Green Monster Epic
#127 - Who says goblins are useless?
“What in the world is going on? Someone articulate, come forward! Everyone else, shut your mouths!!”
Ellen was utterly bewildered. The tribesmen were chattering noisily, and he still couldn't figure out what was happening or where the monster came from.
“I will, let me speak!!”
A female bear goblin stepped forward, and after a moment of awkwardness in front of Ellen, began to explain the whole story.
“Chieftain, this goblin in front of you, the baby in her arms is a monster, even her hands have disappeared!!”
“Monster? What monster?”
“Hands disappeared?”
Ellen was puzzled, then his gaze fell on the two huddled-together goblins, big and small. Truthfully, the goblins' emphasis on bloodline was much stronger than that of the bear goblins. Even surrounded by a group of tall bear goblins and earth goblins, the female goblin holding the child didn't let go of her baby, protecting her tightly.
“What's your name?”
Ellen rarely paid attention to the goblins, so naturally he wouldn't remember their names. If he hadn't stumbled upon this incident, Ellen wouldn't have spared them a glance. In his opinion, supporting 20-30 goblins in the tribe was already a great kindness. Throughout the wilderness, which bear goblin tribe would support such a group of useless fellows who ate the most and did the least?
“Chieftain, I, my name is Shirin, this is my daughter Eileen, she, she is definitely not a monster!!”
The goblin's small body trembled under Ellen's sharp gaze, but she still didn't let go of her child.
“Shirin, don't worry, I'm not an unreasonable person, and I don't think your daughter is a monster. Let me see her.”
Ellen originally wanted to use force, but looking at the faces of the agitated tribesmen around him, he was afraid that his actions would give the tribesmen a negative impression, and then these two goblins might not have a good ending. It wasn't that he cherished the lives of the goblins, but he felt that he had raised these fellows for so long, and finally found some direction to make them useful, so he couldn't just waste them like that.
Perhaps it was because the first person Ellen interacted with from the outside world was a merchant, so Ellen always liked to consider things from a business perspective when considering problems, including various events, people, and items involved.
“Chieftain, you, you see, my Eileen is only 5 years old, how could she be a monster?”
Shirin trembled as she revealed a head of the small goblin, letting Ellen see her face and expression clearly, then sadly defended her child.
Philip watched for a long time, but he really couldn't figure out what these goblins were up to. They held such great resentment towards a young goblin, even slandering her as a monster and wanting to burn her to death.
“Little Eileen, I am Uncle Chieftain, can you show Uncle the thing you did before?”
Ellen controlled his expression, trying to show a kind side as much as possible. He had learned this when facing the impolite little goblin from the Flower Snake's family. Since defeating Flower Snake in the square, Chloe hadn't given him a good look. However, Ellen was alone, and besides daily honing his sword skills and practicing, he only had visiting and chatting with a few leaders.
“Grandma said, I can't do magic anymore, or she won't want me.”
The little girl hid in Shirin's arms, revealing a pair of cute big eyes and innocently refusing Ellen's request.
“It's okay, child, Uncle Chieftain will take care of it for you. If you perform the magic, I will reward you with a duck egg.”
Ellen continued to lure the little girl with a smile, while glancing at Shirin's face, signaling her to speak on his behalf.
“Eileen, show Uncle Chieftain.”
Shirin had no choice but to agree to Ellen and help him persuade her child.
With her mother's consent, the little girl finally nodded and took out a pair of hands from Shirin's arms. These small, emerald-green hands gradually faded away in Ellen's and the others' sight, leaving only a translucent outline. Through this hand outline, Ellen could even see a part of Shirin's body behind the hand.
“You see, Chieftain, isn't this a monster???”
“She's small now, and her hands have directly disappeared. When she grows up, will she make our village disappear!!!”
“That's right, this little thing must not be kept, Chieftain, you must not be soft-hearted!!!”
When the tribesmen saw the little girl display her magical ability, their emotions began to agitate again, chattering noisily in Ellen's ear.
“This is…”
The moment the other party unleashed her ability, Ellen made a judgment. He stared at the little girl with eyes like he had found a treasure, scaring the little girl to shrink back into her mother's arms. After being awakened by the chaotic吵杂 noise of the tribesmen, and hearing their words, Ellen's self-proclaimed firm heart almost burst on the spot, wanting to kick these idiots with shit in their brains.
“Shut your mouths!!! A bunch of clueless fools, do you know what Little Eileen's ability is called? Monster? I wish there were more monsters like Little Eileen in the tribe!!!”
Although he didn't physically beat these ignorant fellows, Ellen still couldn't hold back his anger and scolded them thoroughly, and no one dared to interrupt.
“From now on, Eileen is our tribe's treasure. If anyone dares to bully her again, I'll make you regret it!!!”
“Shirin, remember this, take good care of Eileen for me. If anyone makes things difficult for you behind your back, you can directly complain to me, or go to Camellia or Flower Snake.”
Ellen's sudden change in attitude not only shocked the tribesmen into silence, but even Shirin, the person involved, was so nervous that she nodded repeatedly, not daring to say anything more.
“Also, from now on, bring the little one to the square where I train every morning, I will personally teach her.”
“Ah, okay, okay.”
Shirin was both surprised and delighted. She originally thought that the best possible outcome for her and her daughter was to be driven out of the tribe, but who would have thought that things would take a turn for the better, and they would be valued by the chieftain. As long as the girl was promising and could learn half of the chieftain's strength, she could guarantee that their position in the tribe would no longer be as difficult as it was today.
“Congratulations, Master, on gaining a talent!!”
Philip was also envious. The Greenwild Tribe really had an endless stream of talents. If his manor had had such a scene back then, perhaps he wouldn't have fallen to this state.
“We should be happy!!”
Ellen was in a great mood and laughed heartily.
“Hahaha!!”
