Harry Potter and the Candy Factory
#17 - invite
Charlie pursed his lips, opened the letter, and began to read from the first line.
"To my dear brother,"
"It seems like a long time has passed since you last met with me..."
"I went to the house where we lived together as children with Lucius a few days ago and visited our father, Cygnus."
"I originally wanted to hear some news about you from him, but he told me that since that incident... you have never returned here."
"Hearing what he said, my heart felt like it had been cut with a knife, and I couldn't help but feel a burst of pain."
"I couldn't help but think of the days when we lived together and played together as children, those were truly memorable."
Reading this, Charlie paused for a moment, the corner of his mouth twitching slightly.
He didn't remember Narcissa ever having any good memories of playing with him... When he was a child and didn't have a wand, he was often disciplined by her.
"Who would have thought that siblings who originally lived together would now be scattered in all directions, all different..."
"I know that you may have some misunderstandings with Lucius. But time can always take everything away... Now that more than ten years have passed, I think we should find an opportunity to resolve your misunderstandings."
"Coincidentally, your nephew, Draco Malfoy, will soon be going to Hogwarts as a freshman to study. I have always told him stories about your deeds at school. Although you have never met, he admires you very much and hopes to become a successful wizard like you in the future."
"So, I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to stay at Malfoy Manor for a few days. By the way, attend Draco's welcoming party soon, and also resolve the original misunderstandings between the two families."
"Of course, if you are willing."
...\n\n...\n\n...
Charlie finished reading the letter quietly, word by word, his eyes finally resting on the signature at the end of the letter.
Narcissa Malfoy.
"Tsk."
His brow furrowed, and after a long time, he took a deep breath and placed the letter on the table.
"Narcissa, Lucius, and... Draco Malfoy."
For a moment, he felt an indescribable complexity in his heart.
He simply pressed his temples habitually, closed his eyes slightly, and lay back in his chair, starting to think aimlessly.
Russell had been carefully observing Charlie's expression from beginning to end.
Seeing his master like this, he naturally knew that he should not disturb him at this moment.
So, he carefully picked up the plate on the long table, tiptoed, and silently retreated from Charlie's office.
The door closed again with the friction of the door shaft. But Charlie still kept his eyes closed, seemingly unaware that Russell had left, or rather, not caring whether he had left.
Because at this time, all his thoughts had been disturbed by this sudden letter.
Memories related to Lucius and Narcissa kept flashing in his mind.
Causing him to fall into entanglement...

Wiltshire, Malfoy Manor
The meticulously designed garden is like a magnificent crown, surrounding the central mansion as the most dazzling jewel.
After opening the exquisite wrought iron gate, it is as if you are passing through layers of surrounding clouds.
When everything suddenly becomes clear, what comes into view is a fountain gushing with flowing water.
Above it, a lifelike sculpture stands tall, a man with restraint and pride on his face raises his chin and looks into the distance, as if he has endless ambitions.
White peacocks with bright feathers stroll leisurely in the courtyard, stretching their necks and chirping softly, or spreading their tail feathers.
Inside the mansion, the magnificent and luxurious decorations can make anyone who enters it for the first time retreat.
Whether it is the incomparably luxurious furniture, or the marble-inlaid fireplace, or the gold-rimmed mirror... etc., etc., each item taken out separately is a luxury that an ordinary wizard cannot exchange for years of hard work.
Not to mention the wide foyer, the portraits of past generations hanging on the walls, and the luxurious carpets covering the entire mansion.
The owner of the mansion seems to be like the white peacock in the garden, proudly displaying his gorgeous feathers, in order to show his extraordinary wealth and status.
However, what people would not expect is that the owner of this manor now.
That "peacock" who should have always been proud is rarely uneasy.
Lucius sat on the sofa, his lips tightly closed, his eyes gazing deeply at one place. I don't know what he was thinking about in a daze.
And his wife, who is also Charlie's sister, Narcissa, was sitting aside, looking at her husband at the moment, she reached out and covered Lucius's hand, and said softly,
"What are you still worried about?"
Lucius's thoughts were interrupted, he turned his head and looked at his wife. He couldn't help but exhale and shook his head.
Turning his palm over, he gently held Narcissa's fair hand. Lucius's voice was still as calm as usual. It's just that he no longer had the unique arrogant tone he usually had when facing other people.
"I'm just not sure... whether what you're doing is right."
After speaking, he couldn't help but take a deep breath and continued.
"You should have asked me before writing that letter, at least..."
Before he could finish his words, Narcissa interrupted him with "at least."
"Lucius..." Narcissa's eyes looked at her husband and called out his name softly.
"He is my brother... and you are my husband."
Lucius seemed to understand what she meant when he heard her words. He opened his mouth, but was speechless for a moment.
"I know you were enemies with him in the war more than ten years ago... but that was also more than ten years ago. And, that was Vol..."
"Narcissa!" Lucius hurriedly opened his mouth and interrupted the name that the other party was about to blurt out.
"...Bellatrix was locked up in Azkaban, and Andromeda was also removed from the family. My father, Cygnus, is dying, as if he could die at any time. Charlie is probably the only relative I have in the Black family... I just hope that Charlie can be on good terms with our family again."
Narcissa continued.
"And didn't you say... Cornelius Fudge values him very much? If you can really get along, maybe you can have better development in the Ministry of Magic."
Lucius lowered his head and remained silent, only the slightly heavy breathing let Narcissa know that he had listened to what she said.
"Also..."
Narcissa held Lucius's hand, sat next to him, and said softly.
"Draco really admires him..."
