Green Monster Epic
#941 - Offense and defense change
The questions raised in the elven demigod's tale had always caused Alan great confusion, especially after personally experiencing the might of a Saint and understanding their power.
Upon reaching the Saint level, it's no longer just about individual strength; their existence can dictate the course of a war and the potential for a faction's continuation.
Now, Alan could finally understand why the Kobold Saint, Da Vinci, was so unconcerned about the other demigod pillars' private alliances, and why he dared to offend the Church's forces without much worry.
If the humans in the south were hesitant to send Saints to trouble the Centaur Steppe's royal court because the court itself had a Saint and the Centaur God's powerful church to deter them, then the barren northern wilderness, seemingly devoid of powerful factions or Saint-level figures for countless years, should have been an easy target.
With the Elven Kingdom's rulers' vision and methods, they would never forgo the more efficient and intimidating use of a Saint, instead of painstakingly mobilizing hundreds of thousands of troops to conquer the south.
Even with the addition of the Drow in the Northern Territory, their total population was only a little over a million.
Even with the Spider Queen, Lolth, as their patron deity, given the Elves' and Drow's long-standing feud, the Elves could have dispatched three to five Saints south and likely wiped out the Drow over two hundred years ago.
Before Alan emerged and the Alliance neglected the Northern Territory, the Elves had plenty of opportunities to control it, or at least seize the Catoer Canyon passage!
"There's an unwritten rule among secular forces in the Feyman World: Saint-level powerhouses cannot participate in large-scale faction wars, nor can they launch retaliatory attacks against kingdoms and factions!"
"Your actions now violate this rule. If you don't stop, my Elven Kingdom will show no mercy and will not rule out sending Saints to retaliate against you without restriction!"
"Humph!"
Listening to Alicia's serious words, Alan remained unmoved, sneering dismissively.
"To say such things at this point, are you still fantasizing that we can resolve this peacefully?"
"I have used such threats against my clan's powerful enemies back when I assumed the position of chieftain of the Green Field Tribe, and the effect was indeed good!"
"But!!"
"Don't forget, those who use such threats are usually the weaker party, not the stronger one! Surely your kingdom, with its vast foundation, wouldn't want to compete with me to see who pays the greater price!!"
At this point, regardless of whether the other party's words were true or credible, Alan had no turning back.
The Northern Territory's only advantage was him, a newly advanced Saint.
If he were to be restrained by such threats, the Thorns Alliance's losses in this war would be severe!
For the sake of the Northern Territory and his tribe's long-term future, Alan had to persevere until he weathered the current crisis before he could consider anything else.
Instant kill!!
The sword thrust forward relentlessly, and a silent black ray appeared behind Alicia.
Like a demigod archer with eyes in the back of their head, she once again rippled with magical energy, and her figure vanished into nothingness within the ray.
"Roar!!"
The roar of an Ironhide Bear came from behind Alan, followed by a gust of wind.
Alan turned and swung his sword, sending the thick-skinned Ironhide Bear flying once more.
At the same time, the reinvigorated Elven opponents unleashed scrolls and ranged attacks, causing dangerous surges of energy to ripple around Alan.
"Humph!!"
Alan shouted sharply, wielding the Bone Cleaver with great force.
Enhanced by his battle domain, the heavy sword was comparable to the slender swords and scimitars in the hands of sword dancers, and each slash stirred up a monstrous storm.
In his peripheral vision, the Elven demigod once again created distance.
The brief engagement had allowed her to understand the range of Alan's battle domain, and she now more calmly roamed outside the domain, shooting arrows and restraining Alan's movements.
"How annoying!"
Alan couldn't help but curse inwardly.
These Elven powerhouses were truly wealthy.
Even the legendary figures, who were far weaker than him, could always pull out miraculous items at critical moments to save their lives.
Even if they suffered frontal damage, as long as they retained a breath, they could pull out bottles of precious potions and scrolls that were obviously extraordinary, releasing them on themselves to preserve a chance of survival.
Not to mention Alicia, the leader of this team, the demigod archer.
Alan even felt that his equipment and items were mere child's play compared to hers.
Like the precious teleportation items, she had used them no less than five times in this engagement alone.
The value of the magical equipment and items capable of performing such teleportation spells could probably equal half of Alan's entire set of equipment.
After erupting again and blasting away the surrounding powerhouses, Alan was unwilling to waste his divine power any longer.
Since this Elven powerhouse was too troublesome, he would simply change his target.
No sooner said than done, Alan's body suddenly sank, abandoning his plan to continue pursuing these Elven powerhouses, and plunged headfirst into the still fiercely fighting Elven army on the ground.
Whoosh!!
The Sword of the Tempest enveloped Alan's figure, tearing a gap of more than a dozen meters wide in the Elven army and sweeping towards the rear.
Although Alicia and the others rushed back, there was little they could do.
The Druids, transformed into giant dragons and Ironhide Bears, rushed into the eye of the hurricane first, only to be flung out, leaving behind dozens of wounds of varying depths.
With great difficulty, they waited for the hurricane to stop.
When Alan's figure was revealed to everyone, he suddenly leaped high, and after cleaving away the attacks of several Elven powerhouses who had followed closely behind, he naturally fell to the ground, unleashing the 'Heaven Split' stance with determination.
Boom!!
Whoosh!!
Surging dust rushed into the sky, and countless brave Elves and wasteland warriors quietly perished in this attack that completely changed the battlefield's terrain, their corpses never to be found.
The heavy sword was quickly retracted, and Alan struck the end of the hilt with his left fist, sending his body head-on into the giant fireball that was locked onto him.
Boom!!
The fireball exploded once again in the wide canyon.
The already shaking earth trembled once more.
Countless valiant warriors staggered, unable to care about fighting, and struggled to maintain their balance on the undulating ground, dodging the suddenly appearing cracks and collapsing boulders!
