#67 - Happy Days of Stone
Chapter 67: Stone's Happy Days
Stone lived a carefree life. Having grasped complete control of the Greenwild Tribe, no one dared to hinder or resist his desires.
In the days since Allen and the others left, he spent most of his time hiding in Allen's house, staring blankly at piles of food. When his stomach growled, he no longer had to beg Allen pitifully; food was delivered to his mouth with a mere utterance. In just over a month, Stone single-handedly consumed more than 200 pounds of grain, enough to feed three people for over a month under normal circumstances.
The result, naturally, was that Stone had visibly gained weight, his body jiggling as he walked, which pleased him greatly.
Of course, besides eating, Stone found great joy in spending his leisure time communicating with the female hobgoblin, Tea Blossom, and engaging in passionate wrestling matches on the wooden bed in Allen's house, which brought him both physical and mental comfort.
Fortunately, Stone hadn't forgotten Allen's instructions entirely. He still led a few tribesmen to patrol the surrounding area, half-heartedly waving rusty weapons, which he considered his daily hunt. However, luck was not on their side; they hadn't caught any prey in over a month. It seemed the wild beasts in the wilderness were all hiding.
With Stone taking care of external affairs, Stone didn't need to worry about the trivial matters of eating, drinking, and waste disposal in the simple camp. Tea Blossom, having received instructions from Allen and with Stone's backing, managed the tribe in an orderly manner, far better than the previous chieftains.
The sanitation within the camp had improved significantly. Allen himself was relatively fastidious; his experiences in the dream realm instilled in him a greater concern for personal hygiene than even a female. During his time as chieftain, especially after moving closer to the water source, his first action was to lead the tribe in thoroughly cleaning the Green Lake Gnoll camp, both to clear out the Gnolls' accumulated mess and because the human merchants couldn't stand the stench of the wilderness tribe, repeatedly advising Allen to do so.
Later, after Allen led people to the Elven Kingdom, Tea Blossom took over the tribe's daily management. As a hobgoblin who considered herself to have some beauty, even as a wilderness native, Tea Blossom still had a desire for beauty. The pleasant environment brought about by cleanliness, compared to the dirty and chaotic environment of their old settlement, clearly showed which was superior.
Besides leading the women to dig for wild vegetables and pick berries in the wilderness as supplementary food, Tea Blossom spent most of her time focusing on improving the sanitation of the new camp.
Of course, while there was a natural female pursuit of hygiene, Tea Blossom, having just taken power, also hoped to please Allen. She understood that Allen's powerful strength would be unshakeable in the Greenwild Tribe for a long time to come. For the sake of power, Tea Blossom even secretly seduced the lustful Stone, using her beauty to make Stone her backing, so that no one dared to challenge her authority when she ordered the tribal females around.
"Stone, haven't you taken people out for a patrol today?"
Without Allen's restraints, the hobgoblins' lazy nature led them to prefer lying in the shade after eating and drinking their fill, enjoying the cool breeze blowing gently from the lake, dispelling the surrounding heat. Only when the sun gradually set in the sky would Tea Blossom remind Stone to take the tribe's few warriors out for a patrol.
It was impossible to get these lazy fellows to hunt. The grain Allen left behind in the camp was enough for everyone to use for a while. Knowing the tribe, Tea Blossom knew that they wouldn't actively seek food until the grain was exhausted or Allen returned. However, Tea Blossom remembered Allen's instructions before leaving, telling them to be vigilant and patrol daily, so they could detect any danger approaching in advance.
Tea Blossom had experienced too many ups and downs of wilderness tribes. Before being taken in by the Greenwild Tribe, Tea Blossom had stayed in several small families. Now was the best time she had ever had, so she cherished it especially.
"Okay, let me sleep a little longer."
Stone's lazy voice came from the house. The morning was too beautiful. Rather than wandering around in the wilderness, it was better to stay in the house and sleep soundly, so as not to waste this beautiful time; at noon, the sun was too hot, and a casual stroll would result in a layer of skin being peeled off, causing unnecessary suffering, so it was better to rest in the shade; in the afternoon, the lazy sun made people feel lazy and unable to muster any strength, which was Stone's mood change throughout the day.
Or rather, this was the general mentality of wilderness hobgoblins.
Tea Blossom urged him several times before Stone reluctantly climbed out of the bed covered with straw mats, leaned against the leaky and light-filled wall of the wooden house, and slowly walked out of the room.
Allen had been gone with people for more than a month, but his residual power was still there. At least, in Stone's heart, he had been beaten by Allen a lot over the years, which was the biggest reason he could resist his instincts and get up. As for Tea Blossom's urging, it was just a little icing on the cake.
"Get up, get up, like a stuffed pig!!"
Arriving at the earthen cave where the tribesmen gathered to rest, Stone took out the majesty of a headman, kicking the warriors who were lying crookedly and without any image without any mercy. When they frowned and wanted to get angry, they looked up and saw Stone's round figure, and they lowered their heads one after another, hurriedly crawling up from the ground.
The wooden houses built by the Gnolls in the camp were not practical. The hobgoblins, who were used to cooling off in caves, had only one achievement these days: digging a cave deep into the small hill in the camp built against the mountain. When the sun was hot, lying in the cave, the faint moist breath on the ground made the whole cave much cooler than outside.
"It's time to go out for patrol and hunting, get up quickly and take your weapons and go out with me for a walk!!"
Leading the tribe for more than a month, Stone's common language became more and more fluent. Before, he could barely express some words with stutters. Now, as he issued orders to the tribesmen, scolded and beat them, he could say a complete sentence without any obstacles. Of course, this was also related to the previous communication with the human merchants, but it cannot be denied that since becoming the headman, Stone liked to speak more and more.
"Hey, why bother going out for a walk on such a hot day, Stone."
"That's right, didn't we just go out for a walk yesterday? In such hot weather, there are no prey coming out to move around, why don't we take a day off?"
The performance of the tribesmen was exactly the same as Stone thought. Stone, who wanted to take the opportunity to go downhill, had Allen's angry face flashed in his mind, and he immediately dispelled his lazy mood.
"If you don't get up for me, I'll break your legs!!"
"Aww!!"
He picked up a wooden stick as thick as an arm next to the cave and hit the tribesmen fiercely. The tribesmen who were stimulated by this could no longer be lazy, and while stroking their painful arms, they crawled out of the cave.
