Hollywood Director 1992

#183 - Film shooting

When Guessing Game Films was casting for "Seven", Brad Pitt's agent used New Line Cinema's channels to get him the script and an audition opportunity.

After reading the script, he felt it was fantastic and that he was very suitable for the role of Detective Mills.

Unfortunately, he didn't even pass the first round of auditions.

This was because he was an actor under CAA and was close to Richard Gere, Robert Downey Jr., and others, while everyone in Hollywood knew that Link was at odds with Richard Gere and his circle.

Also, he had abandoned the role before the third round of auditions for "Final Destination", which probably annoyed Link.

Looking back, Brad Pitt deeply regretted it, not only missing out on the role of Detective Mills in "Seven", but also getting too close to Richard Gere and others.

Judging from the current gambling situation, although CAA had a large and powerful team, Michael Ovitz was influential, and Richard Gere and others were famous, they seemed weak compared to Link.

To win the bet, they kept inflating the box office of "The Firm", tried to undermine Link's films, and even wanted to prevent Link's films from being released.

This also showed that Link was strong, his films were strong, and Richard Gere and others were weak, needing to go all out to have a chance of winning.

Furthermore, before the release of "Final Destination", Richard Gere, Robert Downey Jr., and others were afraid of losing the bet, becoming very nervous and anxious, with little focus on work, only thinking about how to win the bet, appearing very unprofessional.

Link, on the other hand, continued to work, busy preparing for his new film, not putting too much energy into "Final Destination", nor paying too much attention to the outcome of the bet.

He didn't seem to take the bet to heart.

The difference in mentality between the two sides was obvious.

Even if Link lost this bet, he felt that Link was much stronger than this group of people.

This also made him regret giving up the "Final Destination" audition, thereby missing the opportunity to befriend Link.

"Seven? Sounds familiar."

"Oh, right, is that Link's movie?"

"Heard he's preparing a new movie and has already started casting?"

Robert Downey Jr. and the others asked.

Brad Pitt took a sip of wine, "The movie has already started filming. The *Los Angeles Times* reported that the set is in New York."

"What? Started filming? At this time?"

Robert Downey Jr. was surprised, "Are you sure? "Final Destination" is about to be released. He's not promoting it, but instead, he's gone to New York to film a movie?"

David Duchovny frowned and said, "Pre-release promotion is very important. At this time, he's not trying to promote the movie and get more box office, but doing something else. Why? Doesn't he care about the box office of "Final Destination"?"

"It's impossible not to care. The bet is as high as $72 million. Even if he's worth four or five hundred million dollars, it's still a large sum for him. How could he not care?" Robert Downey Jr. said angrily.

He had bet several million dollars in the gamble and was also very nervous and anxious at this time. Link bet over seventy million but wasn't nervous and even had the mind to film a new movie.

This made him extremely unhappy.

Kiefer Sutherland frowned and said, "Maybe he knows he's bound to lose the bet, so he's given up struggling, resigned himself to fate, and no longer pays attention to the box office situation, to avoid adding to his troubles if the box office is bad."

"That makes sense!"

Robert Downey Jr. and Duchovny nodded repeatedly.

Hearing their words, Brad Pitt felt more and more that getting too close to them was a mistake. He put down his glass and excused himself to leave.

"Cut!"

"Ben! You're only 23 years old, not 83. Give me some youthful passion and energy. Don't always have such a deadpan face when acting. If you have 'zombie syndrome,' then please forgive my words, but if you don't, you better not hang your face. I need you to be more active and more irritable here."

On the set of "Seven", Link shouted, slamming the table.

Ben Affleck scratched his head, "Director Link, I understand. I didn't notice just now and didn't perform well. I'll definitely pay attention next time."

"Get ready quickly!"

Link waved his hand and continued filming other shots.

When filming this movie, he didn't require Ben Affleck to act exactly like Brad Pitt. The two were different types of actors with different acting styles. Forcing Ben Affleck to play a masculine tough guy would be awkward and easily ruin the role.

Therefore, before filming, he redesigned the acting style for Ben Affleck, making the role more suitable for him and making it easier for him to integrate into the role.

However, Ben Affleck was prone to dropping the ball when filming, inadvertently dropping his face and becoming expressionless.

So after filming started, Link needed to constantly remind Ben Affleck. Once or twice was okay, but after too many times, he became impatient, and his tone became impolite.

Ben Affleck also seemed to be someone who needed to be taught a lesson.

He wouldn't act unless he was scolded.

Scolding him a few times could sometimes work for several days.

The harsher the scolding, the better the effect.

This made Link very helpless. He was gentle and rarely scolded people, but the current situation forced him to be stricter.

"Scene 12, Take 3, Second time, Action!"

The crew continued filming.

New Detective Mills had just joined the police department when he encountered a murder case. He followed the retiring veteran Detective William Somerset to the crime scene.

It was also the first scene of 'Seven Deadly Sins', 'Gluttony'.

"Coffee?"

Detective Mills, holding two cups of coffee, walked towards the old William, who had just gotten out of the car in the rain.

"No!"

Old William ignored him and walked towards the crime scene with his tools.

Detective Mills put a cup of coffee on the steps and quickly followed the old William in front.

"The scene is untouched. Everything is in its original position."

A uniformed police officer outside the crime scene reported to the two.

"What time was the death?"

Old William asked.

"Like I just told you, I didn't touch anything, but his face has been in the spaghetti for almost 45 minutes."

The uniformed police officer said as he walked.

"Wait, so no one checked if he was alive or dead?"

Detective Mills asked.

"Was I not clear? This guy stopped breathing a long time ago, unless someone can breathe in spaghetti sauce."

The uniformed police officer said.

"Is this how you investigate cases here?"

Detective Mills asked questioningly.

"Sorry, Detective, this guy is sitting in his own feces. If he wasn't dead, he would have stood up himself a long time ago."

"That's enough, Officer. Thank you for your explanation."

Detective Mills handed the coffee to the uniformed police officer.

"Cut!"

This scene was filmed in a long take, mainly filming the walking movements and dialogue of several people, with low performance requirements.

It had been rehearsed twice before the formal shooting, and it passed in one take during the formal shooting.

Link called the actors for the next scene to rehearse twice on set, did a test shot, and continued filming after confirming that there were no problems.

After Detective William Somerset and Detective Mills entered the scene, they were immediately shocked by the victim's size. The deceased was a huge fat man, wearing a large vest, like a pile of meat lying on the dining table, his face buried in the plate.

There were many cockroaches running around on the table and floor.

The dead fat man was covered with blue blood vessels and scars, looking very terrifying.

When filming this scene, relevant experts and forensic doctors were on-site to guide, what the deceased should look like, and the makeup would try to meet the requirements.

"Who said this was murder?"

Detective Mills said, shining a flashlight on the fat man's body.

"No one!"

Old William said.

"This guy's heart must be as big as a ham can. If it wasn't a heart attack, I wouldn't know."

Detective Mills said.

Old William shone his flashlight around, squatted down to shine it under the table, and glanced at Mills.

Detective Mills also squatted down and saw that the deceased's hands and feet were tied with wire.

"Cut!"

"Next scene!"

Because this scene was relatively complicated, Link and the crew filmed here for four consecutive days before all the shots were completed.
