Hogwarts: I, Tom, am really not Voldemort!

#53 - Chapter 53: Terror in the Forbidden Forest

"Forbidden Forest?"

Under the hazy moonlight, Cassandra and Draco stared blankly at the unexpectedly strange scenery before them.

Seeing their reaction, Tom kindly reminded them, "Maybe that road was originally the way in, but now is not the time to dwell on that. Curfew is almost here, and we need to hurry back to the castle."

Then he complained a bit, "I didn't expect that leaving during the day would mean it's already night, and it seems I've skipped Snape's detention today too."

Cassandra thought about their Head of House's angry appearance and shuddered: "Skipping the Head's detention, what are you going to do about that?"

Tom, however, looked calm: "It's okay, at worst I'll send him some 'Harley' pinups."

Seeing that the two were still joking around, Draco couldn't help but speak up: "Do you guys know the way back to the castle? It'll be too late if we don't leave soon."

"Follow me."

A blue ribbon of smoke floated from Tom's wand, extending into the distance.

"What's this?" Draco asked curiously, looking at the blue smoke.

"A little tracking spell to prevent getting lost in the Forbidden Forest. The smoke will lead us back to the castle, let's go."

Tom was about to lead them away when he suddenly stopped: "Sorry, can't walk in the dark."

Cassandra and Draco blushed at once.

"Lumos!"

"Lumos!"

The light from their wands dispelled the darkness, and the three set off again.

However, before they had gone very far, Tom stopped again.

"Tom, what is it this time?" Draco asked, muffled, nearly bumping into Tom's back.

"Shhh!"

"Careful, there's something ahead, extinguish the lights!"

Cassandra and Draco obediently extinguished the light at the tips of their wands, and, following Tom's example, hunched over and crept forward cautiously.

Under the moonlight, a figure in a black hooded robe was sucking the life out of an animal carcass.

"That's... a unicorn? Someone's drinking unicorn blood!!!"

Draco couldn't help but cry out when he got close enough to see the scene clearly.

Draco's voice startled the figure, who raised his head and slowly turned towards Tom's location.

"Sigh~"

"You two hide here, don't come out no matter what."

Tom sighed, quietly instructed the two of them, then straightened up and walked out alone.

"It's you!"

"Yes, long time no see. I've always wanted to have a good talk with you, Tom Riddle, or rather, another me."

Voldemort probed Tom with a hoarse and deep voice.

Tom raised an eyebrow at these words: "I don't think there's anything to talk about."

"Unless you want to complain to me about your miserable existence as a parasite on vermin in the forests of Albania."

"Or lament about how you can only eke out an existence by drinking unicorn blood."

"Or discuss the nemesis who defeated you."

"Hmm... a baby."

Hearing Tom's words, Voldemort suppressed his anger, maintaining a semblance of reason only because he was facing Tom: "Nonsense, my downfall has nothing to do with Harry Potter, it's all because of Lily Potter, her ancient magic caused this."

Tom couldn't help but sneer: "But the fact is, you failed, didn't you."

Voldemort's anger grew stronger, but he maintained some semblance of composure only because he was facing Tom: "Yes, you're right. Although I failed 11 years ago, I now have a chance to make a comeback. The Philosopher's Stone, as long as I get the Philosopher's Stone, I will be resurrected."

"Come and help me, Tom. We are the same person. As long as I am resurrected, then we can get rid of Dumbledore and once again reign supreme over the world."

Faced with the pie in the sky that Voldemort was painting, Tom decisively interrupted his fantasy.

"Sorry, I think you've got one thing wrong. There is no 'we,' there is only 'I'!"

"You want to replace me?" Voldemort stopped pretending, "Who exactly are you? My Horcruxes don't have someone like you."

Voldemort's words made Tom laugh again: "Replace? No, no, no. Only the victor is Voldemort, and you are just a pathetic loser, Tom."

"As for who I am, as someone who has walked further than anyone else on the path to immortality, why don't you use your withered little brain to guess, how about that?"

"You deserve to die!" Voldemort snapped, "Avada Kedavra!"

"Avada Kedavra!"

Tom, having anticipated Voldemort's actions, cast the Killing Curse at the same time.

The green light collided in the air and disappeared.

"Weak, too weak. You don't even deserve to be called Voldemort in this state," Tom continued to mock.

Voldemort felt the humiliation in his heart being torn open by Tom, and with a wave of his wand, a blaze of orange-red Fiendfyre rushed towards Tom, with a streak of green light mixed in.

"Always using these two moves, don't you have anything new?"

Tom erected a wall of earth in front of himself the moment the Fiendfyre ignited, blocking the sneak attack of the Killing Curse.

Then...

"Finite Incantatem!"

The Fiendfyre vanished with Tom's spell.

Just as Tom was preparing to continue, he discovered that Voldemort had disappeared, using the Fiendfyre as cover.

Tom cautiously searched again, but still couldn't find him. He chuckled: "Heh, he's got some brains, he can run fast!"

Then he called out to Cassandra and Draco, who were still hiding: "Come out, it's okay now."

The two, who had witnessed everything, came out tremblingly, their legs shaking uncontrollably.

Cassandra hesitated for a moment, but couldn't help but confirm with Tom: "Was that the Dark Lord just now?"

"The real deal, a living Voldemort," Tom confirmed.

"But aren't you also a Dark Lord? Right, he said you were the same person, could there be two Dark Lords? But..."

Cassandra's mind was still buzzing with the information she had just received, there were too many questions she wanted to ask, but she didn't know where to start, and her words became somewhat incoherent.

Tom, however, intended to play the riddle game to the end, responding to Cassandra with those two words: "Guess!"

Draco, on the other hand, had decided to write a letter to his father when he got back, but Tom seemed to see through his thoughts and warned him in advance: "You should know what can and cannot be said tonight, Draco. You must understand, Lucius knows more than you think."

Just as the two were still immersed in the excitement of the night, a sound of hooves suddenly came from the depths of the Forbidden Forest.

Tom couldn't help but frown: "Did I forget to check the calendar before leaving today? Why are there more uninvited guests arriving."

A male centaur with a silver body and white-gold hair rushed over first.

When he saw the horribly dead unicorn and the three people standing beside it, his first words were: "Did you do this?"
