Harry Potter and the Old Ones
Chapter 10 The Leaky Cauldron
"Kids, wake up, we have a lot of shopping today." Hagrid's rough roar passed from next to the closet on the first floor through the thick two-story floor to Tierra's and Harry's ears.
Harry sat up sleepily, perhaps because of the excitement of being about to step into the magical world, or perhaps because of the joy of having such a good friend as Tierra, Harry tossed and turned until two or three o'clock last night.
So when he was awakened by Hagrid's piercing voice, it still felt a little unreal.
It seemed that everything that happened yesterday was a dream. In the dream, his parents were no longer losers who achieved nothing, but heroes in the magic world who fought against evil forces. His parents' friends appeared on his eleventh birthday, not only Brought him the first sweet birthday cake in his life, and took him away from the Dursleys' house to make his first friend in this life.
God, if this is a dream, please don't wake me up.
Harry prayed silently and opened his eyes.
The morning sun shines in through the skylight of the attic, and the boy with black hair and black eyes sits at the old wooden table, writing and drawing.
As if sensing Harry's gaze, Tierra looked up from a pile of mathematical formulas on the table.
"Are you up?" Tierra smiled at Harry, revealing two pointed little canine teeth, reminding Harry of the little fox he saw in the zoo on Dudley Dursley's birthday. He smiled, with a sly, cute smile.
"Get dressed and wash up." Tierra said, "Today we're going to Diagon Alley!"
It wasn't until Tierra threw the clothes to Harry that Harry realized that the clothes in his hands were not the ones he wore when he came here, which was full of holes and dust, but a clean set. Clothes he had never seen before.
"I got up early today, and I have nothing to do, so I'll help you wash your clothes." Tierra said with a smile, "You haven't done that yet, so wear mine first."
Tierra and Harry are both eleven years old, because they work in a Chinese restaurant, compared to Harry, Tierra has more food and drink, and under the special care of the proprietress, Tierra's food is even a bit nutritious, so I mentioned Not only was Jella half a head taller than Harry, but he was also slightly stronger, and Harry had no problem wearing his clothes.
Harry pinched Tiera's clean clothes with a little soapy fragrance in his hands, and quickly put them on his head.
Today is a big day for Harry.
If he had the choice, he wouldn't want to walk into the wizarding world in a suit full of holes.
Harry and Tierra, who were dressed, were taken by Hagrid to the Leaky Cauldron.
It was a dingy little bar, sandwiched between a huge bookstore and a record store on the other side, and two streets from Tierra's loft, which wouldn't have happened if Hagrid hadn't pointed it out. Someone noticed such a shabby little bar.
In fact, Tierra has passed by this bar many times, and he needs to pass this street every day when he walks back to his loft in the old city from the Chinese restaurant where he works.
Every time Tierra passed by, she only noticed the bookstore and record store on both sides, and never noticed the Leaky Cauldron between the two buildings.
"It's hard for ordinary people to notice." Hagrid winked at Tierra, "Little wizards and Muggles who come here for the first time won't be able to see the Leaky Cauldron, let alone go in, unless someone brings them with them."
Before Harry and Tierra could speak, Hagrid pushed him into the Leaky Cauldron.
As a place that is very famous both in the wizarding world and in Tierra's previous life, it is too dark and dirty here, far dirtier than what was shown in the movie. Tierra thinks that a third-rate restaurant in any third-tier city in China is worse than that. This one needs to be clean.
In the Leaky Cauldron there were a few old women sitting in a corner drinking sherry from little glasses, and one of them was smoking a long pipe. A small man in a top hat was chatting with a nearly bald barkeep who looked like a sunken walnut.
No sooner had they entered than the chattering stopped suddenly. Everyone seemed to know Hagrid here, they smiled at him, waved and whistled.
"Old rules? Hagrid." A hunchbacked man sitting behind the counter looked at Hagrid while wiping his glass.
"Oh, no, Tom, I'd love to have a drink, but I'm doing some errands for Hogwarts." Hagrid patted the barkeeper on the shoulder with his huge hand, almost pinning him down.
"You know, I never drink when I do business, that's why Dumbledore trusts me." Hagrid said proudly.
"My God," said the barkeeper, turning his attention to the two little boys following Hagrid after Hagrid's refusal, when he saw Harry's almost emerald-green eyes hidden in his messy hair. When he saw the lightning-shaped scar, he screamed like a cat whose tail was stepped on, "Oh, Merlin, this is--is this--"
There was a sudden silence in the Leaky Cauldron.
"Oh!" The bar owner seemed to realize his gaffe, and quickly whispered, "Harry Potter, oh Merlin's beard, it's Harry Potter—it's a great honor."
The barkeeper hurried out from behind the bar, ran towards Harry, grabbed his hand, tears welling up in his eyes.
"Welcome back, Mr. Potter, welcome back." Harry didn't know what to say. Everyone is looking at him. The old woman with the long pipe smoked so hard that she never noticed that the pipe was extinguished.
Hagrid started giggling, and the crackling sound of chairs falling down sounded one after another. All the wizards in the bar came here, no matter old or young, male or female, all kinds of strange People surrounded Harry, and if Tierra hadn't been pulling the cuff of Hagrid's coat, he might have been squeezed out of the circle at this time.
Harry had never seen such a scene before. When he came back to his senses that day, Harry suddenly found himself shaking hands with everyone in the Leaky Cauldron.
"I'm Kodoli, Mr. Potter, I can't believe it, I finally saw you."
"It's an honor, Mr. Potter, it's an honor."
"Long looking forward to shaking your hand—my heart is pounding."
"I'm so happy, Mr. Potter, I can't explain how I feel. My name is Diggle."
"I've seen you before," cried Harry, when Diggle got so excited that his top hat fell off, "you bowed to me once in the shop."
"He still remembers!" Di Ge shouted excitedly to everyone present, "Did you hear that! He, Harry Potter, he remembers me!"
So Harry shook hands over and over again.
Cordoli, the wizard who shook Harry's hand first, always came running up to him to shake him again.
A pale young man approached, looking very nervous, one of his eyes was twitching.
"Professor Quirrell." Hagrid nodded slightly, as if he was greeting him.
"Harry, Tierra, let me introduce you, this is Professor Quirrell, your teacher"
"Bo...bo...Potter," Professor Quirrell stammered, taking Harry's hand, "seeing you is, yes, a kind of, indescribably happy."
Standing next to Hagrid, Tierra noticed that Quirrell was wearing a pair of black gloves on the hand holding Harry.
At this time, a strange thought suddenly flashed through Tierra's mind.
If Professor Quirrell takes off his gloves and shakes Harry's hand now, will the first part of Harry Potter end early?
"What kind of magic do you teach, Professor Quirrell?"
"Dark, dark, Defense Against the Dark Arts," said Professor Quirrell vaguely, as if he thought it best not to mention it. "You've used... used... you don't need to learn that, have you, Bo... Bo... Mr. Potter?"
Quirrell suddenly laughed nervously. "Are you sure, are you going to buy what you need? Just right, I, I, I also... want to go shopping, buy a book about vampires."
But the rest of the people wouldn't let Professor Quirrell talk to Harry. It took Harry about ten minutes to get rid of them. Amidst the chatter, Hegla raised Tierra's voice and called Harry: "It's time to go, there are still a lot of things to buy. Let's go, Harry, don't keep Tierra waiting."
After Cordoli shook hands with Harry for the last time, Hagrid led him across the bar and into the small walled patio. There's nothing here but a trash can and some weeds.
"Sorry Harry, Tierra, I was going to take you to the Leaky Cauldron for breakfast. They make really good mashed potato sandwiches. Even the house elves at Hogwarts don't have that kind of skill." Hagrid grinned at Harry and Tierra, "But now we can only go to Diagon Alley to eat something, um...the delicious sausages are not sold out yet."
Hagrid pulled out his pink umbrella as he spoke.
