Harry Potter and the Candy Factory
#49 - I'll pick up Harry.
The roar of a motorcycle engine shattered the original silence of the neighborhood.
From the sky above, Hagrid's massive figure gradually became clearer to the naked eye, until finally landing completely on the ground.
With a muffled "thump," the motorcycle landed steadily in front of Number Four, Privet Drive, the Dursleys' residence.
After propping up the motorcycle's stand, Hagrid reached up to remove the goggles from his face, then climbed off the motorcycle, standing firmly on the ground once more.
His gaze slowly swept around, eventually settling on the two-story white house in front of him.
The night sky was desolate, with only a few stars twinkling.
The streetlights on both sides of the road flickered, occasionally emitting a "buzzing" sound as if about to short-circuit.
The leaves of the plants in front of the house rustled in the wind, creating a soft, whispering sound.
Hagrid put his hands on his hips and took a deep breath of the night air, feeling the coolness permeate his internal organs.
He smiled, causing the thick beard on his face to twitch along with his mouth.
"What a familiar place... it's exactly the same as it was back then."
He murmured to himself, his memories involuntarily following his voice back to that night ten years ago.
The same summer, the same location, he was also riding this privately modified flying motorcycle...
It's just that back then, his motorcycle was much more beautiful than it is now, even the exhaust pipes were gleaming.
But what more could he ask for? Considering his size, the fact that this motorcycle has lasted for ten years and is still so sturdy is already a remarkable feat.
He remembered that it was not long after Voldemort's downfall.
He received Headmaster Dumbledore's order to place the infant Harry in the sidecar of the motorcycle, set off from Godric's Hollow, and rode all the way here to leave him at the doorstep of this family...
Unexpectedly, in the blink of an eye, ten years have passed so quickly.
Hagrid raised his hands to his mouth and exhaled, confirming whether there was any lingering alcohol smell in his breath.
After all, this was the first meeting in so many years, and even someone as rugged as him couldn't help but want to leave a good impression on Harry.
To this end, he had even made a special trip back to the cabin before coming, found the brown leather jacket that he hadn't worn for a long time, and put it back on.
"Looks like everything is still alright."
Hagrid smoothed his beard and hair again.
After confirming that everything was in order, he took out the carefully prepared cake from the sidecar.
He walked forward, holding the cake in one hand and knocking on the Dursleys' door with the other.
"Bang, bang, bang!!!"
The huge fist slammed against the wooden door, shaking it violently, as if it would break down in the next second.
The sound was so loud that even those standing at the far end of the street could faintly hear the commotion of Hagrid's knocking.
And the Dursley couple, who were already somewhat nervous due to Harry's affairs, naturally couldn't have missed such a loud knock.
Instantly, the two lying in bed were awakened by the noise from downstairs.
"What happened!?"
Petunia helped Vernon sit up, her bloodshot eyes wide with fright, and hurriedly asked.
"I'll go take a look."
Vernon quickly put on his clothes and looked out the window.
As soon as he looked, through the window towards the door, he saw a large figure like a brown bear standing in front of his house.
Even though the night vision wasn't very good, he could still vaguely see from the shadowy figure that a huge palm, almost the size of his face, was hammering on his door.
Immediately, Vernon was so frightened that he almost had a heart attack.
However, in Petunia's eyes, watching her husband stand in front of the window, blocking the entire window with his back, she felt a sense of security for some reason.
Seeing her husband silent, she couldn't help but ask again in a low voice.
"Is it some drunkard from somewhere?"
"P...probably."
Vernon's voice was not calm, but after the initial panic, he quickly reacted.
"You lie down first, I'll go take a look."
As he spoke, he quickly put on his clothes, ran out of the room in a few steps, and rushed downstairs.
Downstairs, Vernon's cheeks were twitching slightly.
He leaned against the wall, staggering towards the door, and casually picked up a vase placed next to the TV.
As if the vase in his hand gave him a lot of courage, Vernon finally mustered up the courage and shouted towards the door.
"Who are you!?"
Outside the door, the original knocking stopped, followed by the voice of the person outside.
"Hagrid."
A heavy, rough voice said through the door, "Rubeus Hagrid!"
Seeing that the other party could communicate, Vernon's tense heart relaxed a little.
He breathed a sigh of relief and continued to shout to Hagrid outside the door.
"I think you've probably got the wrong house, we don't know anyone named Hagrid."
"Yeah, yeah..."
Hagrid's voice sounded a little impatient at this moment.
He didn't want to be polite with this family, and then said.
"I don't want to know you either, to be honest, if it wasn't for Headmaster Dumbledore and Harry, I wouldn't have come to your house!"
"Harry!?"
The moment the familiar name was spoken from his mouth, Vernon's eyebrows twitched, and just as he was about to continue speaking.
Outside the house, Hagrid had already placed his hand on the door.
Without wasting any more words, he glanced at the cake in his other hand, and then suddenly exerted force - only to hear a "Bang!!" sound.
The door, along with the entire door frame, was directly pushed in by Hagrid's hand.
With a "thump," the door was completely ruined, along with the rustling dust and debris, all falling into the house.
"Sorry, I seem to have used a little too much strength."
Hagrid wiped the dust off his hands, glanced at Vernon in the distance, who was holding a vase in his hand, dumbfounded.
Although he politely apologized, there was no trace of apology on his face.
"Clatter"
The vase slipped from Vernon's hand and shattered on the ground.
And his legs could no longer support his body, and he slumped to the ground.
"Alright, I won't waste any more words with you."
Hagrid stepped forward, carefully stepping over the shattered bricks and doors at the entrance, and walked into the house.
He looked around, then casually found a place to put down the cake he had carefully prepared, before opening his mouth to explain his purpose.
"I'm here to take Mr. Harry Potter to Hogwarts to study.
I think you should have received the notification letter sent by Hogwarts, right?"
