Harry Potter and the Candy Factory
#56 - What's that sound?!
“Oh… the candy factory. Google search reading.”
Ron let out a knowing “Oh,” in response.
But the next second, he seemed to suddenly realize something, and the mouth that had been chewing like a squirrel stopped abruptly.
Immediately afterward, his eyes once again fixed intently on Harry.
“Wait… his name is Charlie?”
“Yes, Mr. Charlie.”
“He… owns a candy factory???”
As he said this, Ron's tone seemed barely able to contain itself, and his lips trembled slightly.
“Uh… yes.”
Harry, feeling uneasy under Ron's intense gaze, subtly shrank back against the seat, nodding as he continued to respond.
“He’s Charlie Black!?!?”
… … … … … …
“Be careful, Goyle! You better hold my trunk higher. The things inside are much more valuable than your luggage!”
In the train corridor, Draco still held the large notebook that Charlie had given him, carefully studying each word.
Hearing the faint sounds of bumping from behind, he merely paused, casually rebuking them, but his eyes never left the notebook.
“Sorry… Draco!”
Behind him, Goyle wiped the faint beads of sweat from his face, diligently following orders, lifting the suitcase high, and finally hoisting it onto his shoulder.
He looked at the boy in front of him, who exuded a refinement that was different from ordinary people even from the back, and couldn't help but ask.
“Actually… Draco, do you really think reading on the train is a good idea?”
Behind Goyle, Crabbe, also dragging a pile of luggage, hurriedly poked his head out, sincerely echoing.
“Yes, yes! My dad told me that reading too much will ruin your eyes!”
“Yeah… it's because you believed your dad's words that your eyes are fine, but your brain is broken.”
Draco turned his head, rolling his eyes at the two.
After casually mocking them, he turned his gaze back to the book and continued walking forward.
Leaving Goyle and Crabbe staring at each other, their expressions still somewhat bewildered.
After a moment of stunned silence, they could only sigh and silently continue to drag their luggage, slowly following.
They really couldn't understand what was wrong with Draco. He seemed perfectly normal when they met at the start-of-term banquet, but today he suddenly seemed like a different person, constantly holding that big book and reading it non-stop ever since he joined them.
It's just a book, isn't it?? Even if the two racked their brains, they really couldn't figure out what was so special about it.
Goyle and Crabbe had also secretly glanced at it a few times when Draco wasn't paying attention, but the dense symbols and words seemed to carry some kind of destructive power. Even just one glance made them dizzy and immediately give up.
Honestly, if it weren't for his usual sharp tongue and disdainful eye-rolls, they would really think that the Draco beside them wasn't the real one.
“Hogwarts is almost here! You wouldn't understand the sense of urgency I feel!”
Draco frowned slightly, continuing to read the book as he spoke to Goyle and Crabbe behind him.
“Like my uncle! When he entered Hogwarts, he could already skillfully master twenty spells! I have to keep up with his pace to become a great person like him in the future!”
“No… no way, Draco!?! You want to learn twenty spells before you even get to Hogwarts??”
Goyle and Crabbe were instantly dumbfounded, and the way they looked at Draco now was as if they were looking at a monster.
“How is that possible…”
Fortunately, Draco's answer relieved them.
“I admit, although I am exceptionally talented, I am clearly not qualified compared to my uncle.”
As he said this, Draco took a deep breath, his eyes becoming more determined, as if injected with an invisible force.
“So I have to work even harder to keep up with his pace.”
After speaking, the pace of his forward steps became even more firm.
“That's… too weird.”
Crabbe grimaced, his face twisted like a squash, glanced at Goyle, and muttered softly.
“I still prefer the old Draco…”
Goyle replied listlessly, his expression also beginning to turn sorrowful.
“I hope he can change back as soon as possible…”
“My dad told me when we went back from the banquet that Charlie Black is actually a rich weirdo… I really don't understand why Draco has to become like him?”
“Doesn't his family have enough money already?”
… …
… … …
Just as the two were secretly whispering behind him, Draco in front suddenly seemed to notice something.
“Hmm?”
Draco stopped, his gaze rarely shifting from the book, and began to scan the surrounding compartments.
“Goyle! Crabbe!”
Suddenly, he turned around abruptly, shouting at the two laggards behind him.
“Yes!! Draco!”
“What is it! Draco!”
The sudden sound almost startled the two chubby boys, who were talking badly about Charlie Black behind his back, into jumping up.
They hurriedly pretended that nothing had happened, and quickly caught up with Draco in front with a few strides.
“Did you hear any sounds just now?”
“So… sounds?”
Goyle tugged at his collar somewhat guiltily, his eyes unconsciously drifting to the side.
“Wha… what sound.”
Crabbe behind him also swallowed, carefully shrinking his neck.
“Tsk…”
Draco frowned, looking at their strange expressions. But he didn't think much about it, just muttered in confusion.
“Did I hear wrong? I seemed to hear someone calling my uncle's name…”
As soon as these words came out, the two, who were already feeling guilty, broke out in another cold sweat and quickly shook their heads in denial.
“No, no, we didn't hear Mr. Charlie's name.”
“Maybe you misheard… After all, there are so many people named Charlie.”
Hearing the two's words, Draco's furrowed brow relaxed slightly.
After all, the train was not quiet at the moment. A group of children in their energetic prime gathered together, and it was difficult to truly have a moment without noise.
Various noises, jokes, shouts, and running sounds were endless, filling the entire train.
Even Draco found it difficult to be sure whether he had really misheard, as the two said.
“Okay, maybe I misheard…”
Just as Draco said this, turning his head back around.
And when Goyle and Crabbe secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, a faint voice came out again.
“You actually know Charlie Black!?!?”
“That's not right!”
Draco's relaxed brow immediately furrowed again. This time he was sure, he had definitely heard it clearly!
