Hiding in Hogwarts as a professor
Chapter 402
After Voldemort absorbed Peter’s soul, the magic explosion he had previously boasted had only some residual power.
So, seeing that Tweel and Malvolio had raised their wands against him, he dropped Peter’s body without hesitation, sent a dark sign to the sky, quickly turned around and apparated away from here.
Jean Tver’s full blow only hit the ground, exploding a deep pit.
“Asshole!” Tver glared at Malvolio who was pretending to be innocent.
“Didn’t you promise that Voldemort wouldn’t hurt anyone?!”
“I didn’t know that Voldemort would be so angry and angry, and even take it out on Peter Pettigrew…”
Facing Tver in this state, Malvolio shrank his neck.
“After all, we just caught and wooed all the Death Eaters under his command, and also destroyed his Horcrux and resurrected me at the same time…”
“…”
Looking at it this way, Tver felt that they had gone too far…
But looking at Peter Pettigrew lying on the ground with lifeless eyes, he couldn’t help but have a headache again.
Although he didn’t expect Peter Pettigrew to live well, he hoped to have a spy, a spy under Tver’s orders, to spy on Voldemort’s information for him.
Especially now that Voldemort is going astray, this kind of information is particularly important!
Otherwise, an accident like tonight’s might happen again, and the person who died would not be a traitor like Peter…
“Then do you think he noticed something strange about Peter?” Malvolio frowned and looked at Peter, realizing this problem.
“I don’t know, but judging from the last time he tested magic, Voldemort may have realized something was wrong. With his suspicious character, he would not allow a time bomb around him.” Tver said helplessly.
After the last time Voldemort fixed Peter, he asked Peter to send him as little information as possible.
Peter did a good job and didn’t tell them about little Barty…
Unexpectedly, it still aroused Voldemort’s suspicion.
For Voldemort, it is obvious that he would rather kill the wrong person than let Peter go.
“Then what should we do now? We can’t tell Peter’s story so brazenly, can we?”
Malvolio pointed at Peter, and then gestured behind Tver with his chin. The four warriors looked curious, but did not dare to come over.
After all, Voldemort’s magical explosion just caused the land here to be lifted up with a foot of soil.
Tver’s angry blow blew up a hole in the obviously concave pit, enough to bury several Peters.
Facing professors in this state, even Viktor, who is good at seeking death, and Harry, who is “brave”, dare not provoke…
Turville shook his head and rejected Malvolio’s proposal.
“If the news of Peter’s death is concealed, Voldemort may be more suspicious, and it will become more difficult for us to continue to place undercover agents in the future.”
For example, a certain Potions Professor was their last choice to spy on Voldemort, and they couldn’t afford such a loss.
What’s more, Dumbledore wouldn’t want to see him have an accident, otherwise it would be Tver who would be blamed!
“So, based on the fact that Voldemort killed his subordinates with his own hands, the real traitor Peter was returned to the Ministry of Magic?”
“Yes, it is an unexpected gain for Fudge to bear some criticism.” Tver dug deeper into the hole where Fudge was buried.
“You, you don’t forget to trick people even when you are in trouble!”
Malvolio knelt down with emotion and straightened Peter’s messy clothes – after all, this could be considered a small feat for him~
“Hey, what is this?” He pulled out a folded piece of paper from Peter’s coat pocket doubtfully.
“The intelligence letter Peter plans to send us?”
Tver took it curiously and unfolded it, revealing a rather long letter.
“To Professor Foley:”
“I think when you read this letter, I have already died at the hands of the Dark Lord, so I have to use this method to tell you something.”
“As for why I think you saw this letter, it’s because I think you should be the only person in the world besides my mother who is willing to bury me.”
“It’s really sad when I think about it. I have tried my best to survive for so many years, but no one is willing to bury my friend.”
“I know very well that from the moment I chose to betray James and Lily, death was a fate that I could not escape.”
“I have been struggling for more than ten years, humbly acting like a mouse, just trying to survive for a few more years.”
“Xiao Tian
Wolf Star always said that you should live vigorously, even if you die now, it doesn’t matter. People like you must not understand my thoughts like a mouse, right? ”
“Actually, everyone doesn’t know that I’m afraid of dawn.”
“I’m afraid that when I wake up every day, I have to face the never-ending war.”
“Or, seeing a comrade leave us forever…”
“So when faced with the threat of the Dark Lord, I shamefully betrayed everyone.”
“I’m sorry, I was so scared back then. I was afraid that I would never see the sun tomorrow again, and I was also afraid that the sun tomorrow would tell me that even if I lived another day, the shadow of death would still hang over me.”
“But in fact, death has always been with me…”
“When you asked me to return to the Dark Lord as an undercover agent, I was scared, complained, and even resented your threat.”
“I’m just a little mouse, what’s the point of you big guys staring at me all the time?”
“But I still want to thank you. It was you who inspired me with the courage for the first time and allowed me to do things that I never dared to do in my life!”
“Ever since the Dark Lord intended to absorb my soul, I realized that either my identity would be exposed sooner or later, or I would be angered by the Dark Lord!”
“so!”
“I used the method the Dark Lord taught me, and with the help of the crystal you left in my mind, I hid a curse deep in my soul!”
“If the Dark Lord really absorbs my soul one day, then this curse will be transferred to the Dark Lord’s soul and be deeply hidden…”
“Until one day, like a mouse, it gnawed a gap in the Dark Lord’s life!”
“Of course, I am destined not to see that day.”
“I don’t expect Harry to forgive me, nor do I expect a big shot like you to look down upon me.”
“I only hope that every timid child will no longer have to face life and death choices brought about by war, and I also hope that they will not be as cowardly as me…”
“Good night, Professor.”
“Good night, Peter.”
…
The main text contains more than 2,000 words. I have no idea of adding up the number of words for the following content. It was originally intended to be included in the author’s statement, but there are too many words to fit there, so I have to post it here!
Regarding this part of the plot of Peter Pettigrew, I was actually very hesitant.
I originally thought about giving Peter a way to die by strangling himself according to the original novel, so it wouldn’t take so much thinking.
But during the time I was writing this book, I re-read the original work several times. The more I read it, the more I regretted the simplicity of the character Peter Pettigrew in the original work.
When I first read the original Harry Potter book, it was during the summer vacation of sixth grade and first year of middle school. At that time, I always felt that the world was black and white. Bad guys like Pettigrew would of course die early. Supernatural is good, but when I saw Peter die because he concealed Harry’s existence, I felt that my already unreliable outlook on life was greatly impacted, second only to the plot of Snape later!
I was both excited and regretful at the time.
I’m excited because I think the character of Peter is very real and complex, full of human cowardice but with a hint of brilliance. But unfortunately, Rowling didn’t put too much emphasis on Peter’s portrayal. Maybe it was the same as Snape. There may be some overlap.
But I always feel regretful, so when writing this fanfic, I deliberately added more words to Peter Pettigrew.
I am not trying to whitewash him. His mistakes and cowardice are obvious, and he should suffer the consequences.
It’s just that Peter also deserves a better, more nuanced portrayal.
For example, if there is a war, if it were me, I would not be able to bear the torture during the war years. Of course, I would rather die than imagine the pain of torture.
Therefore, Peter actually plays such a character, which is very real to reality and must exist.
But if there is no war, then Peter is still very timid, but he has no chance to betray James. He is likely to be an ordinary wizard, go to work, find an equally ordinary wife to marry and have children, or remain single all his life, and finally die of old age.
There is no fear and no betrayal.
Therefore, he was one of the ordinary people caught up in the war. He was overwhelmed by the fear brought by the war, but he also launched a betrayer’s last resistance.
We can resent him and feel angry for him, but we can also mourn his misfortune.
Because the first thing to criticize is actually war and those who start war.
A very simple truth – human nature cannot be tested.
It is easy for us to criticize Peter, but we must reflect on how
Avoiding more of Peter was difficult.
This is my interpretation of Rowling’s creation of a character like Peter. Thank you all for reading this, and thank you for your continued support!
