Hogwarts: Harry Returns From The Witcher
Chapter 96 Mouse and Cat (11th update, please subscribe~)
"Crookshanks, Hermione's pet." Harry introduced him with puzzled eyes, "I remember you were only afraid of spiders, when did you become afraid of cats?"
Ron stared at Crookshanks, carefully: "I'm not afraid of cats, I met it in a pet shop."
"Huh?" Harry continued to wonder, "You were beaten by a cat?"
Ron was ashamed: "No, how is it possible, I don't have it, I will be beaten by a cat?"
Crookshanks shook his head, arched into Hermione's arms, and let out a dissatisfied grunt.
"Hermione, you must hold it." Ron took out his own mouse while watching. "Since returning from Egypt, Scabbers has been in a bad state."
It became thinner, more listless, with dry weedy fur and a sickly appearance.
"I went to the pet store to check, and the clerk said there was nothing wrong with it, maybe it was too old." Ron sighed and poked Scabbers on the head.
All his stuff is second hand.
Pets are no exception.
But after all, pets are different from ordinary objects. Living things can easily breed feelings.
Scabbers is ugly, even disabled, and missing a toe, but he has survived for more than two years, and Ron can't bear to watch him die emotionally.
"Just as I was about to buy rat tonic, this nasty cat pounced on me and nearly ate Scabbers!" Ron gritted his teeth. "Fortunately, Scabbers was clever and escaped. It took me a long time to find him."
Hermione froze for a moment, her gaze involuntarily fell on the book she was flipping through just now.
The cat catches the mouse, as it should be.
But the words she saw just now kept circling in her mind, which made her vaguely feel that something was wrong.
She looked at Harry again, his face remained unchanged, and asked with great concern, "How old is Scabbers?"
Ron was taken aback, frowned and shook his head: "I don't know, but it was Bill's pet a long time ago. Bill gave it to Percy, and Percy became a prefect. After he got an owl, he gave Scabbers to me."
"That's at least thirteen years." Harry said with some emotion, "As a mouse, it's long enough."
Ron didn't notice anything wrong, sighed, and looked at Hermione: "At least let Scabbers die of old age, don't let him die in Crookshanks' mouth."
Hermione opened her mouth to say something.
Harry raised his hand and poked Crookshanks on the head: "Did you hear me, don't do anything to Scabbers."
Crookshanks bared his teeth, twitched his beard, meowed reluctantly, turned his head over, and arched his head into Hermione's arms again.
The future life of Meow is a bit bleak.
Meet such a dangerous person.
They talked for a while, and Ron waved his hand, going home first.
"Banban may not be an ordinary mouse!" Hermione pressed Crookshanks' head and said impatiently when Ron's figure disappeared from sight.
"I know." Harry nodded, thought for a while, took out a few pieces of owl rations from his pocket, and handed them to Crookshanks, "What do you think it might be?"
Hermione frowned.
Crookshanks turned his head in disgust, sniffing, the smell was somewhat attractive.
It paused, clawed, and swept the ration into its mouth.
The cat's eyes lit up instantly.
Stepping on Hermione's knee, jumped into Harry's arms, arched his head in favor of him, swept his tail, and was extremely happy.
"I still like your rebellious look just now." Harry teased Crookshanks.
Aunt Petunia's skill can always subdue these magical creatures with great precision.
Hermione clattered the pages of the book.
When it was getting dark, she put down the book in frustration: "I didn't find it. Banban doesn't seem to have any characteristics of a magical creature, just like an ordinary chipmunk."
"Why do you think it must be a magical animal." Harry rubbed Crookshanks' belly, which was lying on its belly with a big grin, snoring, "Maybe he could be something else."
"Him?" Hermione was taken aback. It was a male personal word. "You mean he might be an Animagus?"
Harry nodded.
"Is...impossible?" Hermione hesitated, "Banban has been a pet for thirteen years."
"Rats can't live that long, but humans can." Harry followed Crookshanks' tail, "You have to try to trust your pet."
Crookshanks echoed his words with a lazy meow.
"But the wizard has been in the Animagus state for too long, and it is very likely that he will be assimilated by the Animagus and eventually become a real beast." Hermione frowned.
She was by Harry's side and knew a little about Animagus.
"Who knows?" Harry lowered his head and pulled out the amulet, "but it should be harmless, no malice perceived."
"And it has been in the Weasleys' house for thirteen years. If it wanted to do something, it would have done it long ago."
Hermione nodded in agreement: "It is also impossible to predict that the Weasley family will win a big prize thirteen years later."
It's not worth it to work so hard just for these hundreds of Galleons.
They chatted for a while, and Hermione left with Crookshanks in her arms.
Harry also borrowed the fireplace to go back after having a drink at the Leaky Cauldron.
As Professor Flitwick had been looking forward to, the school day finally arrived.
The night of August 31st.
There was a knock on the door.
Professor Flitwick opened the door, and a group of Aurors filed in. The leader was an old acquaintance, Scrimgeour, who had met once at Hogwarts.
"What are you here for?" Flitwick frowned, "I haven't been notified by the Ministry of Magic."
Scrimgeour waved his hands and said with a smile: "My dear Professor Flitwick, relax a bit, we are here to protect Mr. Potter."
"After all, you also know that that person has escaped, and his target is probably Potter."
Harry poked his head out and looked at him calmly: "The Ministry of Magic is coming to protect my safety? Are you sure?"
Scrimgeour's eyelids trembled, remembering what happened in the castle this year, but he still nodded: "Of course."
"In terms of strength, it's okay for me to protect your safety, right?" Harry didn't save him any face, "Mr. Scrimgeour, these Aurors..."
"This is an order from the Ministry of Magic." Scrimgeour interrupted him, trying to save himself the last bit of face.
"I'm not Professor Dumbledore." Harry waved his wand, and the floor surged like waves.
Except for a few Aurors who held their wands up and managed to keep themselves still, about half of them fell to the ground before they had time to react, and were sent out the door by Harry.
"Look." Harry spread his hands, his face full of innocence.
Scrimgeour shook his head: "Mr. Potter, the Ministry of Magic needs to convince others that we are protecting you."
"For the sake of us dealing with the basilisk together..."
Harry said softly: "Mr. Scrimgeour, are you going to issue a commission to me?"
Scrimgeour was taken aback.
The scene of haggling between Harry and Snape came to mind, and he nodded cruelly, "If that's okay."
