The reason for the gap is not that HiSilicon cannot design low-nanometer Kirin chips, but that SMIC, which manufactures Kirin chips, cannot produce them!

That's right, SMIC is also within the scope of suppression by the United States, and it cannot buy the top EUV ultraviolet lithography machine from ASML AMSL.

Without EUV ultraviolet lithography machines, it is difficult to produce chips with a process of 5 nanometers and below.

This is the current bottleneck and also China's biggest problem in the semiconductor field.

Because a chip is not just a chip, but the crystallization of a whole semiconductor industry chain.
