Hogwarts Homecoming
Chapter 1230: Poor Youth
Countless chaotic lights and shadows flashed in front of Amosta's eyes, which was dazzling, and only a moment later, the soles of his feet touched solid ground.
The powerful spiritual power suppressed the fainting sensation caused by Apparition to the human body, and the discomfort of appearing across a long distance was eliminated with every breath of Amosta.
Turning to look at Dumbledore beside him, Amosta couldn't help but marvel.
Dumbledore, who was over 100 years old, also looked as usual, without much burden.
The cool air poured into his nose, which refreshed Amosta's spirit. He let his eyes wander between the vast sky and earth. In the sky, a dim moon hung on the sky of the first night.
"I'm afraid we still need to go a few more steps--"
Dumbledore seemed to be in a good mood. He took a long breath, smiled and took the first step.
The rich moisture in the air soaks the soil under your feet, leaving clear footprints on the earth with every step you take.
Amosta followed Dumbledore up a few steps and walked around a cluster of tall bushes, and his vision suddenly became clearer again.
They were on the ridgeline of a gently sloping hillside, and the wide view allowed Amosta to take in a panoramic view of the nearby scenery.
Amosta was stunned by the mansion that sat on the ridge of a mountain range parallel to the one below them in the direction of the rising moon.
"Little Hangleton?"
Amosta squinted his eyes and looked at the old house in the distance, with a trace of surprise in his tone.
"Yes, that house belongs to old Tom Riddle. Have you ever been here, Amosta?"
Dumbledore was also looking at the house. He pressed the silver beard that covered his sight and asked in a low voice, but he didn't look very surprised -
"Before last year's World Cup--"
Amosta said,
"I was tracking down Cliona's whereabouts in the Albanian forest, following some clues, and came all the way here -"
Amosta looked away and looked at Dumbledore,
"I've been in that house."
"Yeah, I don't think Tom is willing to let his precious Horcrux sleep in a Muggle house, especially if that house belongs to his father who he is shameless to mention -"
Dumbledore smiled and said that he understood Amosta's hint,
"But I'm not going to visit Tom's biological father's house tonight."
Amosta blinked, and then he seemed more interested as he understood.
"It's certainly worth checking out, Headmaster Dumbledore."
The two people headed towards their destination.
Along the country road with tall hedgerows and tangled branches on both sides, the two people walked quickly because they didn't want to be blown by the cold wind on the top of the mountain.
After passing an old wooden board pointing the way out of the thorns, Dumbledore and Amostar began to go downhill along an inconspicuous path.
At this early night, it was far from time to rest.
The lights on every house in Little Hangleton Village below the mountain were like a dense spider web, and voices could be faintly heard in the air.
"I even invited several villagers to drink at the only bar in the village -"
Amosta said enthusiastically,
"They still remember the murder that happened at Riddle House half a century ago."
Dumbledore's laughter sounded a bit vicissitudes of life,
"For the residents of a remote village, there are not many things worth remembering. Well, I think we should go this way-"
Dumbledore led Amosta to an inconspicuous mountain road on the way down the mountain.
Compared with the repaired road down the mountain, this bumpy and winding mountain road is more difficult to walk, and the hedgerows on both sides of the road have become taller and denser.
In addition to the coldness, the air was a bit eerie. Amosta looked up and saw that the moon hanging in the sky was gone, and only a few orange streaks could be seen in the gaps between the dense branches.
The two men's steps became more cautious, and Amosta had to take out his wand and clean up the branches that grew wildly in their path.
"It seems like no one has been here in years."
Amosta said and Dumbledore nodded,
"This is good news for us."
After passing a '\u003c' shaped bend, the path down the mountain suddenly became steeper. Under the influence of gravity, Dumbledore and Amosta both started jogging. Fortunately, the sharp bushes on both sides of the road disappeared.
"I think we're almost there-"
Dumbledore took a breath and looked at the bushes bordering the dirt road at his feet.
"Hopefully our luck is better than Mr. Weasley. Poor Mr. Weasley, he wants to borrow the bottle of good-luck elixir from Miss Granger to help him pass Gryffindor." Multiple Quidditch team quizzes—"
Amosta glanced sideways at Dumbledore and shook his head slightly.
"Felixir won't help us, Headmaster Dumbledore."
Entering the dark and eerie woods, and walking for a few minutes amidst the faint roar of beasts, the old house of the Gunter family appeared in front of them.
The moss-covered walls still remain, tenaciously supporting the main body of the old house, which is covered with plants. The tiles on the roof are almost gone, and here and there the inner rafters are exposed.
The house was surrounded by thick, messy nettles that reached all the way to the entrance. The windows were very small and covered with thick layers of old dirt.
Some rustling sounds came from the dark windows. Obviously, there was more than one kind of creature inhabiting this house that was about to be completely destroyed.
"Ho--"
Amosta stood in front of the nettle patch and looked at the house, his breath leaving white traces in the air.
"In a sense, it is a perfect place to hide things. Even the urchins at the bottom of the mountain will not try to break into this house that is on the verge of collapse."
Staring at the dilapidated old house in the darkness, the purple vortex in Amosta's eyes slowly rotated, bathing his whole body in a formidable and mysterious aura.
The penetrating gaze penetrated the old house that was already riddled with holes. Amosta's gaze was fixed in one direction, the tight lip line loosened a little, and there was a slight smile on the corner of his mouth.
"It seems that we have better luck than Mr. Weasley. Principal Dumbledore, Mr. Riddle, used some magic. To be honest, it was a bit clumsy-"
"yes."
Dumbledore said.
Amosta waited for a few seconds, but did not hear Dumbledore express a more constructive point of view. He looked at Dumbledore beside him with a slightly strange look, his eyes slightly condensed.
Dumbledore also stared in the direction he had just stared at, and apparently discovered the abnormal flow of magic there.
However, there was no joy or relief that Amosta thought would appear on that old face.
Indeed, one can see hope in Dumbledore's dark eyes, but at the same time, other emotions are also lingering in Dumbledore's blue pupils. It seems to be fear.
"What's the matter, Headmaster Dumbledore?"
Amosta's eyelids moved slightly, feeling wary.
"Oh, it's nothing, I'm just looking back on the past, Amosta——"
Dumbledore woke up from his dazed state. He straightened his expression and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Bad magic, yes, you're right, but it's not surprising.
I think this is because when Tom was hiding things in this old house, his attainments in black magic were not as good as his later masters." (End of Chapter)
