Hogwarts: I, Tom, am really not Voldemort!
#11 - Chapter 11: Branches (Part 1)
Clatter!
Just as everyone was chatting happily, the carriage door was pulled open, and the salesperson smilingly recommended snacks to them.
Thanks to Lucius's sponsorship, Tom bought some to try.
He also took the birdcage and fed his snowy owl: "Come on, Voldemort, have something to eat."
The moment Tom called out this name, the carriage suddenly fell silent. The three little ones looked at him in horror.
"You... how dare you? Do you know...." Cassandra exclaimed in shock.
"Relax, it's just Voldemort, what's the big deal? If his name has magic and can sense the person calling him, then I'd love for him to come find me."
"You…"
Before Cassandra could say anything else, Neville suddenly cried out.
"Trevor, my Trevor is gone!"
"Don't worry, what is Trevor?" Hermione asked, trying to calm Neville down.
"Tre... Trevor, is... is my pet."
"Can you describe what Trevor looks like? Maybe I can help you find him." Tom drew his wand and joined the search.
"A... a gray toad with... with warts on its body."
Imagining what Trevor looked like, Tom called out, "Trevor, come here!"
After a while, a gray toad flew over and landed in Tom's palm.
"Is this it?"
"Yes, it's Trevor, thank you, thank you." Neville hurriedly thanked him, taking Trevor from Tom's hand.
"Wow, what kind of spell is this? Why haven't I seen it in the first-year textbooks?" Hermione's eyes lit up with excitement.
"The Summoning Charm, it's fourth-year material, you won't find it in the first-year textbooks," Cassandra rarely explained, her beautiful eyes fixed on Tom with inquiry.
"Try more, practice more, and you'll learn it soon enough." Tom laughed, he couldn't possibly say that he relied on the Voldemort brand experience pack.
Hermione couldn't help but feel a little discouraged, clenching her fist and cheering herself on, striving to memorize all the books in the library.
Luckily, Tom didn't know that internal competition was thus created, otherwise he would definitely curse himself for being nosy.
And so, in the hustle and bustle, the long journey quietly passed.
As the sun set and night fell, the train slowly pulled into the platform, indicating that this journey of several hours had finally come to an end.
Tom and his three friends, having changed their clothes, had just gotten off the train when they heard Hagrid's huge figure shouting with a lantern.
"First-year students, first-year students, come over here."
The crowd followed Hagrid, stumbling down a narrow, steep path.
"Lumos!"
A strong light shone from the tip of Tom's wand, illuminating the surrounding road and making it much easier to walk.
"Beautiful Lumos Charm," Cassandra exclaimed, also taking out her wand and using the Lumos Charm to light the way ahead.
Seeing the two of them using the Lumos Charm, Hermione followed suit, and for a time their small group became the focus of the crowd.
After turning a corner, the towering castle of Hogwarts appeared in everyone's field of vision for the first time, and the next journey required taking a boat, retracing the path taken by the founders of Hogwarts.
"No more than four people per boat," Hagrid's loud voice reminded everyone.
Tom's group of four happened to be in one boat, and after they all boarded, the boat automatically sailed towards the castle.
After knocking on the door three times, Professor McGonagall, with a serious expression, was already waiting there as the door slowly opened.
"Welcome to Hogwarts."
After saying the welcome speech, she led the young wizards to a small room next to the dining hall.
"Next, the Sorting Ceremony will be held. Hogwarts is divided into Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. You will be assigned to a suitable house to spend the next seven years, and I hope you will treat it with caution."
"Now, wait quietly here until the ceremony is ready."
After another long speech, Professor McGonagall asked the young wizards to wait in place for the start of the Sorting Ceremony.
During the waiting time, Tom saw some 'acquaintances' in the crowd.
A nervous Ron was pulling on Harry, rambling about the scene of fighting with a dragon during the sorting, obviously deceived by George and Fred.
Draco was preparing to take Goyle and Crabbe to provoke Ron and Harry when he received Tom's gaze, paused, and then remembered his father's instructions, revealing a flattering smile.
At this time, a group of ghosts appeared in front of them, and the Fat Friar, who led the group, greeted the young wizards friendly: "Welcome to Hogwarts, I hope you join..." Before he finished speaking, he saw Tom in the crowd, some dusty memories quietly resurfaced, and he screamed in horror and ran away through the wall.
"......"
Tom was immediately showered with the gazes of the young wizards in the crowd.
To this, Tom could only maintain a speechless smile.
Time passed quietly, and when Professor McGonagall appeared again and led them into the hall, accompanied by the Sorting Hat's song without any artistic beauty, Tom knew that the sorting session he was most looking forward to was about to begin.
"Hannah Abbott!"
The little girl with two golden braids walked out of the line, stumbling, and put on the Sorting Hat.
"Hufflepuff!" the Sorting Hat shouted loudly.
Immediately, warm applause rang out from the Hufflepuff table.
"Susan Bones!"
"Hufflepuff!"
The sorting was proceeding in an orderly manner, and soon it was Tom's friend's turn.
"Hermione Granger!" Professor McGonagall read from the parchment.
Hermione rushed out of the line, impatiently putting the Sorting Hat on her head.
After waiting for a minute or two, the Sorting Hat shouted loudly:
"Ravenclaw!"
'The butterfly wings have fanned away the plot, what will those two useless men in Gryffindor do without Hermione!'
Tom looked at Hermione walking towards the Ravenclaw table and suddenly felt a strange sensation.
The sorting continued.
A moment later.
"Neville Longbottom!"
It took a full four minutes for the Sorting Hat to finally make a decision:
"Hufflepuff!"
'Gryffindor still lost their Sword Saint. But thinking about it, it's normal, Hufflepuff is indeed suitable for Neville.'
In the following sorting, Draco, unsurprisingly, went to Slytherin.
Finally, it was the turn of—
"Harry Potter!"
After Professor McGonagall read out this name, the entire hall suddenly fell silent, followed by various discussions.
Harry, bearing everyone's gaze, put on the hat.
After a long wait, finally—
"Gryffindor!"
The entire hall seemed to have pressed the pause button, and then burst into huge cheers. The Gryffindor table even shouted: "We have Potter, we have Potter…"
'Sure enough, Harry still went to Gryffindor. But with Dumbledore's methods, it is impossible for Harry to go to another house.'
Tom silently felt a deep regret for the Daily Prophet losing tomorrow's headline—"Savior Appears in Slytherin, Is It a Decline of Morality? Or a Distortion of Human Nature?"
