Green Monster Epic
#26 - Settle
Chapter 26: Settling Down
The heavy rain continued to fall incessantly. Allen and his group, driving the spine-carriage in the dark, only managed to return to the Greenwild Camp in the middle of the night.
Allen didn't even want to move. He simply asked Supervisor Feli to help Stone prepare a midnight snack for the tribe, and then staggered back to his wooden house, closing the door and falling into a deep sleep.
The bodies of hobgoblins were indeed so strong. After using a scroll of 'Cure Light Wounds' and getting a good night's rest, Allen, who finally crawled out of his wooden bed at noon the next day, had recovered about seventy to eighty percent of his injuries.
Only his chest still felt a bit heavy, and he couldn't muster much strength.
"Chieftain Allen, congratulations on your great victory!"
Feli didn't have time to congratulate Allen last night. Now, meeting the recovered Allen, he said with a smile.
"I should also congratulate Supervisor Feli. Now that so many kobolds have been killed, they won't dare to venture out to plunder in the short term.
This has eliminated the trouble blocking your path. I wonder when Supervisor Feli plans to set off for the Elven Kingdom?"
Allen was in a good mood, mimicking Feli's tone and bantering with him.
"Since we have a contract with the chieftain, we will naturally seek the chieftain's advice. However, looking at the chieftain's health, should we rest for another two days?"
Feli looked at Allen's slightly pale face and asked with concern.
"No need. Our hobgoblin's recovery ability is much stronger than you humans. Let's set off tomorrow.
Didn't Supervisor Feli say that your time is tight? We can't delay the supervisor's important matters for just me."
Allen replied considerately. Feli and his group had stayed at Greenwild Lake for 3-4 days waiting for the rain to stop.
Delaying any further would waste their effort in annihilating the kobolds. It would be more convenient to simply take a detour.
"Alright, I'll have people prepare. I won't disturb the chieftain's rest."
Feli approached Allen for this matter, so now that he had a clear answer, he bid farewell and left to prepare for tomorrow's journey.
Allen didn't idle either. He personally ate a big meal to fill his stomach, and then searched around the unfamiliar camp for the hobgoblin tribesmen who were still lazily sleeping.
He kicked them awake one by one and began to give instructions.
"Tomorrow, I will take ten tribesmen with me to the Elven Kingdom with the human caravan. It is expected to be away for about a month.
When I leave, Stone, you keep a good eye on these guys for me. Tea Blossom, you help Stone to ration and cook the daily food.
If I find that the food exceeds the consumption when I come back, I'll make it hard on both of you!!"
The tribesmen weren't very clever, so Allen could only choose a general from the dwarfs, letting a relatively smart female goblin manage the most important food.
He was worried that during his absence, someone would disobey the female goblin's management, and he couldn't let the power fall into the hands of others.
He left Stone, whom he trusted, behind. With these two in the tribe, he could leave with peace of mind.
As for the hobgoblins in the tribe who could pose a threat to Stone, Allen would definitely take them with him.
In the agreement with Feli, Allen and his group also had to dispatch 10 warriors to escort the other party, which was convenient for both parties.
"Okay."
Tea Blossom suddenly went from the bottom of the tribe to a position of real power. Unlike Stone, who was ignorant and clueless, her eyes were full of surprise as she quickly agreed.
"Remember, you must not let anyone hurt the goblins and earth goblin slaves in the camp.
It is also your responsibility to keep them alive, understand?"
The tribesmen didn't understand why Allen wanted to support those dozen goblin tribesmen.
Compared to the powerful hobgoblins, these dozen goblins and earth goblins weren't very capable and couldn't help everyone hunt or plunder.
However, they had big mouths and didn't eat any less than everyone else.
Although they didn't understand, the tribe still had surplus food, and everyone didn't have to go hungry.
Although everyone was unwilling to the chieftain's reckless actions, they didn't need to challenge the chieftain's authority for this matter.
"Big Mountain, A Xiao, Big River... You ten, tidy up and find a set of leather armor that fits and isn't too tattered from the leather armor we seized to wear.
Oh, right, before changing clothes, everyone must go into the lake and take a good bath.
If I smell someone with a bad smell on them tonight, I'll let them go hungry tonight!!"
After a series of detailed instructions, Allen secretly sneaked back to the wooden house, where there was a set of chain mail scraped from Wolf Tooth's body.
Allen couldn't figure out how this hard steel was made into this shape. If all their tribesmen wore such chain mail, they probably wouldn't need to design anything yesterday.
The hobgoblins could directly fight the enemy and take down their opponents.
Stroking the chain mail constructed by interlocking rings, Allen liked it very much.
Unfortunately, there were already several gaps in this chain mail, and its defensive power was not as good as before, but for Allen, as long as it could improve his strength, these were minor problems.
It was just a pity that he was injured now, and there were no enemies around at this time.
Allen was eager to put on the chain mail and show off, but he was too embarrassed.
But this didn't prevent him from carefully cleaning the dirt on the chain mail, and at the same time picking up the two-handed sword and whetstone by the door and sharpening it.
In fact, Allen's proficiency in using the two-handed sword was not as good as the wolf tooth club he had used for many years, but he had this personality.
As long as he saw a better weapon, he would want to change weapons without thinking. Carefully calculating, in a short period of 2-3 months, Allen had successively changed several weapons: one-handed sword - two-handed steel axe - two-handed greatsword.
Even now, Allen was drooling over the two-handed heavy hammer he had just seized from the kobold leader Wolf Tooth, but with his current strength, although he could swing the weapon, it was really difficult for him to continue using it in battle.
Moreover, after seeing Regis's demeanor in using the two-handed sword, Allen began to change his consistent habit of pursuing the best equipment and began to think about what weapon he should use.
Based on the hobgoblin's outstanding ability in terms of strength, one-handed weapons were not within Allen's consideration anyway. The momentum brought by heavy weapons when swinging was completely incomparable to one-handed weapons.
Now that Regis was a teacher, Allen had always wanted to befriend him and build a good relationship with him.
Afterwards, they would have to **** the caravan together, and there would be a lot of time to spend together. Perhaps he could learn some tricks of using weapons from him, instead of just swinging them randomly like now, completely without any rules.
Thinking of this, Allen's thoughts of continuing to change weapons faded a lot, and his motivation for sharpening the two-handed sword became even stronger.
