Hogwarts: I, Tom, am really not Voldemort!
#45 - Chapter 45: Ministry of Magic
Three days passed in the blink of an eye.
When Tom received the message and hurried to the headmaster's office, Harry was already sitting in a chair talking to Dumbledore, having clearly arrived some time ago.
"Tom, you're here. Sit down, I have something to tell you both."
Dumbledore beckoned Tom over, inviting him to sit next to Harry.
Once Tom was seated, Dumbledore got straight to the point: "Today's trial, Tom and Harry, you will be attending as observers, though you may be required to testify if necessary."
"I must remind you, especially you, Harry, that during the court proceedings, there may be some words that make you uncomfortable. I hope you can remain calm."
Seeing Harry tense up at his serious words, Dumbledore softened his tone, reassuring him.
"Relax, Harry, don't be too nervous. There is plenty of evidence. Don't worry, child, I assure you, today's trial will be fair and just, and they will get what they deserve."
Harry was influenced by Dumbledore's words, and his original nervousness gradually subsided.
As for Tom, please, he only listened to the first sentence, and basically ignored the rest.
After explaining what needed to be explained, Dumbledore glanced at the time.
"Peter and Sirius's trial starts at 11 o'clock. There's still some time before it starts, you don't mind going early, do you?"
Seeing that the two had no objections, Dumbledore took out a bag of Floo Powder: "The Headmaster's office has temporarily applied for a Floo Network... Harry, you go first, remember to clearly shout Ministry of Magic Atrium."
Harry stepped forward, grabbed a handful of Floo Powder from the bag, threw it into the fire, stepped in, and shouted clearly: "Ministry of Magic Atrium."
The flames flared up, and Harry disappeared instantly.
"Tom, your turn."
Tom threw the Floo Powder Dumbledore handed him into the fire, letting the green flames engulf his body.
Stepping out of the fireplace again, Tom was presented with a solemn and magnificent hall. The dark green walls were decorated with exquisite magical runes and ancient murals. Rows of fireplaces were embedded in the surrounding wooden panels, with wizards constantly emerging from them.
The fireplace Tom used was individually isolated, with a [Visitor] sign hanging on the side.
When Dumbledore came out of the fireplace, he took Tom and Harry to the registration desk.
A short, fat middle-aged witch was lazily趴 (pa, lying prone) on the desk, dozing off, muttering: "Please come here to register... Please come here to register..."
Dumbledore stepped forward and gently knocked on the table and said, "Hello, Albus Dumbledore, bringing Harry Potter and Tom Riddle to attend the trial of Peter and Sirius."
Dumbledore spoke very softly, but as soon as he spoke, the voice was so loud that he was startled himself, and he turned to look at Tom.
Tom gave him a shy smile and mouthed: "Sonorus, you're welcome!"
"Dumbledore, and Harry Potter, where... where?"
The witch who was originally dozing off jumped up, and the people who were busy with their own affairs in the hall gathered here, wanting to see the demeanor of Dumbledore and the legendary Harry Potter.
The witch in charge of registration was about to go up to exchange greetings, but found that her clothes were being held tightly by a little wizard.
"Madam, please help me register first."
The witch wanted to say wait a moment, but found that the force pulling her clothes was getting stronger.
"Madam, please help me register first," Tom repeated, emphasizing his tone.
Seeing that Dumbledore and Harry were already surrounded by layers of people, and Tom had an attitude that he wouldn't let her go until she finished, the witch had no choice but to do the formalities for him first.
"Yew, phoenix feather, 13.5 inches."
The witch quickly put Tom's wand on a balance-like brass machine, passed it through, and pinned the paper spit out by the machine on a brass nail, and hurriedly squeezed into the crowd. Even Tom's wand was still lying on the machine, forgetting to return it to him.
Tom silently took back his wand, and couldn't help but mutter in a low voice: "This is really... I guess she has never been so efficient in her life, Fudge has to pay me a salary."
When the elevator door opened again, what came into view was a simple corridor with a dark door.
Seeing that there was no one at the moment, Tom quickly passed through the corridor and pushed open the dark door.
At the entrance, what came into view was a huge pure black circular room. Under the faint blue flame of the candle on the wall, twelve unmarked, handleless, identical black doors were embedded in the black wall at the same distance.
"Department of Mysteries!"
Tom muttered the name in his heart.
Just then, Tom heard what seemed to be a faint sound of footsteps, and without hesitation, he put an invisibility charm on himself, and regardless of the open dark door, he quickly returned along the corridor.
When the elevator door closed and began to slowly descend, Tom breathed a sigh of relief.
'Today is not a good time, but I will visit the Department of Mysteries again.'
In Tom's calculations, the elevator quickly reached the main hall on the eighth floor.
Walking out of the elevator, Tom found that the crowd watching Dumbledore and Harry had dispersed. Silently walking to a corner, Tom removed the invisibility charm on his body, and came to the elevator hall again, pretending to be at a loss while waiting for the elevator.
"You... are you Tom Riddle?"
The shout came from behind, Tom turned around, and found Arthur Weasley looking at him in surprise, and then saluted him and greeted him.
"Hello, Mr. Weasley, long time no see."
Mr. Weasley looked around Tom, and asked strangely: "Hello, Tom, I thought I was seeing things. Shouldn't you be with Dumbledore and Harry, where are they?"
"We got separated, sir. Just now, the people in the entire Ministry of Magic Atrium gathered to watch Professor Dumbledore and Harry, and the crowded crowd separated me from them. The trial of Peter Pettigrew and Sirius Black is about to begin, I don't know where the courtroom is, I was about to ask someone, and I met Mr. Weasley. Can you trouble you to take me there?"
Tom objectively and factually described everything that had just happened, his tone was polite and courteous, but only he knew how much moisture was in it.
Mr. Weasley did not doubt him, and said to Tom with a bit of sympathy: "You must have been very scared to be lost alone just now. It's okay, I happen to be going to the Seventh Courtroom."
"Let's go together, Tom."
