Chapter 1241 Lock the city
Wendell is an extremely ordinary Muggle man.
He went to work in the factory every day during the day, working hard for his promotion and salary increase; and when the time came to get off work, he immediately rushed home, just to take one more look at his daughter who had just been born.
To be honest, his life was not actually happy. He had been married to his wife for less than two years. The young couple seemed to have entered a period of burnout all of a sudden. The passionate time before marriage faded faster than a low-quality sweater.
.
There was no way, because of pregnancy and childbirth, his wife quit her job as a mall salesperson. As a result, the burden of maintaining the family's livelihood suddenly fell on Wendell.
In order to make his wife and daughter live a better life, Wendell works hard every day.
Work in the factory is paid on a piece-rate basis, and any daily workload that exceeds the fixed task quota will bring him more pounds as a month-end bonus.
But obviously, it must be very difficult to take care of work and family at the same time. Even though he thinks about his beloved wife and lovely children every day, his tired body and busy schedule make him somewhat unable to accompany them.
Even every night, he always fell asleep with the pillow on his face, making his wife feel like she was lying next to a corpse.
So, just the night before yesterday, his wife, who was originally very gentle, finally had a quarrel with him.
Yes, Wendell can actually understand his wife's feelings. After all, although he works hard, it must be very difficult for his wife to take care of the children and do housework alone at home every day.
But, what can be done about this?
However, Wendell never imagined that just the day after he and his wife quarreled, the whole of London would be enveloped in an incredibly thick fog.
There is no doubt that on such a foggy day when even the indoors become hazy, the factory's production lines must have to be shut down.
This fog seemed to be an opportunity given to him by God, giving him an absolute reason to stay at home with his wife and daughter.
Therefore, while Wendell was complaining loudly this morning, he felt a sense of inexplicable joy in his heart. And he also understood that this joy could not be exchanged for the few pounds he earned every day.
It's a pity that he didn't know it at the time, but this vacation that seemed to fall from the sky was actually a nightmare.
…
"boom"
A dull explosion suddenly sounded from a street not far away, frightening the wife who was washing the dishes and smashed a plate with a crash.
Then, the frightened daughter began to cry.
Wendell quickly ran to the kitchen area, hugged his wife who was in shock, and then lowered his head and looked out the window in front of the sink.
But now there is fog everywhere outside. At first glance, it is just a gray patch, and nothing can be seen clearly.
"Dear, just now...what was that?"
"It sounds like something exploded. Was it a car? Or a natural gas pipeline?" Wendell shook his head, "I don't know, who knows?"
When the wife heard this, she couldn't help but think wildly:
"Could it be...a bomb? An attack?"
"How is that possible!" Wendell immediately patted her arm and comforted her, "It's okay. This is London, it's okay!"
Even if he stood here and looked out, he couldn't see anything clearly. So after saying this, he immediately took his wife and walked into the house.
"Don't wash it yet, let's go see our daughter..."
But before he finished speaking, he suddenly saw another figure running past the window from the corner of his eye. He was so startled that he quickly dragged his wife back two steps.
"What's wrong?" His wife asked quickly, "What happened?"
"No, um..."
Wendell didn't know how to say that their home was an apartment, and this was on the fourth floor! How could someone pass by their window?
Although he felt that his eyesight was very good and he should have seen correctly just now, he still shook his head after hesitating.
"It's nothing. It seemed like a bird or something flew outside just now, which scared me."
"Yeah?"
The wife glanced at the window in confusion, and then whispered:
"Don't be so surprised. I was just shocked by you!"
The couple backed away from the window a little uneasily, and then both turned and walked towards the room. The baby girl had been crying since just now. She must be frightened, and they had to comfort her.
Back in the room, Wendell watched his wife pick up the child, carefully wiped away her tears, held her daughter in her arms and rocked it gently. He first stared at the child with a doting look on his face for a while, and then again
He looked towards the window with some uneasiness.
Just like the kitchen, he could still see nothing when looking out of the window here. Not only that, the mist also penetrated through the gaps in the window, making him very worried about whether it would cause harm to his daughter's health.
Bad effect.
"Dear, this morning I saw that the Wilson family across the street were all going out, as if they were leaving London. I was wondering, should we also take our daughter to my parents' place to stay for a few days?"
"Well, that's fine!"
After hearing this, the wife nodded immediately, but soon said worriedly:
"But...you said you won't encounter danger? Look at the explosion just now...and the TV and radio can't receive signals today."
"It should be fine...right?"
To be honest, Wendell didn't feel confident at all. He only knew that he must not panic, because if he panicked, his wife would definitely be even more scared.
What's more, this is London, the capital of the United Kingdom! If even here is not safe, are there any safe places in the entire UK?
But at this moment, a chaotic sound suddenly came from the door, causing Wendel's expression to freeze.
"It seems to be Wilson? Don't come out, I'll go see what's wrong."
"Be careful!"
Wendell nodded to his worried wife, then immediately turned around and walked out of the room, ran behind the door and listened.
It could be heard that there seemed to be several people arguing about something outside, and it was so messy that it was difficult for him to hear clearly through the door. However, he could still hear Mr. Wilson's voice. He was very familiar with that loud, slightly hoarse voice.
.
The next moment, Wendell carefully opened the door a crack. After first making sure that there was no unknown person outside, he dared to open the door completely.
"...Stop arguing! What's the use of arguing here! Not to mention that the intersection is so blocked, and there are soldiers blocking the outside. You will definitely not be able to get out today! You might as well go home and stay there.
Stay!"
Mr. Wilson's voice was indeed so loud, and he could suppress the voices of his wife and mother alone. But the two women ignored him completely and continued to argue. From what they said, it seemed that Mrs. Wilson
You must leave this "ghost place".
"Wilson, what exactly happened outside?"
When Wendell saw this, he had no choice but to walk over and ask loudly at the top of his lungs. Only then did he see his neighbor turn his head to look at him.
"It's the army. The army has blocked all the roads out of London!" Mr. Wilson immediately waved his hand and said, "There are thugs in the city, but the army doesn't allow us to go out to seek refuge... Oh my God! It's such a mess!"
"Oh! Thug?"
When Wendell heard this, he subconsciously glanced back at home and saw that his wife had indeed not come out after listening to his words. He was slightly relieved. He knew that his wife had never been very courageous. If she heard that there were thugs or something, she would definitely be frightened.
Not light.
On the other side, Mr. Wilson said again:
"Actually, we didn't see the thugs. There was such a heavy fog this morning. I just wanted to go out as early as possible because we originally planned to go to a relative's house today. I drove very slowly along the way.
I didn’t see any thugs or anything like that, and I finally heard about it from someone else after I was stuck on the road.”
"Is that so?" Wendell thought for a while and couldn't help but frowned and said, "Thugs...this sounds really scary! Oh, you should have heard the explosion when you just came back, right? Then...could it be thugs too?
of?"
"Maybe!" Mr. Wilson shrugged, "It sounds like it's on the street next door... Oh, what kind of world is this! It was obviously fine yesterday..."
While the two were talking, Mr. Wilson's wife and mother had already made a noise at home from outside, which finally made the corridor a little quieter.
Mr. Wilson turned his head slightly and then said:
"I have to go back and persuade them again, I'm sorry... Anyway, for now, try to stay at home and don't run around! Remember to lock the door when you get home!"
After saying goodbye to Wendell, Wilson turned around and walked into their home, closing the door tightly.
Seeing him return home, Wendell hurriedly ran back to the living room and quickly closed the door, and then stood blankly at the door with a frown on his face and a solemn look on his face.
Military blockade? Thugs? What the hell is this?
He had never experienced anything like this in his whole life, and for a moment he really didn't know what to do.
"Honey?"
A few minutes later, my wife was probably a little worried when she heard that there was no sound outside, so she suddenly poked her head out of the room and took a peek. Seeing him standing alone at the door, stunned, she couldn't help but call him.
"Oh," Wendell immediately turned around and forced a smile at his wife, "It's indeed the Wilson family. It's okay... The child isn't crying anymore? Is he asleep?"
"Well," the wife gently hugged her daughter and nodded slightly, "Dear, why are Mr. Wilson and the others back? Did something happen outside?"
When his wife asked, Wendell didn't know how to answer, so he couldn't help but remain silent for a moment.
