Harry Potter and the Candy Factory
#148 - Draco's Letter
“Good afternoon, Hagrid.”
Charlie also nodded with a smile. As he spoke, he had already opened the envelope and taken out the letter inside.
Putting them back on the desk, a faint light suddenly flashed on the ring on his finger, and Charlie's wand was sent into his hand.
“Please sit down.”
As he spoke, his elbow turned slightly, causing the tip of the wand to bloom with a bright light.
Finally, he pointed it towards the ground.
With a "buzzing" sound, the thick carpet laid on the floor began to move slowly.
Under the blessing of the Transfiguration Charm, it stretched and extended.
In just two or three seconds, it transformed into an enlarged sofa.
“You've really worked hard, Hagrid. Thank you for making this trip for me. Take a rest first.”
Charlie retracted his wand and continued.
“It's nothing. If there's anything you need my help with, Charlie, you can just tell me!”
As friends, Hagrid naturally wouldn't be too restrained. The smile on his face remained as he nodded and walked to the sofa, plopping down on it.
“Hmm…”
Relaxing his body and leaning against the back of the sofa, Hagrid couldn't help but let out a long breath, accompanied by a series of crisp cracking sounds from his spine.
“Not bad… This is more comfortable than the sofa in my house.”
Reaching under the desk, he skillfully opened a drawer and took out some candy, handing it towards Hagrid.
“Want some?” Charlie raised his hand, indicating.
“Uh… Is it Lemon Sherbet?”
Hagrid's eyes couldn't help but light up, and after hesitating for a moment, he asked.
“Of course, why not?”
Receiving the other party's relaxed reply, he stood up from the sofa, walked to Charlie's desk in two steps, and carefully picked up the candy.
“Thank you! You're so thoughtful, Charlie.”
The amber-like candy shimmered with a moving light under the sunlight. The filling inside flowed slowly with Hagrid's movements, as if it had its own life.
Even though it wasn't the first time he had seen it, Hagrid couldn't help but be intoxicated by this wonderful candy.
As always, after finishing the appreciation, he slowly put it into his mouth, holding it with the tip of his tongue. He then slowly closed his eyes and sat back on the sofa, quietly enjoying the sweetness and happiness brought by the candy…
Before tasting Charlie's candy, Hagrid had not never eaten desserts made by other workshops.
Due to Dumbledore's habit of loving sweets, as his capable subordinate, buying candy for Dumbledore was also a frequent occurrence.
So, from Chocolate Frogs and Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans to Honeydukes' Licorice Wands, he had eaten quite a few.
However, no matter what kind of candy it was, after facing the Lemon Sherbet and Violet Creams produced by Charlie's brand, they all became dull and tasteless.
It was as if Charlie had really integrated superb magic into them, constantly stimulating people's taste buds, stimulating the nerves of the brain, and continuously transmitting waves of soothing and sweet signals…
Seeing Hagrid quiet down and lean back on the sofa again, savoring the candy, Charlie's smile became even more gentle and bright.
After all, as a businessman, it was undoubtedly a fortunate thing to see people so fond of the products produced by his factory.
Without disturbing the other party's current interest, Charlie skillfully took out two apple-flavored gummy bears from the drawer and threw them into his mouth.
While chewing, he began to read the letter that he had not yet started to read.
“Rustle…”
The letter unfolded, and Charlie's eyes narrowed as he began to quickly scan it.
However, what he didn't expect was that the content conveyed from the very beginning surprised him.
Only to see that on the first line of the letter, it was written in delicate and fluent handwriting:
“To my dear and respected Uncle…”
Seeing this sentence, almost without thinking, Draco's tender face with full of pride quietly appeared in Charlie's mind.
“Why is there a letter from Draco?”
Charlie raised his eyebrows, subconsciously shifting his gaze from the letter and glancing at Hagrid, who was immersed in his own world.
After thinking about it again and again, out of politeness and respect, he ultimately did not disturb the other party, but chose to suppress the confusion in his heart and continued to read.
The letter was not short, even longer than Dumbledore's.
The content was like a family letter, meticulously reporting his performance at school to Charlie.
Charlie read it bit by bit, and the confusion gradually dissipated, or rather, it had become unimportant.
The corners of his mouth raised slightly, and a rare hint of relief appeared on his face.
Looking at the dense, tiny traces that had even been modified in some places because of a wording choice.
Charlie seemed to be able to imagine the scene when Draco sat in the library, word by word, seriously writing this letter.
Draco reported very seriously, from the good grades he had accumulated in the past semester to the praise made by the teachers of each subject… just like a child waiting for praise, he dumped everything in front of Charlie.
But among them, what surprised Charlie the most was that even Professor McGonagall and his good brother, the "Half-Blood Prince," had given not low evaluations.
You must know that Professor McGonagall was known for being fair and strict, treating everyone equally. And now, Draco was actually able to make McGonagall look at him differently, from which it could be seen that he had really made no small effort.
As for Severus… there was no need to say anything more. Even if it was out of kinship with himself, if Draco's grades were only considered "good" and not "excellent," then Severus's comments would most likely be summarized in two short words, such as "passable" or "not bad."
At this point, Charlie couldn't help but nod. It seemed that this child had at least undergone a transformation in terms of learning.
Subsequently, after successfully reporting on his daily homework, Draco also talked about his daily life and talked about his new friends—Harry, Hermione… and Ron.
Charlie paused when he saw this, and sighed inwardly.
Sure enough, even if Harry went to Slytherin, the trio was still not separated… No, according to the current situation, it seemed that it should be called the quartet.
However, just as Charlie's interest was growing, thinking about what kind of strange chemical reaction such a combination would produce, the last thing Draco described at the end of the letter made him frown.
“Third floor corridor, black shadow and… Quirrell?”
His eyes narrowed slightly as he subconsciously raised his hand and tapped the surface of the desk, pondering.
