Chapter 199: The Military Parade

All eyes were on them.

A hundred Six-Starred Silver Robes emerged from the Kingsguard, extending their hands to press against the walls and ground of Highgarden.

Most people were clueless.

Margaery had a guess in her heart. She gently twisted her body, looking back at Joffrey, who was holding her, "Your Majesty, is this going to be a performance of that magical power?"

"It's more than just a performance."

Joffrey leaned close to her ear.

The girl carried a faint rose fragrance, as well as another unique, indescribable sweet scent, similar to but different from the scents of Hanna, Sansa, and Daenerys.

"You'll know when you see it."

The sunlight was bright, but the girl in front of him was cold, making him want to get closer.

And he did just that.

With a bear hug, the petite girl was melted into his arms, as if being pressed under him.

The "Queen of Thorns" cast a sharp gaze from the side, and Joffrey couldn't help but drive the reins forward a few steps to avoid that strange discomfort.

The warlocks began to channel energy together.

Boom ~ ~ ~

A low buzzing vibration came from the ground, as if accumulated magma was about to erupt, as if thousands of cavalry were charging towards them in unison.

People whispered, feeling deeply uneasy.

"Prepare to advance!" Kingsguard Commander "Ironhand" Jacelyn Bywater issued the order.

The Kingsguard waiting outside the city moved quickly in units of ten by ten squares, eventually forming a large rectangle with two squares in parallel and seven squares in length.

Another hundred or so people stayed near the baggage carts on the outermost side, not joining the formation.

The onlookers quickly noticed something was wrong.

Twenty people in a row, that's much wider than the city gate, how could they pass through?

"Ironhand" seemed oblivious, and did not change the instructions or slow down the pace, but shouted sternly: "Forward ~ march!"

Fourteen squares marched out at the same time.

Stomp! Stomp! Stomp!

The audience was shocked and immediately clicked their tongues.

When had they ever seen such a beautiful march? No one could remain unmoved by such a neat, unified, and high-spirited marching posture.

The noble ladies who didn't understand military affairs watched the excitement, at least finding it pleasing to the eye.

The knights and lords who were good at fighting were even more shocked. They knew that if the army could maintain this strict discipline and formation in battle, whether for attack or defense, it would definitely be an invincible existence at the same level.

Can it be used for combat?

Looking at the expressions and eyes of these soldiers, no one thought it was just for show.

Some lords raised a group of elite soldiers themselves, kept them by their side, and trained them rigorously, but neither in number nor ability were they as good as the army in front of them.

Moreover, the total number of this "Kingsguard" was more than just these, as many as tens of thousands?

Many people secretly sighed that even if the king's power was only these, it would probably be enough to defend the Iron Throne's majesty and make the Seven Kingdoms submit.

Everyone's eyes moved with the advancing Kingsguard towards the walls of Highgarden.

Closer and closer, closer and closer.

It's going to crash!

Many people already looked anxious, watching the foremost square not stop or slow down, really wanting to shout to stop them.

Crack ~ ~

After a crisp sound of mountain rock breaking, there was silence.

Everyone's expression was dull.

Margaery covered her small mouth and let out a suppressed exclamation, her big eyes blinking non-stop, her eyes full of surprise and curiosity.

Stomp! Stomp! Stomp!

The two Kingsguard squares at the very front steadily crossed the city wall that took the initiative to give way and entered Highgarden.

The "Queen of Thorns" looked serious, unconsciously squeezing out a face full of deep wrinkles. She leaned on her crutches and stared closely at the strange changes in Highgarden.

The opened city gate inexplicably became much larger, and the two heavy wooden doors moved to both sides along with the solid city walls, making the gap in the middle bigger and bigger, higher and higher.

Seeing the reactions of the people around her, the "Queen of Thorns" understood that she was not seeing things.

This is the truth!

Lady Olenna Tyrell looked up, the gatehouse above the city gate moved to one side of the city wall, and the original position became a vacant sky.

This city wall was completely turned into open space.

How wide? Enough for dozens or hundreds of people to pour into Highgarden at the same time, hot oil can't be poured that far, catapults can't throw that close, and the power of arrows is not enough to wipe out all enemies.

How long? It extends straight from the Kingsroad outside Highgarden to inside Highgarden, and a charge can break through the defense line.

And it's getting longer and longer…

Margaery shook Joffrey's arm, pouting her lips aggrievedly: "The gardens have been demolished, and the bare stairs are not good-looking at all."

The warlock was renovating the road inward along the breach of the city gate, and the maze of plants along the way had become steps.

Joffrey smiled faintly, "It's nothing, after we visit Highgarden, I'll have them restore it to its original state, nothing will change."

Margaery just sighed at him, her emotions completely exposed.

Joffrey lovingly rubbed the girl's hair, reached out and pointed to the sky, "Don't be sad, there's another surprise for you. Right now, look at the sky."

Margaery leaned on his shoulder and raised her eyes.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

A series of explosions came from behind, and white shadows streaked arcs into the sky.

Dong! Dong! Dong!

The salutes exploded into brilliant red, gold, black, and emerald fireworks in the sky above Highgarden, still clearly visible even in the daylight.

Margaery murmured softly: "So beautiful."

Using artillery as a base, and adding the set light magic energy, it is easy to explode any pattern.

Joffrey was also immersed in the fireworks feast.

Dong!

This one is a scarlet multi-ring, engraved with complex and mysterious ornamentation spells.

Dong! Dong!

The dark black strong stag gently sniffs a golden rose.

Dong! Dong! Dong!

The golden sword is inserted on the red meteor and falls to the cyan land.

Dong…

The sound vibrates all around, and the light shines on the earth.

People all over Highgarden can enjoy this unprecedented visual feast.

However, people's moods are different.

Stomp! Stomp! Stomp!

Along the constantly extending steps, the Kingsguard went all the way forward until they reached the ancient tower in the very center of Highgarden before they were willing to stop.

The artillery fire finally stopped.

The atmosphere of silence and surprise lasted for a long time.

Joffrey drove his horse to the "Queen of Thorns", "I like your honor guard very much. I wonder if you are satisfied with the surprise I offered, Lady Olenna."

Olenna Tyrell sighed leisurely, "Satisfied, how can I not be satisfied with such a unique and moving picture."

"Your Majesty has taken the trouble."

Joffrey tightened the girl in his arms, "For my lovely queen, anything is worth it."

"Margaery," he put his chin on the girl's shoulder, "Say goodbye to Grandma, and then take me for a good tour of Highgarden."

Margaery winked at her grandmother, "Don't worry, we are all safe."

Lady Olenna nodded with emotion.

Joffrey kicked the horse's belly, entered Highgarden along the steps, and gradually disappeared into the depths of the garden…
