Green Monster Epic

#136 - Alan is angry

Chapter 136: Allen's Fury

Allen stood guard at the entrance, awaiting the return of Dasha and his hunting party.

Ever since Philip had complained about Dasha in front of him, Allen had been preparing to catch Dasha in the act and then, in front of all the tribesmen, put on a show of 'killing the chicken to scare the monkey'.

Dasha's current behavior was becoming increasingly excessive, perhaps due to Allen's own leniency. After all, they had followed him to the outside world and experienced so much, so Allen had turned a blind eye to their minor flaws.

If Dasha slacked off again today, failing to hunt prey, or if the amount of prey was less than expected, then Dasha would not escape a severe beating. Thinking this, Allen couldn't help but rotate his wrist and crack his knuckles; his hands were already itching.

"Chieftain, Dasha is back!"

The tribesman monitoring from the watchtower shouted down. When the sound reached Allen's ears, he immediately perked up and craned his neck to look in the direction where Dasha and his group had gone hunting that morning.

On the horizon, a solitary figure was rapidly approaching. Dasha's panicked and frightened face gradually became clearer with each step. Seeing his disheveled appearance, Allen immediately sensed that something was wrong. He reached behind his back, and the greatsword that never left his side appeared in his hand. At the same time, Allen didn't hesitate and ran towards Dasha.

"What happened? Where are Dajiang and the others?"

After intercepting Dasha, Allen frowned deeply and began to inquire in a low voice.

"Chieftain, we encountered a pack of gnolls while hunting. Dajiang and the others were surrounded by them. I came back to get reinforcements!"

On the way back, Dasha had already devised a response. Now, facing Allen's questioning, he unhesitatingly spoke the answer he had prepared, but his eyes remained fixed on the ground, not daring to look at Allen.

"Where did you encounter the gnolls? How many are there?"

Although Allen was surprised that gnolls had invaded their territory, he was psychologically prepared after the ogre incident. He just hadn't expected the trouble to come so late, more than two months after the ogre incident.

"It was near Bear Hill, about forty miles southeast of our village. We were resting there when suddenly twenty-odd gnolls popped out and charged at us. I originally asked Dajiang to rush back to report, but he insisted on facing the gnoll leader. I think…"

Dasha vividly described the scene, while also trying to excuse himself in advance.

"Return to the village first…"

Allen felt anxious. Even if he organized people to rush over now, it would be of little use. From the time Dasha ran back to the time he brought people to rescue them, the battle was likely already decided. But no matter what, Allen had to investigate. After pondering for a moment, Allen took Dasha back to the village and then found Flower Snake, taking him along towards Bear Hill.

By the time Allen and Flower Snake arrived at Bear Hill, relentlessly tracking the faint traces left by Dasha's team to the final battlefield, besides the remnants of snow stained red and green, and countless traces of clashing weapons, there was no sign of anyone else.

"Those damned gnolls!"

Allen's heart was bleeding. Dasha's group was a twelve-man hunting party. If they all perished here, the blow to the fledgling Green Field Tribe would be enormous.

"What do we do now?"

Flower Snake's face also carried a murderous aura. The pair of weapons, one long and one short, twirled in his hand as he sought a target to vent his inner anger.

"Let's go back first and see if anyone escaped!"

Finding nothing, Allen didn't want to track the gnolls' trail. Allen and Flower Snake couldn't do much against a team of twenty-odd gnolls.

"…Alright."

Flower Snake glanced at Allen, and seeing his serious expression, he reluctantly sheathed his sword and dagger, and returned with Allen towards Green Lake.

Back at the tribe, Allen and Flower Snake received a bit of a surprise: Dajiang and three other tribesmen had returned. Although they were also disheveled and injured, what surprised Allen was that Dajiang, in front of him, rushed towards Dasha and began slapping Dasha with his large hands, not caring that Dasha was older and more experienced than him.

"Dajiang, are you out of your mind? What are you doing? I'll fight back if you keep this up!"

Perhaps feeling guilty, Dasha was wary of Dajiang's sudden attack. When he rushed forward, Dasha hid behind A-Xiao and Mauluo, playing a game of cat and mouse with Dajiang, while threatening Dajiang with a stern voice.

"I'll beat you to death, you bastard! I was originally going to buy you some time so you could come help, but I waited and waited, and you were long gone, leaving the brothers behind to run away alone!"

Dajiang was furious, and the wounds on his body that had just begun to heal reopened, oozing green blood.

"Damn it, is that my fault? There were twenty-odd gnolls on the other side! How many of us were there? If I didn't run, you'd be waiting to be wiped out! Didn't the chieftain tell us before that if we encounter an insurmountable enemy, we should retreat to the village first, and then…"

Dasha was only focused on dodging Dajiang, and didn't notice that Allen had approached him from behind at some point. The greatsword brought a gust of wind as it smashed directly into Dasha's back.

"Bang!"

Although Allen didn't directly use the blade to strike, but the flat of the blade, he didn't hold back any strength, even using a bit of anger. Striking Dasha's back was like hitting a large drum, producing a dull thud.

"Pfft!"

On the spot, Dasha spat out a mouthful of green blood, which landed right on A-Xiao and Mauluo in front of him. When Dasha struggled to turn around to find the attacker, and saw it was Allen, there was a hint of disbelief in his eyes: "Chieftain, what are you doing?"

"What am I doing? I did tell you to retreat if things looked bad, but as the leader of the hunting party, you eat and drink better than the rest of the tribe, and when it comes to the crucial moment, you abandon the tribesmen and run away first! That is absolutely unforgivable!"

"If you had helped delay them like Dajiang, perhaps one or two more of our warriors could have escaped!"

Allen glared at Dasha with fierce eyes. The other tribesmen who had gathered around after hearing the commotion nodded in agreement, while the goblins whose men were missing at this time looked at Dasha from afar with hatred and disgust.

"You just wait, this isn't over!"
