#226 - Encountering a Legend on the Road (4th Update!!)

Chapter 225: Encountering a Legend (4th Update!!)

The two of them quickly cleaned up the Void Spider's remains on the ground and swiftly left this dangerous place.

“Void Spiders usually appear in pairs. The ones we encountered were probably a mating pair.”

Since acquiring the Void Spider's abdomen, Salu's anxiety about moving forward had lessened considerably. Seeing that the Radiant Moon would end in at most 6-7 days, he wasn't worried at all.

On the other hand, Allen, before entering the maze, seemed organized about the relic adventure and didn't appear rushed. However, after obtaining two Memory Crystals, he became filled with hope for the relics he might encounter next. Therefore, as time passed, he seemed more eager than Salu, even quickening his pace.

He didn't feel bored along the way. Ever since yesterday's great harvest, Salu hadn't stopped talking, muttering about many things, many of which Allen didn't know.

“Heh heh heh, so there are two little mice here!!”

Just as Allen and Salu arrived at a crossroads and were wondering which way to choose, a rough and malevolent voice came from the corner of the passage directly in front of them, abruptly interrupting Salu's chatter with its ill-intentioned tone.

Allen and Salu looked up. At the corner about 40 meters ahead, a gnoll figure appeared. Behind him, three silver spears were lined up, their tips pointing upwards, neatly arranged on his back.

“Who are you?”

This was the first time Allen and Salu had encountered strangers in the maze. They immediately drew their weapons, warily watching the suddenly appearing gnoll.

“Who am I?”

The gnoll opened its bloodthirsty mouth, as if hearing a very funny question. Its sharp teeth, even from a distance, made Allen feel a chill from the bottom of his heart.

“I am the one who will take your lives!!”

After saying this, the smile disappeared from the gnoll's face. Two silver spears on his back automatically appeared in his hands. At the same time, a powerful aura emanated from the gnoll, making Allen feel both unfamiliar and strangely familiar.

“It's a Legendary expert!!! Run!!!”

Salu struggled to look up. Facing the pressure of a Legend made his movements sluggish, and even releasing his usual skills felt particularly difficult.

Allen, upon receiving the reminder, immediately recalled the scene of the three Legendary experts fighting in the sky above the Green Plains. He immediately woke up, his face turning pale. Being targeted by a Legendary expert was something Allen had never expected. His green face took a deep breath, and his powerful heart was forcefully instructed by his brain to beat violently, while all the energy accumulated in his body began to gather, resisting the mental pressure from the Legendary expert.

“Drink!!”

Allen was the first to break free from the shackles, turning around and running wildly towards the passage they had come from.

“Want to leave??”

The Legendary Gnoll didn't move, but the silver spear in his hand suddenly disappeared, reappearing behind Allen. A powerful and fierce hurricane struck. Knowing something was wrong, Allen, who was already prepared, dragged his heavy sword across the ground and quickly turned around, unleashing his strongest move, the Trinity Slash, while staring directly at the silver spear getting closer and closer. The heavy sword resolutely struck the sharp spearhead.

“Ding!!”

Under the display of extraordinary strength, Allen's heavy sword blade collided with the spear tip. In the violent collision, the heavy sword in Allen's hand immediately came loose, and the silver spear knocked it aside, embedding it in the wall of the passage. Under the huge difference in strength, Allen's resistance seemed so futile. The silver spear easily swung by the gnoll was something Allen couldn't block even by mobilizing all the power in his body, not even causing the slightest tremor. The silver spear directly pierced Allen's chest.

“Puff!!!!!”

It felt as if a faucet had appeared in Allen's mouth, and dark green blood sprayed out like it was free. The silver spear dragged his body far away, until Allen's back hit the wall at the corner of the passage. After another muffled and violent impact, the silver spear's advance stopped.

Allen lost all support, his head drooping on one shoulder, collapsing softly to the ground like a corpse.

“Hmm?”

The gnoll was a little surprised, seeing that the silver spear lying on the ground didn't seem to have been able to penetrate the wall. However, taking advantage of Allen's distraction of the Legendary Gnoll, Salu, who had used his life-saving trick, Shadow Step, to escape to the left passage corner 20 meters away, and then quickly disappeared with Swift Shadow Step, interrupted the gnoll's intention to investigate further. He turned his head and chased after him mockingly, his movements even faster than Salu's after using Swift Shadow Step.

“Little mouse, you still want to run??”

As the Gnoll expert disappeared, and without any action from him, the silver spear stuck in Allen's chest suddenly flew up with a wave of his left hand, quickly returning to where the gnoll disappeared, as if an invisible line was connecting the silver spear and the gnoll.

The moment the silver spear was pulled out, Allen's body, which looked like a corpse on the ground, suddenly trembled. After a few breaths after the gnoll's figure disappeared into the left passage, Allen's dull eyes regained their focus in a burst of intense pain.

Allen sat slumped on the ground, gathering his strength after taking several breaths, weakly rummaging through his backpack, finding the healing potions and scrolls placed in the most convenient place, and using them on himself without hesitation.

After taking the potion and using the healing scroll, the fatal injuries on his body were alleviated. Allen knew he didn't have much time, so he didn't dare to delay any longer. He pulled out the heavy sword stuck in the wall and quickly started running wildly, ignoring the tearing pain in his chest area, where all his ribs were broken, caused by his wild running.

The huge and irreparable difference in strength between him and the Legendary expert made Allen lose any fighting spirit to fight against the opponent. Instead of futilely losing his life, it was better to play dead and escape, perhaps with a glimmer of hope.

As he ran, Allen reached for the wound on his chest. There was a stinging sensation from foreign objects piercing his flesh. Although he couldn't completely remove them, he could do some emergency treatment while running. When his left hand came out of his chest, in addition to the blood similar to his skin, there was also a piece of dragon scale the size of a palm, with a hollow and broken center.

The dragon scale, which had helped Allen kill the Void Spider without being damaged by the Void Spider's space-tearing chelicerae, ultimately failed to survive the casual blow of the Legendary expert, but because of the protection of this dragon scale, Allen was able to survive, instead of being pierced through the heart and dying on the spot by the silver spear.
