Green Monster Epic

#831 - Alliance Problems

As three of the Wildlands' Five Pillars raised their right hands in affirmation, the three centaur representatives, who had been secretly worried, finally relaxed, their faces showing relief.

However, when they thought about the price they had paid to gain the support of these Pillars, the centaurs, who had just relaxed, couldn't help but reveal a look of heartache in their eyes.

Everything was just an exchange of benefits, but the threshold for this kind of exchange was beyond the reach of most members of the alliance.

Of the two plans, the first one was obviously more beneficial to the centaur race. If they could get the alliance to pass this plan, then the centaur race could use the resources and power of the entire alliance to retake the territory that had been continuously annexed by humans for countless years.

Choosing the first plan, the Wildlands Allied Forces would counterattack the human Western Border Kingdom, thereby containing the human reinforcements to the Orc Empire. The final result would be nothing more than two possibilities.

One was that the humans were prepared and the assembled human army would launch a frantic revenge against the Wildlands, just like the war more than two hundred years ago.

However, the humans had already launched a war to invade the Orc Empire, with hundreds of thousands of vanguard troops fighting fiercely for half a month. They would definitely not turn back. Therefore, the counterattack they launched against the Wildlands Allied Forces' containment war would not be too strong, at most repeating the results of more than two hundred years ago.

And the other result was that the humans would invest most of their resources and manpower into their biggest goal in the east, the Orc civilization, and would not have more resources and manpower to spare to deal with the Wildlands.

If this was the case, then the centaur race could take advantage of this opportunity to retake the territory they had lost countless years ago, and even directly attack the human Western Border Kingdom, slaughtering and destroying their homeland, threatening their central heartland, and delaying their pace of unifying the Hillen Continent.

As the most unique existence in the Wildlands, the three centaur royal courts' control over the Centaur Grassland was unmatched by other tribes in the Wildlands. Almost no other Wildlands natives could take root and survive on the grassland.

Their demonstrated xenophobia became a different kind of development for the Wildlands races, and the root of it lay in the fact that behind them stood a deity -- the centaur god Chiron.

The three royal courts on the Centaur Grassland should be the most similar to human kingdoms. It was precisely this centralized system that allowed them to resist the human annexation and erosion of the Centaur Grassland for countless years.

Also, because of the centralized system, the rulers of the three royal courts had a more excellent training mechanism, allowing them to take a longer-term view, unlike other tribes in the Wildlands who were short-sighted and eager for quick success.

The centaur rulers were very clear about their predicament. As long as the humans' ambition to expand their territory did not stop, then the war between the centaur race and humans would definitely not cease. Now, the humans still had a strong enemy on the Hillen Continent, which allowed the centaur race to continue to multiply and thrive on the Centaur Grassland, but if the humans suppressed and weakened the Orc civilization, even without completely wiping them out, it would be a great disaster for the centaur race.

The human kingdoms in the west could not always allow the kingdoms in the east to occupy the greatest benefits. They also had a natural pursuit of territorial expansion. After all, the foundation for maintaining the existence and strength of their kingdoms was their gods, and what the gods needed was a large group of believers.

If they wanted to add more believers, then the most reasonable and effective way was to reproduce and strengthen their own people. The more people there were, the greater the demand for land, which was an unsolvable reality.

Therefore, in the war with humans more than two hundred years ago, the centaur race paid the heaviest price, but they did not have much resentment or regret, only because they understood that if they wanted to defend their reproduction on the Centaur Grassland, it was impossible to coexist peacefully with humans.

Since this was the case, instead of investing the Wildlands' limited manpower and resources in the east, it would be better to create greater benefits and value for the centaurs, so that the centaur race could be a little stronger, and at least have a better chance of winning in the future.

Based on this calculation, the centaur rulers had already begun to send their envoys to move among the alliance members and persuade the Wildlands tribe members to invest resources and manpower into the grassland to contain the human actions after the humans issued a call to arms to attack the orcs.

Allen and the other four Pillars were the first targets that the centaur envoys thought of persuading. Who told them that these Pillars represented a force behind them? As long as they could persuade them, it meant that they had persuaded several or even dozens of tribes.

Allen raised his hand like a straight spear. When he saw that the demigods Briken and Yalen also raised their hands, he was not surprised.

In order to persuade himself, the conditions offered by the centaur envoys were very tempting, including the best pasture grass seeds, the most divine warhorse breeds and breeding methods of the centaur race, as well as a complete set of tactical secrets based on the centaur cavalry regiment, and so on.

These things were all secrets that the centaur race never passed on, but this time they were all taken out as bargaining chips to persuade the demigods, which showed that the other party had great expectations for this war mobilization.

Presumably, the rewards given to the other two demigods for their support would only be more than what they had received, who told these two and the forces behind them to be stronger!

In addition, there were other scattered tribes with good relations, and medium-sized forces that had been drawn in, and so on. The final result did not disappoint the centaur representatives.

"The number of representatives who agree to send troops from the Centaur Grassland to attack the human Western Border Kingdom is 61 in total, plus the Oak, Ranger, and New Sprout Church votes, which has exceeded half of the total votes."

"Then I announce that the alliance is about to implement the first plan."

"Does anyone have any other opinions?"

"If there are no objections, then the meeting will enter the next agenda item, regarding the recommendation of candidates for the commander and staff department of the Allied Forces..."

Although the kobold saint Davinci was not very surprised by this result, he inevitably felt a little upset. Davinci, who used to be a member of the balanced camp, had already leaned towards the pro-human camp because of his own and his tribe's interests.

Although Davinci understood very well in his heart with his wisdom that the humans' ambition was impossible to coexist peacefully with the Wildlands for a long time, it was a good way to take this opportunity to use humans to resist the control and suppression of the Pale Night tribe by the Temple of Nature.

Although Davinci hoped that the humans' goal of attacking the Orc Empire would fail, he also did not want the Wildlands to completely anger the humans. Therefore, the most suitable choice should be to send troops to the eastern border to attack the opponent with the Orc Empire.

The Orc Empire was much stronger than the cobbled-together army of the Wildlands, and it would definitely be the main force against the humans, while the Wildlands was only an auxiliary force to contain the human legions. Even if it posed a threat to the humans, it was limited and it was difficult to attract too much hatred.

Therefore, when the centaur envoys came to see him and tried to persuade him to support the first plan, Davinci, from a selfish point of view, still did not choose to support the other party.

It was a pity that although he hoped to implement the second plan more, the centaurs had greater determination and more benefits to offer, and in the end, they still managed to draw in enough votes.
