Hogwarts: I, Tom, am really not Voldemort!

#13 - Chapter 13 Back to School

The next day, early in the morning, Tom was woken up groggily by Draco.

"Why are you up so early?"

"I was too excited to sleep. Let's go, I'll take you to explore the castle."

The second day of classes for Slytherin first years only had History of Magic in the afternoon, a joint class with Ravenclaw.

It should have been a relaxing and pleasant day, but now Tom deeply regretted agreeing to explore the castle with Draco.

From the morning, Goyle and Crabbe acted as two great protectors, clearing the way left and right. Draco, like a peacock in full display, dragged Tom behind him, looking every bit like a mafia boss.

What's more, he showed Tom off to everyone he met, making Tom feel like a monkey touring in a zoo. His little toes were about to dig out a three-bedroom apartment.

Not only did Tom feel embarrassed, but even Cassandra, Pansy, Zabini, and others from the same house kept their distance, finding it too humiliating.

After finally enduring until History of Magic class, Tom ran straight to the Ravenclaw side and sat next to Hermione.

"What's wrong with Tom? Why did he run over to the Ravenclaw side?" Draco was very puzzled by his actions.

Hearing Draco say this, everyone rolled their eyes in unison. Didn't he have any self-awareness?

In the end, Cassandra, who had a good relationship with Tom, spoke up: "Draco, use your brain and think carefully about what you've done today. Even we, who are just watching, can't stand it, let alone Tom."

Draco carefully recalled his actions, but the young master felt that he had done nothing wrong.

History of Magic should have been an extremely interesting course, but Professor Binns invariably used a hypnotic tone to recite from the textbook. Only five minutes after the class started, half of the students in the classroom had already fallen into a slumber. The other half emptied their minds, spacing out and daydreaming.

Tom, determined to be a good student who listened attentively,勉强坚持了十分钟,不得不宣布放弃. After giving himself earplugs, he chose to read and organize the historical timeline himself, at least not wasting precious time.

After finally enduring until the end of class, the students, knowing that Professor Binns never ran over time, left the classroom as soon as possible.

Tom approached Hermione at this time and said embarrassedly: "Um, Hermione, would you like to go to the library together to do homework?"

The core idea was to avoid Draco!

Unfortunately, in the end, he still couldn't escape Draco's clutches. When Tom went to the library, Draco quickly joined in, and even dragged Cassandra along.

Thus, a strange scene unfolded in the library: three Slytherins surrounding a Ravenclaw Muggle-born witch.

Madam Pince, the librarian, warned them as soon as they entered the library not to damage the books or make loud noises, and kept a close eye on their strange little group. Fortunately, Tom mediated, allowing Draco to sit with Hermione under the dual pressure, and the two got along relatively well.

None of the four were slackers, so the History of Magic homework was quickly completed.

But when Draco saw the thick stack of books that Hermione borrowed after finishing her homework, he couldn't help but gape. Even if she was a Ravenclaw, this was only the first official day of class.

And Tom's voice just happened to come at this time: "Draco, isn't she amazing? As the young master of the Malfoy family, if you lose to a Muggle-born witch at the end of the term, guess what Lucius will say."

These slightly mocking words hit Draco's weak spot. The young master exploded at once: "How is that possible? You actually doubt that I will lose to this bushy-haired rabbit? Just you wait and see."

He got up, borrowed books, and did it all in one go. However many books Hermione read, the young master Malfoy would read just as many. The main thing was not to admit defeat.

Cassandra watched this scene silently, then secretly borrowed two more books. The noble and proud her would never allow herself to lose to others.

Tom couldn't help but give himself a thumbs up in secret. When it came to stirring up internal competition at Hogwarts, Tom said that no one understood it better than him.

But if Tom was also asked to join the internal competition, he would politely decline. So, after borrowing two books on the Patronus Charm, he called Draco and Cassandra to get up and bid farewell to Hermione.

He thought that this day would end peacefully and happily, but just as Tom and his two friends separated from Hermione and returned to the Slytherin common room, trouble found Tom.

Originally, Tom was still very regretful that there was no face-slapping scene, but unexpectedly, it arrived as scheduled on the second day of school.

"Our young master of the Malfoy family is actually mixing with Mudbloods. It really sullies the Malfoy name. Oh, isn't that the dirty little rat? Mudbloods are Mudbloods, always hiding behind others."

Alexander Avery, a sixth-year Slytherin student, blocked the path of Tom and his two friends who had just returned to the common room, and began to mock them as soon as he opened his mouth.

"Get out of the way, Avery. Who I want to be friends with is none of your business. My father is on the Board of Governors, so be careful," Draco said as arrogantly as ever, standing up for Tom.

"It's not like only your father is on the Board of Governors. Get out of the way, Malfoy, I'm not here to cause you trouble today."

"Looks like you're here to find me?" Tom patted Draco on the shoulder, signaling him to step aside.

"That's right. I don't know what the Sorting Hat was thinking, actually letting a Mudblood like you into noble Slytherin. Be sensible and keep your tail between your legs in the school from now on. Don't think that you'll be fine just because you have Malfoy and Volrey protecting you. I have 100 ways to make it impossible for you to stay here. Slytherin doesn't welcome people like you," Avery threatened loudly after finding out about Tom's background.

Tom narrowed his eyes: "Senior Avery, I heard that Slytherin respects strength above all else. And all conflicts are limited to within the school, is that true?"

"That's right," Avery didn't know what Tom wanted to express.

"Then, let's have a wizard's duel. Avery, one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight families, isn't afraid of a little first-year wizard like me, is he? You don't want to tarnish the Avery name, do you?"

Hearing Tom's words, Avery couldn't help but laugh: "Pfft... Since you want to die, don't blame others. I'll grant your wish."

Draco wanted to dissuade him, but Tom stopped him. Seeing that he was determined, he didn't try to persuade him any further.

At this time, Gemma Farley, the female prefect who had been watching the show from the side, spoke up.

"I'll be the adjudicator."

Seeing that Tom and Avery had no objections, Farley announced loudly:

"Then the duel is established, the combatants are Alexander Avery and Tom Riddle!"
