Hogwarts Homecoming
Chapter 1204 Request
With anticipation, Harry, Ron and Hermione arrived at the Potions classroom in the basement.
The Ravenclaw students they had just met in the courtyard were delayed for a while. When Harry and the others entered the classroom, the place was already filled with students from Slytherin and Gryffindor houses.
The classroom was very quiet. Harry guessed that this was because everyone couldn't figure out the reason for Professor Slughorn's style, so they behaved more reservedly.
One change that Harry was happy to see was that, unlike Snape, Professor Slughorn was finally willing to open the curtains of this dark classroom.
However, due to the bad weather and the various steams that filled the classroom, the visibility here was still terrible.
Among these mixed scents, Harry was surprised to notice the floral scent that he liked very much.
His eyes wandered back and forth, and in a blink of an eye, he found Draco Malfoy staying in his usual seat, with a hint of hesitation in his cold eyes.
Before Harry could figure out what was going on with Draco Malfoy's weird eyes——
"Aha, the most important 'guest' is finally here!"
Professor Slughorn's voice came from behind the erratic steam, drawing everyone's attention to him.
Harry froze in place, a little at a loss, while Ron and Hermione "very shamefully" took a few steps away from him and quickly found a place to sit down.
"Come on, Harry, sit down here. There's an empty seat here—"
Slughorn waved to Harry happily, then pointed to the location closest to the cauldrons placed in front of the podium.
There were some chuckles in the classroom, coming from the Slytherin side. They were happy to see that even if the professor changed in this class, Harry would still be the focus of attention.
Harry could only walk over and sit alone in that position under Professor Slughorn's smiling gaze.
"Okay, I think we're all here--"
said Slughorn, puffing out his chest and about to burst the buttons of his waistcoat.
"Dear students, please take out your scales, medicine bags, and don't forget to take out your textbooks. Today we are going to learn about palliatives, which are a kind of--"
Professor Slughorn returned to the podium, opened the textbook, and prepared to start class--
"Professor Slughorn—"
Slughorn was interrupted by a voice behind Harry who Harry recognized as Parvati Patil's voice.
"What's wrong, honey?"
Just this reply made Harry feel relieved - Snape would never call a Gryffindor student 'darling', and under normal circumstances, he would not allow Gryffindor students to call them 'honey'. Students ask questions.
"Those cauldrons--"
It could be heard from Patil's tight voice that she was also shocked by her 'bold' behavior, but she still mustered up her courage.
"Those crucibles. What are they?"
Patil was referring to the rows of cauldrons in front of Harry, which were boiling various potions, and Harry had already discovered that one of the cauldrons was emitting the floral fragrance that Harry liked.
"Oh, what are you talking about-"
Slughorn said with a smile,
"My first two classes were students in the NEWTS course. I prepared these to open their eyes. I thought they would recognize at least one or two of them."
Sighing, Slughorn said with a hint of regret,
"But judging from the results, it seems that none of them read the textbooks in advance during the summer vacation, and the small gifts that I worked hard to prepare were not given out."
Even Harry looked at Professor Slughorn curiously.
Parvati, who was not reprimanded, made the Gryffindor students excited. They had always kept their heads down in this class.
"What gift is it, Professor?"
Many Gryffindor students sitting in the back left their seats and stretched their heads to look at the cauldrons. Lavender asked the question for everyone.
"Hey, let's do a test first--"
Professor Slughorn seemed to have suddenly made a decision. He looked at the students with interest.
"If anyone can recognize these potions, I will give you the chance to obtain them. I mean, the surprise I prepared for the NEWTS students--"
With a crash, everyone, including the Slytherins, looked at Hermione, and Hermione's cheeks were brightly red.
"Oh, your eyes tell me who is the best. Miss, what should I call you?"
Slughorn looked over with everyone's gaze in surprise.
"Hermione Granger, sir--"
Hermione took a deep breath and stood up calmly.
"So, Miss Granger, can you introduce us to the potions in these cauldrons?"
"This is Veritaserum, a colorless and odorless potion that forces those who drink it to tell the truth," Hermione said.
"Ah, very good, very good, please continue, Miss Granger--"
Slughorn smiled with satisfaction.
Harry himself could recognize the potion in the second crucible, so Hermione couldn't make a mistake. After all, Hermione had brewed it herself.
By the time Hermione identified the love potion in the third crucible and told how she identified it, Professor Slughorn's eyes were already shining.
"Hermione Granger, Granger?"
Professor Slughorn smiled kindly at Hermione,
"Are you related to Hector Dagworth Granger, founder of the Society of Extraordinary Apothecaries?"
"No, probably not, sir, I am a Muggle."
Amidst a burst of sneers, Hermione said calmly, but then she showed a bit of shame,
"But I don't know what's in this crucible."
Hermione was referring to the potion that was splashing like molten gold in the fourth small black cauldron!
"Hey, it's a very wonderful potion. Not many people have seen how it is brewed, but I bet you have heard of its name - Elixir of Fortune!"
"Lucky Potion!"
Hermione exclaimed excitedly,
"It will bring good luck!"
"That's right, Miss Granger!"
Under everyone's gaze, Professor Slughorn took out a small corked glass bottle from his pocket.
"This is the small prize I prepared for the students in the NEWTS class, but they have no ability to take it away. Since Miss Granger has won the opportunity for you, if someone in this class can make a palliative that satisfies me-"
Everyone's emotions were aroused. The Slytherins no longer looked at Professor Slughorn with a critical look, but stared longingly at the small bottle containing the golden liquid.
Harry noticed that Malfoy hunched over from his seat and walked to the front, looking like he was determined to win.
"Okay, Miss Granger, you've earned twenty points for Gryffindor. Now, you're back in your seat -"
Professor Slughorn walked back to the podium,
"All the pharmaceutical steps are on the blackboard. I hope you will follow the steps faithfully. Of course, I don't expect anyone to be perfect, as long as..."
There was only a harsh scratching sound as everyone pulled the crucible in front of them, and then there was the sound of clanging weights on the scale.
Malfoy, who wanted to put his face to the blackboard and stare at the words, made Harry frown slightly. He turned his head, and Ron, who was originally at the table with Neville, also changed his position. He shyly His face squeezed next to Hermione's.
A vial of a potion that brings luck.
Harry's heart also felt slightly hot. For some reason, the image of Ginny in pajamas suddenly popped into his mind, and the sweet smell of the pot of love potion still brewing in front of him became even more tempting.
Is Felixir effective or Love potion more effective?
Harry was startled by the thought that popped into his head.
He quickly shook his head, gathered his thoughts back, and began to focus on his own affairs -
The Forbidden Forest is just a short distance away from the Hogwarts campus.
Amosta waved his wand intently, and pieces of oak planks floated into the air. A two-story oak cabin with a triangular roof soon appeared on the site that had been cleared in advance.
"Actually, there's no need to go to such trouble, Mr. Blaine -"
Behind Amosta, a middle-aged man wearing an off-white linen blouse and trousers watched the scene silently, hesitated and said.
"I hope you can feel the sincerity of Hogwarts, Frommid--"
Amosta focused solely on adding to the Oak House and never looked back.
The man behind him looked even more hesitant upon hearing this. When the last plank flew onto the roof, he finally couldn't help but ask,
"I understand the request...perhaps, but could you please try to save Miss Cliona, Mr. Brain?" (End of Chapter)
