Hogwarts Emerald

Chapter 69 Puppy Galleon

A few days after receiving the Hogwarts letter, Mrs. Weasley took her whole family to Diagon Alley, and Ada even asked for a day off.

Mrs. Weasley held Ginny's hand to prevent her from being swept away by the crowds in Diagon Alley, Ron held onto the hem of Mr. Weasley's robe, and Charlie took the twins and Ada.

Percy was not with everyone. As soon as he arrived in Diagon Alley, he ran to Flourish and Blotts Bookstore to read.

The twins have always wanted to go to Knockturn Alley. They were full of curiosity about it, but the Weasleys did not allow them to go. There were dragons and snakes mixed with everyone there, and the shops in the alleys also sold dark magic items. .

This kind of dangerous place is not the place where a little wizard should go!

Mr. Weasley took Charlie, Ron and the twins to a second-hand bookstore to buy books. Mrs. Weasley took Ada and Ginny to Madam Malkin's Robe Shop. Ada needed to buy a new school robe.

Mrs. Malkin still has an impression of Ada. She still remembers Ada coming to her to look for a job a month ago. She warmly welcomed Ada and the others into the store.

Ada stood on the footstool again, and Madam Malkin measured her again for the school robe. After taking the measurements, Ada chose two additional robes of different styles. The color she originally selected was dark, but Mrs. Weasley suggested that she choose a light color. Mrs. Weasley felt that Ada was too young at her age. Should wear something brighter. Eventually Ada followed Mrs. Weasley's suggestion and changed the color of one of them to sky blue.

After coming out of Madam Malkin's robe shop, Mrs. Weasley went to Flourish and Blotts Bookstore to find Percy. She wanted to take Percy to buy robes.

Ada took Ginny to Florin's Ice Cream Shop, where she had been craving ice cream for a long time. The sun was bright, Ada and Ginny were sitting under the umbrella and eating delicious ice cream. Ada had fulfilled a small wish.

Several customers enjoying cold drinks together showed each other their purchases. There were also many parents sitting here with their children to rest. As the school year approaches, parents and children buying school supplies can be seen in Diagon Alley every day.

After a while, the twins, who didn't know where they got the news, brought Ron to the cold drink shop. Without being polite to Ada, they ordered a large portion of raspberry ice cream.

Store owner Florin Fusco also gave Ada and the others a new flavor of ice cream for free. This is a flavor he has just developed and has not yet been officially put on the shelves.

Ada paid for the ice cream and the five of them walked across the street to the Fantastic Beasts Shop.

The twins suggested that Ada spend ten galleons to buy an owl, but Ada had no one to contact by mail, so instead of going to the Eela Owl Shop, they went to the Magical Beasts Shop to buy another pet. .

The store was very small, with cages hanging densely on the walls. There was a smell in the air and it was very noisy. There are many animals for sale here: poisonous colorful snails, giant turtles with gem-studded shells, black mice full of expression, deformed rabbits, etc.

This store is indeed as magical as its name. The animals here are all magical, and the most ordinary-looking ones are the cats (except for the ginger cat that looks as big as a tiger cub).

Ada didn't want to keep a cat, let alone these strange animals. Her eyes swept through the cages in the store one by one. There was no animal here that Ada had the urge to take home.

"Ginny, what are you looking at?" Fred walked to his little sister and found that Ginny had been looking at a cage for a long time.

"This puppy seems to be sick and has been ignoring me." Ginny said. There was a motionless off-white puppy lying in the cage in front of her. This puppy looked to be three or four months old. .

"Hey! Look at me, why don't you move?" Freddie flicked the cage a few times.

The off-white puppy ignored Fred and didn't even open his eyes. If its belly wasn't still heaving, Fred would have thought the puppy was dead.

Ada, who heard the sound, also came over. This puppy looked very much like a Labrador, but it was neither sunny, cheerful nor lively, and its aloof appearance was different from the Labrador in her impression. A little more is different.

"Maybe he's sick..." Ada said. The puppy opened his eyes and glanced at the noisy crowd, then closed his eyes again.

"It's not sick, it's always been like this." The witch who manages the store said, "It's been a month and no one wants to take it away like this."

"Are you sure it doesn't have any disease? Why does it look like it's about to die?" George turned back to the witch and asked.

The witch shook her head. She didn’t know that this puppy was in good condition. If it had been more lively, it would have been sold long ago. The witch said: “No, we have checked it many times and there is no problem at all. Maybe... …You’re just lazy!”

"How about we buy it and take it home?" Ada asked Ginny's shoulder.

I know you've made money, but you can't be so harmful if you have two pieces of bad money! The twins quickly stopped the impulsive Ada, fearing that Ada would just run over and hand over the money to the witch with one hand and the dog with the other.

"Did the ice cream just freeze your brain? Isn't it a waste of money for you to buy such a sick boy?" Fred whispered in Ada's ear.

"He is the only one in the whole store that looks pleasing to the eye. Mainly because he is honest and doesn't run around. The other animals are too lively for my liking."

After hearing this, the black mice who were trying their best to show themselves stopped playing jumping games; the shape-shifting rabbits stopped turning themselves into satin top hats; and the funny fluff balls the color of custard stopped buzzing. The sound was heard.

The off-white Labrador, who was originally as quiet as a dead dog, suddenly stood up, walked back and forth in its small cage, and made a low threatening sound.

Abnormal and completely different from the other two dogs, it successfully gained everyone's attention. Now it doesn't look sick and crooked at all. Its low bark seems to tell Ada: The melon is not sweet.

"Look, isn't it very healthy!" Ada smiled and said to everyone, "We have decided, we will buy it."

The puppy stopped barking. It tilted its head and looked at Ada, with big doubts in its small eyes.

After leaving the Fantastic Beasts Shop, the five people walked on the road. They were now going back to the Leaky Cauldron to meet Mr. and Mrs. Weasley. Fred was carrying the cage and dog food in his hands, George was holding the doghouse in his arms, and Ron was holding the puppy's toys. The three of them followed Ada and Ginny with their heads lowered.

Ada held the puppy in her arms. She named it "Garen", but Ginny wanted to call it Little G. The Labrador seemed to prefer Ginny's name.

The puppy leaned listlessly in Ada's arms without struggling, as if he had resigned himself to his fate. Ginny kept teasing it, but it didn't respond and turned into a dead dog again.

Returning to the Burrow in the afternoon, Ada and Ginny placed Garleon's kennel in the corner of the shed. Ada gave it an afternoon's education, mainly on not peeing in the open.

After going out, Ada's money bag was a lot deflated, which made her work even harder at the bar and would no longer return to the Burrow at five o'clock. This made Tom's toothless mouth crack. More open.

The puppy Garen was also very obedient during this period and would not bark or urinate anywhere. Everyone liked him very much. Ginny walked him in the morning and afternoon, and Ada took her with her when she and the twins went for a walk in the evening before bed.

The person who dislikes Garleons the most in the Burrow is Percy. Garleons is always very interested in Percy's pet rat Scabbers. If Percy hadn't discovered it in time, Scabbers would have died under the dog's claws.

It's understandable that Garen doesn't get close to Percy, because Percy is always mean to him, but he also doesn't get close to his master Ada.

Others called it, and after calling it, it ran over in a hurry. It didn't look aloof like it did in the pet shop. Ada is the complete opposite. If Ada doesn't threaten it, Garen will not pay attention to its owner at all. He is extremely cold and aloof.

Ada had nothing to do with it, and she cried to keep the dog she bought.

Maybe it was because there were so many people in the Burrow that it couldn't tell who its owner was. Maybe it would be fine if it got to Hogwarts. This was the only reason Ada could think of to comfort herself.
