Hogwarts: I am Voldemort
Chapter 196 Tom Riddle: Soul-eating Immortality
There are no wizards who don't want immortality, they just fail on the way to it.
[Soul and Magic] These words in the last chapter seemed to have opened the door to Riddle's heart.
For a moment, he thought of the first wizard card he got:
Nico Flamel Wizard Card.
During the closing ceremony of fourth grade, all he could think about was how to live forever.
And this summer, he spent all his time looking for Nico Flamel, and for this purpose he mobilized all his resources.
"Nico Flamel?" Abraxas Malfoy looked at him in surprise, "No one knows where he is, Tom. He protects himself very well."
"Protect?" Riddle asked doubtfully.
"Yes." Abu said with a bitter smile, "If he dares to announce his location, I can guarantee that in addition to being a thief, he will also be killed."
Riddle suddenly realized that he was so focused on studying magic that he had forgotten about human nature.
"Albus knows, your Transfiguration professor."
Abu's father, Old Malfoy, came out and said, "He is also a great master of alchemy. I heard that Mr. Flamel once invited him to study alchemy together."
The answer was unexpected, but it did allow Riddle to find a possibility of immortality.
He couldn't wait to write to ask his professor, but the reply only contained a polite rejection.
The professor didn't want him to meet Nico Flamel, and he didn't even mean to introduce him. He refused in a tactful and straightforward manner.
Riddle was a little angry, but he could accept the result.
No one will help you for no reason, not even your relatives. He has experienced all this long ago.
"Perhaps, we need to use that method."
Nico Flamel is nowhere to be found, but magic never has only one path to the end.
In fact, the book [Soul and Magic] records a method of immortality called Horcrux making:
The ancient Greek Parseltongue wizard Herbo was one of the best dark wizards who combined soul magic with alchemy. The method he invented for making [Horcruxes] was undoubtedly successful.
But judging from the fact that it has disappeared from the long history, this is not a method of immortality, but it can obviously extend lifespan and give us more time to explore the wizard's path to immortality.
The last chapter of [Soul and Magic] is about the production of Horcruxes, but Riddle did not want to choose this method before.
Just like what is said in the book, Haierbo himself disappeared in the long river of history, which has proved that his method can only extend life, but not immortality.
Nico Flamel's hundreds of years of life also verified the efficacy of the Magic Stone.
The first choice is definitely the magic stone.
But Dumbledore didn't give him a chance. If so, choose longevity first and then pursue immortality.
With this in mind, Riddle began to start the plan to make a Horcrux.
As for the first step in launching this plan, he needed to find an entity that carried the Horcrux.
It didn't take him long to think before he set his sights on his diary.
It was the only first-hand item besides the wand that he bought when he was eleven years old.
He has been using it for the past four years.
To this end, Riddle used a lot of magic on it so that it could be used forever.
"This will be my first Horcrux. In addition to storing my soul, it will also store my wisdom."
After selecting the entity to be carried, the next step is to learn the magic of making Horcruxes:
[Soul-Eating Eternal Life]
By devouring other people's souls, he can split his own soul into two and achieve eternal life.
Riddle had memorized this spell a long time ago, but he never practiced it.
He spent the rest of the summer practicing this magic.
This is an ancient magic, so it requires the mobilization of magic power to complete. It is not just a matter of reciting a spell and waving a wand.
For this reason, he spent the rest of his summer vacation on it, but this did not allow him to finish learning this magic before school started.
As a last resort, he could only go to Hogwarts to continue studying.
After returning to Hogwarts, Dumbledore met with him specially to discuss the topic of immortality.
Riddle, who had already made up his mind, didn't say much to him.
"It was just a child's fantasy, Professor, and I've forgotten about it."
He answered Dumbledore like this, and then deliberately avoided him.
In addition to learning magic, he also reread the production content of [Horcrux] several times.
There is part of the conjecture here that Riddle finds very interesting, and that is how to make the soul complete.
Halper's discussion did not give a result, but Slytherin, the author of [Soul and Magic], speculated that sincere repentance might restore the soul to integrity.
But he also wrote below:
Not to mention how the murderer with malicious intentions repented of the innocent life, nor the kind of spiritual pain the penitent had to endure during this period.
Let’s just talk about how two souls who have been separated for many years face each other. This is a question worth pondering.
Perhaps, destroying and devouring the opponent is the best result.
As for repentance, leave it to the hypocrites.
Riddle thought this section was interesting because Slytherin vaguely pointed out that the split soul and its main body are already two people with separate personalities.
After finding it fun, Riddle also began to think about setting some shackles for the separated soul.
"It's better to create another one of myself. Then should he be considered my brother, son, or enemy?"
He was joking to himself like this, and then devoted himself wholeheartedly to the study of magic.
Easter, Christmas Eve, Christmas...the days passed quickly, and Riddle began to plan for the Horcrux.
He needs a soul, which is not difficult. There are hundreds of wizards in Hogwarts, which are enough for him.
But if a murder occurs here, how can you eliminate yourself from suspicion?
Riddle, who had become a prefect, set his sights on a big man - when he entered school this year, he discovered that this big man had brought several small pets with him.
If you like to keep pets, are there any dangers in doing so?
After paying a little attention, Riddle discovered the secret of this big man. He kept a spider that was almost as tall as a man.
There is a scapegoat, magic has been learned, and the means of killing... Riddle doesn't want to do it himself.
As a result, the basilisk in the secret room was awakened.
On June 13, 1943, Riddle officially launched the operation.
He and the basilisk hid behind a bathroom separated by a wall and attacked a visitor in the bathroom.
Elizabeth Warren, a Ravenclaw student like the one he consulted.
While the basilisk attacked her, Riddle still had time to think. This person seemed not to be very popular in Ravenclaw.
He couldn't remember the exact reason, but it didn't matter.
"Soul-Eating Eternal Life."
Instead of using a wand, he cast spells without a wand.
The magic rushed out, trapped Elizabeth Warren's soul, and pulled the soul towards Riddle's head.
"boom."
Feeling like he had been hit by a sap, Riddle fell into a deep sleep as soon as his eyes darkened.
