Game of Thrones: Lord of Winter

Chapter 77: Attack on the Camp

The horses' hooves were brisk, and they were traveling around the imperial forest.

They were riding mountain ponies, and there were more than a hundred people, hiding in the bushes like ghosts in the forest.

Suddenly, a figure was seen moving in front of them, and a small group of cavalrymen of three or five people came here.

The leader was wearing dark green leather armor, a half helmet on his head, and a gray cloak. He looked around and seemed to have found something unusual. Just as he was about to shout, he heard the sound of an arrow breaking through the air.

He hesitated and found himself speechless. He then realized that the arrow had already pierced his throat.

There were many ghosts in the forest, and a shadow came from all directions. Soon they were surrounded.

The leader died so suddenly that even his accomplices did not have time to be surprised.

The leader who emerged from the forest was wearing a black leather armor. Under the leather armor, interlocking chains could be vaguely seen, and his silver hair was eye-catching. The horse under his crotch was moving slowly, and he held the bow horizontally. It was obvious that the arrow just now came from his hand.

A man who knows the current situation is a hero. This group of scouts quickly surrendered.

Soon they were tied up in front of the silver-haired knight. The man asked him some information, and then had them cover their heads with hoods and tied to a tree, and then led the people into the forest quickly.

"My lord, there is a camp ahead." A scout came back to report.

Cole nodded. He had already seen clearly from the white dragon that sending out scouts was also a cautious move.

This was the team under Renly who cut down trees and built equipment. They had cut down large tracts of forests, and the severity was no less than the fire set by Cole.

Judging from the walls of Storm's End that had been strengthened for several epochs, it would not be easy to attack without heavy work. For Renly, who grew up here, he naturally knew this etiquette.

They had built a lot of equipment for attacking King's Landing at Bitterbridge, but they were burned down by Cole, and now they can only rebuild them on the spot.

Now, let's not talk about attacking King's Landing, let's take down Storm's End first. Cole couldn't understand what the two brothers were fighting for. Did they want to deal with the internal affairs first and then deal with the external affairs?

Mrs. Stark was right. They were brothers and shouldn't be like this. But power is an addictive thing. Whoever gets it will not let it go.

Sometimes, if you just let go, you can get better results, but some people would rather let the power rot in their hands than let it go. People are selfish.

The white dragon explored the army's defense from the sky. There were only twenty or so cavalrymen, and the rest were infantry. Because of transportation, this camp was not heavily defended, with only a sentry tower and some low wooden fences.

There were about a thousand people in the whole camp, most of them were servants. They were all tenants and serfs brought by noble lords from the surrounding areas or territories.

The lords were too lazy to arm these people, and they didn't need them to go to the battlefield. They were only used to fill the gap when they were really short of people, like Cole's serf army.

Although killing these people would not cause much damage to Renly's combat power, it could slow down his progress.

Cole gave an order, and the cavalry followed him to charge.

There was only a shout of killing in the camp, and the cavalry had already rushed in from a gap in the defense, and they went straight to the garrison cavalry in the camp.

The knight was in charge of guarding this camp, and there were more than 200 defenders. He only heard the restlessness in the camp, and a group of enemies came to him.

The sound of swords clanging, they were rushed to pieces before they could gather.

The knight's armor was very eye-catching.

Cole tightened the reins and rushed to him. He was the only one wearing plate armor, so his identity could be known.

The double swords swung and stabbed, and the man blocked with a shield.

I saw a sword flowing like water, slashing down, the horses were in disarray, the knight was startled, stretched out his hand to hold the horse rope tightly, and clamped the horse's belly with his feet, but he didn't know that his hands had leaked.

Cole rode back and took the man's head with a sword.

When the knight fell, the morale of the army dissipated. The remaining soldiers just fled.

Cole and others ignored those who fled, just burned all the materials in the camp and hid in the royal forest.

The scouts were killed, the outer camp was attacked, and the caravan was looted.

Soon Renly and other lords found that a group of wild wolves came to their rear.

Five logging sites were burned, and dozens of scouts were missing.

Sir "Bryce Cullen", the rainbow guard in an orange cloak, reported the losses to the king.

"Your Majesty, as expected, it was this cavalry that attacked Lord Tyrell. The leader should be Cole Julius."

Baron Medou, who was in the cage, had already confessed most of the information, but he still kept some secrets in his heart, which he had intended to use as a bargaining chip for surrender. Who knew that his men were more eager to surrender than him.

Before the Highgarden army attacked, the city gate was opened by several traitors.

At this time, a knight walked by, who was someone Medou knew. It seemed that he had not gone to those banquets and tournaments in vain, at least he knew many big figures. As for whether they recognized him, it was unknown.

This person was Sir Bryce Cullen, Earl of Nightsong. A knight with a good reputation in the Seven Kingdoms, he is now King Renly's Rainbow Guard.

The Rainbow Guard is Renly's Kingsguard, a total of seven people, which just corresponds to the seven colors of the rainbow.

"Baron Medou, requests to see you, Your Majesty. He seems to have important news to tell you." Ser Orange Guard Cullen continued to say to Renly.

"Meidou? Have someone bring him in."

This guy was almost executed by the High Court people as the main culprit of arson.

Seeing Renly, Baron Maydoo knelt down and kept approaching him. The Rainbow Guard was ready to stop him, but Renly put his hand to signal that there was no need to disturb him.

Maydoo walked to Renly's feet and kissed his boots. "Your Majesty, the noble king, Elwood Maydoo of Green Valley greets you."

Renly seemed to find it quite interesting, and was not in a hurry to let him get up. He just asked, "I heard that you have news for me?"

"Yes, your majesty. I know the movements of Cole Julius and others. Before your army visited Green Valley, the cavalry intended to enter the castle, but I blocked them outside the door. I am loyal to your majesty, the king. I served as the deputy of Lord Cortanay Penrose and guarded Storm's End for you.

"But you betrayed your majesty. You are not worthy of being called a knight, Elwood Maydoo." Sir Good Morrigan, the green-clad Rainbow Guard on the side, shouted loudly.

"Let him finish. "Renly said to his side.

Sergeant Green looked at the kneeling man with disdain and stepped aside.

Medou cursed in his heart, but his face was still full of flattery, "Your Majesty, they didn't expect that I sent people to follow them. I know they are in the Dorne Mountains."

Ser Loras Tyrell nodded brazenly, "I see, no wonder our scouts couldn't find their base."
