Game of Thrones: I Created the Magic Web

#112 - Resurrection from the dead

The events at Wendwater Bridge had occurred two weeks prior, and of course, Joffrey and Aylin's network of spies would not have missed it.

In fact, today's petition was not a beginning, but the final conclusion.

However, before announcing the answer, Joffrey wanted to hear the ministers' opinions again, "Tyrion, what do you think?"

Inside the white virtual space, Joffrey looked at Tyrion, who had transformed into a normal human height.

With the power of magic, the online Small Council was almost like another world. With a thought, one could control the projections here to make various actions and reactions, while still being able to continue activities in reality, essentially possessing two bodies that did not interfere with each other.

Tyrion, having been called upon, felt helpless.

Although he knew that the King had certainly made a decision, and it was almost impossible to change it, he could only control the projection to speak:

"Wendwater Bridge and Massey's Hook are not essential locations to fight over. Renly, disregarding his past reputation for benevolence, had his men commit such acts, indicating that he must have significant schemes."

In reality, Joffrey looked at the crowd below, his face serious in thought.

Indeed, before this, everyone thought Renly would strike directly at King's Landing. Lord Massey and Lord Wendwater probably never imagined that their territories would be completely destroyed.

Tyrion continued, "Renly's move seems intended to lure our army south. After all, his fleet is weak, and the Blackwater Rush is an unavoidable obstacle for the southern rebels. Once a battle starts in the south, it will undoubtedly be more advantageous to the rebels, who have a large number of land troops."

Very reasonable, the ministers pondered.

Tyrion manipulated the light screen, projecting a three-dimensional, exquisite map onto the floor of the white space.

"Please look, everyone. If our army were to go south to support Massey's Hook, not only would the Kingswood be vast and difficult to traverse, making it prone to ambushes, but Renly's troops stationed at Bronzegate and Haystack Hall are also not far away, and could reach Wendwater Bridge in a day, cutting off our army's retreat."

Tyrion pointed to the Bitterbridge further west, "If the cavalry were to advance at full speed, it would only take four or five days to reach the Kingswood from Bitterbridge, a week for elite infantry, and two weeks for peasant soldiers."

"If our army were to get entangled at Massey's Hook, and the rebel army from Bitterbridge were to arrive, sealing off Wendwater Bridge and the Kingswood. By then, Wendwater Bridge, Haystack Hall, Harvest Hall, and Blackwater Bay would surround our army around Massey's Hook, like a gradually tightening noose. Why would we want to walk into it?"

"Even if we retreat back to King's Landing before the rebel army from Bitterbridge arrives, it would still affect morale to some extent, wasting energy in vain."

Moreover, Wendwater Bridge was already a ruin. Even if they immediately supported Massey's Hook, it would be too late by the time they arrived, at most they could only gain hundreds of thousands of hungry mouths, and these wouldn't need to be taken by force, Renly would send them to their doorstep himself.

Tyrion drew a circle around the Kingswood, "Renly can only wreak havoc on this area."

"Wendwater Bridge and Massey's Hook are beyond saving. The Kingswood is sparsely populated, and the rest of the Crownlands are under the protection of King's Landing, so the rebels cannot repeat their trick."

Tyrion summarized.

"This is a very obvious trap, and there will be no further losses. We should not rashly go south, it's best to defend King's Landing. Can the rebels keep lingering in the south forever?"

As for the petitioning lords, they would have to be compensated after the victory, according to their own requests.

At the Small Council's table in the Throne Room, Tyrion expressed with admiration, "Lord Wendwater, Lord Massey, you two are truly models of nobility, willing to sacrifice personal interests for the sake of the country's overall situation. I sincerely admire you."

In the white space and the Throne Room, Joffrey remained silent.

Ser Jaime Lannister, the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, objected in the white space, "Renly is burning, killing, and looting within the Crownlands, how can we turn a blind eye?"

"The number of rebels is indeed large, but that's all they have."

Jaime had great confidence in the power of King's Landing, "Massey's Hook is indeed dangerous for ordinary armies. But the Holy Warriors created by the Grace of the Gods are no ordinary troops, the balance of war has completely changed!"

In these days, Jaime had personally experienced the power of the Grace of the Gods.

"With just a few thousand Holy Warriors, Renly's army will immediately disintegrate, like Aegon the Conqueror's 'Field of Fire'!".

In fact, Tyrion also felt this deeply.

The power of magic was spreading too quickly, unfathomable, leaving people only in awe.

But to what extent could it achieve? How does it compare to Aegon's dragons?

Tyrion chose to give the most cautious answer.

If the effect of magic was indeed unparalleled, then defending King's Landing would still not cause any hindrance to victory.

If the effect was not as expected, defending King's Landing would still be the least bad decision.

The Hound was convinced of the power of magic, "Renly's swords are not worth mentioning, give me five hundred Holy Warriors, and I guarantee that none of the bastards at Massey's Hook will escape! The Stormland rebels won't be able to stop us either!"

Grand Maester Hannah raised a new issue.

"What should we do with the refugees entering King's Landing? The current food supply can only support five to six hundred thousand people. If this continues, the Red Keep's granaries will have to be opened."

Hannah, who was in charge of the logistics department, had become the minister most concerned about food.

Aylin said, "Why not check the city gates more strictly, let the refugees outside go further north to make a living, and arrange jobs for the refugees inside the city, doesn't the Engineering Bureau need people?"

Tyrion waved his hand, "No, the Engineering Bureau already has enough people, they've recruited 20,000 people now, definitely enough."

Joffrey finally asked, "Has the eastern half of the city not been cleared yet?"

Today was already August 10th, and the second round of clearing work in King's Landing had ended a few days ago, clearing out many more suspicious people and properties. But it was still not enough to compensate for half of King's Landing.

Tyrion had been worried about this task for a long time, almost to the point of wanting to quit. Unfortunately, this thought could only be a thought.

"Your Majesty, it will still take some time." Tyrion could only admit the current situation.

"War can break out at any time, the gold dragons in the treasury cannot be easily used. I can only try to exchange industries and promises for the eastern half of the city, but this method is obviously not useful for everyone."

Tyrion could understand those people's feelings.

Abandoning the industry they rely on for a living or the homes of generations, even bright gold dragons may not satisfy everyone, let alone another unfamiliar house or empty promises.

But would the willful King tolerate their resistance?

Joffrey pondered silently.

Tyrion acted cautiously, Aylin and Hannah performed their duties, Jaime and the Hound advocated attacking, and Grand Maester Pycelle remained silent. And there was the dragging eastern half of the city.

Joffrey stood up from the Iron Throne.

Everyone in the Throne Room instantly quieted down, paying attention to the King.

Joffrey looked to the courtiers on the left, "Lord Beric Dondarrion, give you two hundred Holy Warriors, depart tomorrow to Massey's Hook, punish the thugs, enforce the law, and spread justice."

Joffrey looked to the right again, "Thoros of Myr, you will assist him."

Thoros of Myr, the red priest of the Lord of Light, and Lord Dondarrion of Blackhaven, the same combination, different circumstances, will the power of the Lord of Light to resurrect the dead appear again?
