Chapter 168 Dumbledore's Departure

Not long after, all the students from the four colleges gathered in the auditorium.

Except for Slytherin, the students in the other three houses looked confused.

"Today, we suffered... an extremely huge loss."

Dumbledore's voice revealed sadness.

"Just now...the attack happened again..."

"The attack occurred in the Slytherin common room, resulting in the death of a student."

The auditorium immediately exploded, but the Slytherin side fell silent.

The Slytherin students originally thought that they would not be attacked, but what happened tonight slapped them hard in the face, shattering their illusions in an instant.

Panic quickly spread among the Slytherin students.

The other three colleges were also talking a lot, and Dumbledore had to use a loud voice to drown out their voices.

"For your own safety, you must stay here overnight."

Dumbledore waved his wand, and the four long tables in the auditorium immediately moved to the wall, and hundreds of sleeping bags appeared on the floor.

After arranging for the prefects and student union president to help manage order in the auditorium, Dumbledore left the auditorium.

Professors McGonagall and Snape both left with him.

Professor Sprout and Professor Flitwick stayed in the auditorium to look after the safety of the students.

Kyle didn't follow him out. He lay silently in his sleeping bag, thinking about what happened earlier.

The massacre in the Forbidden Forest, the attacks one after another...

What did Tom Riddle want to do in his youth?

If he wanted to reshape his body like Voldemort last year...

No, if you sacrifice a large number of creatures, you will only let the negative energy of black magic corrode your body.

Not to mention the young Voldemort, even the main soul of Voldemort would not do such stupid things.

Kyle seemed to catch a glimmer of inspiration in the haze, but it seemed like he didn't catch anything.

He thought hard for a long time, but due to the lack of key clues, he failed to come up with a possible answer.

Kyle turned over irritably, huddled in his sleeping bag and fell asleep.

Early the next morning, Kyle was awakened by a fierce argument at the door of the auditorium.

Dumbledore stood at the door of the auditorium arguing with a very strange-looking man.

The stranger was short, chubby and stocky, with messy gray hair and an anxious look on his face.

He wore a pinstriped suit, a long black cloak, and a dark green top hat under his arm.

"Professor Dumbledore, Hagrid's criminal record is very detrimental to him. The Ministry of Magic has to take necessary measures..."

"Connelly, I have stated again and again that Lockhart is the murderer who opened the Chamber of Secrets. Taking Hagrid away will not help at all."

Kyle walked out of the Great Hall, and he saw Dumbledore's blue eyes flashing with an anger he had never seen before.

Cornelius Fudge played with his top hat in his hand, "But, Albus, where is Lockhart?"

"He ran away." Professor McGonagall said with a gloomy expression.

"So you didn't catch him at all, and there's no evidence that he was the murderer, right?"

"I hope you understand, Cornelius, that I have complete trust in Hagrid," Dumbledore said, frowning at Fudge.

"But the attack resulted in the death of a pure-blood student! The Ministry of Magic was under great pressure, and I had to take him away."

Before Dumbledore could speak, Fudge said quickly: "If you can prove that Lockhart is the real murderer, we will put Hagrid back."

Students in the auditorium have woken up one after another and crowded to the door to watch.

There was a sound of heavy footsteps outside the castle door, and Hagrid's figure appeared at the door of the auditorium, followed by two Aurors from the Ministry of Magic.

"I think we should go." Fudge put the top hat back on his head.

"Can I have a few words with Hagrid? Mr. Minister." Kyle, who used contact lenses to cover up his original eye color, stood in front of Fudge.

Fudge obviously recognized this child from the Dumbledore family, so he nodded, agreeing to Kyle's request.

Kyle walked up to Hagrid and pulled his sleeve to signal him to lean down.

"If people from the Ministry of Magic want to do something against you, just activate the Eight Gates of Escape. Don't worry about the consequences. Professor Dumbledore and I will help you handle it."

Hagrid nodded solemnly.

At this moment, a man strode into the foyer of the castle.

Lucius Malfoy was wrapped tightly in a long black traveling cloak, with a cold, contented smile on his face.

Kyle felt a deep sense of disgust in his heart.

"What are you doing, Lucius?" said Dumbledore.

He spoke politely, but the rage still burned in his blue eyes.

Lucius slowly took out a roll of parchment from his arms, "The board of directors thinks it's time to let you go. This is the suspension order - you will see that all twelve directors have signed it."

Fudge looked panicked.

"Dumbledore was deposed...We at the Ministry of Magic are absolutely unwilling to see such a thing. If there is no Dumbledore, who can prevent the attack from happening?"

Lucius said in a flat tone: "Mr. Minister, even if Dumbledore was not removed, he failed to prevent these attacks, which shows his incompetence..."

The next second, Lucius flew out of the castle foyer like a rag doll, and no one could react.

Kyle's figure appeared at the position where Lucius had just stood, and he slowly retracted his kicked foot.

"Sorry, Mr. Minister." Kyle said without apology, "I heard a dog barking and couldn't hold it back for a while."

Fudge wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. He didn't know how to respond for a moment.

"I will respect the decision of the school board." Dumbledore said while looking in the direction where Lucius disappeared, but it was unclear whether Lucius could hear him.

Then he turned around, faced the students behind him, and said in a very slow and clear tone:

"You don't have to worry. I will only truly leave this school when everyone here betrays me."

"Dumbledore..." Fudge tried to persuade him to stay, but Dumbledore had already walked out of the castle without looking back.

Fudge took a deep breath, looked at Hagrid, and waited for Hagrid to walk in front of him.

But Hagrid didn't move his steps immediately. His eyes kept searching among the surrounding students.

"If someone is looking for something, they just have to follow the spider and they'll find themselves in the right direction! That's all I'm saying."

Then Hagrid also strode out of the castle.
