor?
…Connor, what was his last name again?
Harry wasn't entirely sure of the name, but he was the bassist who performed with Anson on "The Tonight Show." He was deeply impressed by his fretless bass. When people paid attention to a band, they usually focused on the lead singer or the guitarist, but Harry knew that the bass was the overlooked soul.
Therefore, he was deeply impressed.
Two people connected to Anson, yet seemingly unrelated to each other, appearing in the same frame. Was this normal? Or was it simply that he was too eager to find Anson, so he was connecting everything himself? Perhaps the two of them hadn't even seen each other.
Wait, Connor had stopped. Was he waiting for Chris?
Connor and Chris, did they know each other? Had they met at a party because of Anson? Or perhaps…
Tap, tap!
A knock on the driver's side window exploded like a thunderclap, abruptly interrupting his thoughts. Harry's heart stopped for a moment, and he turned his head sharply, only to see a bright smiling face waving at him—
“Good morning!”
Ghost!
Half of Harry's soul was scared right out of him. The scream that had just reached his throat was swallowed back down, and his body went limp as he slumped back in his seat, staring blankly at the face outside the window.
Before him was a handsome face, but slightly different from what he remembered. Short, blue stubble, like the shadows at four in the afternoon, delicately outlined the curves of his jaw and face, slightly scruffy, revealing a hint of rebelliousness and wildness. A black baseball cap was worn backwards on his head, with a few playful strands of hair peeking out, revealing a full and broad forehead.
The same, yet not the same.
As his gaze swept over the face, even Harry couldn't help but doubt himself, “Is that… Anson…?”
After all, this image was so different from "The Princess Diaries" and "Spider-Man"; in a completely different way, it brought a mature and wild unique charm.
Perhaps, only those eyes, clear and azure blue eyes, were still familiar.
Hallucination, was this a hallucination?
Harry closed his eyes tightly, trying to take a deep breath and regain his sanity, but the next second he heard a muffled greeting from outside the car window.
“Hey, Kevin.”
Nightmare.
The nightmare had returned!
This time, Harry could be one hundred percent sure that he wasn't seeing things—
Outside the car window, it was indeed Anson.
But the question was, why was Anson here?
Even though Harry had been desperately searching for Anson, he began to regret it when he actually saw him. He felt like he had opened a Pandora's box.
He knew he should open his eyes, but honestly, he didn't have the courage. He suddenly felt that the driver's seat seemed a little warm.
“Kevin, you can't park here, you might be blocking other vehicles; you'd better move before the traffic police show up.”
“But, it's very nice to see you.”
Happy?
How could that be!
Harry cursed inwardly, and only when there was no more sound outside the car window did he cautiously open his eyes, hurriedly looking around, and then he saw Anson walking towards Chris and Connor—
That back view was definitely unmistakable.
Slender, upright, well-proportioned, even just his back was captivating.
Damn it!
Anson was actually here. They had searched all of Los Angeles, but never imagined that Anson was hiding right under their noses.
But, why?
But… why hadn't any paparazzi noticed this place? Why did they search all of Los Angeles and yet miss this area? Why was Anson here?
Questions, unanswered, only grew more and more.
Moreover, judging from Anson's actions just now, he was generous and upright, without any concealment or hiding, it didn't seem like he was trying to avoid the media at all. It was in line with the image from that "New York Times" interview. Anson did indeed always show his true self.
So, was it all just their own wild thoughts?
But, Anson had appeared so openly, yet no one had surrounded him?
No, the question marks were about to explode his head.
While he was thinking, Anson turned around, said a few words to Chris and Connor, and then pointed to Harry's location.
Uh, this…
Hide, or not hide?
Harry was a little helpless. When dealing with other actors, the paparazzi always hid in the dark, aiming their camera lenses at them, making them embarrassed; but when dealing with Anson, he was always exposed in the open, how was he supposed to do his job!
His movements were only slightly slower, but Harry had already missed the opportunity to hide.
Even Anson took the initiative to wave to Harry, and Chris and Connor also nodded awkwardly in greeting.
It was clear that Chris and Connor were slightly restrained, with shock, surprise, and unexpectedness. They were all worried that they had revealed their whereabouts and attracted the paparazzi.
But Anson didn't mind.
Although they were far apart and couldn't hear Anson's words at all, it could be seen from Anson's hearty expression and relaxed movements that he was comforting Chris and Connor. It seemed that he had never planned to hide his whereabouts, and he was not surprised by the appearance of the paparazzi.
In fact, Anson even turned to look at Harry and shouted, “Kevin, thanks for your hard work!”
This scene was clearly about introducing his friends to each other.
Harry: Couldn't smile, really. I'm not Kevin, good heavens, I'm not working hard at all! What exactly was going on with this scene?
Fortunately, Anson didn't stay for long, and he turned around and walked towards the gray building diagonally ahead with Chris and Connor, chatting and laughing, without being affected by the appearance of the paparazzi, leaving Harry in place in a harmonious atmosphere.
Harry was stunned—
It wasn't until this moment that he recognized that the inconspicuous building was clearly Sound City!
Wait, Sound City?
Anson was actually in Sound City? The Sound City that had recorded countless legendary albums?
It turned out that when the whole world was looking for Anson, Anson was actually in Sound City!
This was really… damn it!
