#142 - Double happiness
Santa Monica, in a villa on the Pacific Palisades.
Nicole Kidman, having just finished her bath, saw Aaron put down his phone, "Is something the matter?"
"It's nothing, Spielberg went to the set of 'Jurassic Park' in Hawaii. 'Schindler's List' just wrapped up filming, and he went straight to the set of his new movie!"
Aaron shook his head, he really was in a hurry.
Nicole Kidman climbed into bed, "Now, Dawn's projects are increasing. I heard you're going to collaborate with Columbia Pictures on a Zorro movie, and the director plans to invite Mr. Ridley Scott. Is that true?"
"Yes, do you have any interest?" Aaron said as he leaned over and began kissing the woman.
"Hmm, what kind of genre is it?"
Nicole Kidman removed her bathrobe, responding to the man's kisses and caresses.
"It's an adventure action film. Zorro, of course, will have a lot of fight scenes!"
Aaron smiled and leaned over the woman, "Do you think you can handle a lot of fight scenes?"
Nicole Kidman thought for a moment, looking at her man, "With you around, wouldn't that be possible?"
"Alright, this movie isn't really suitable for you. With your figure and build, I'm worried you'll get hurt!"
"Okay," Nicole Kidman wasn't lacking scripts at the moment, and action movies were indeed a bit too much for her.
"Yeah, if you really get injured, it'll be hard to find an insurance company to insure you in the future."
"By the way, do you remember that female director from New Zealand, Jane Campion?"
Nicole Kidman asked.
"Jane Campion? The independent female director from the Cannes Film Festival a few years ago. Her film 'Sweetie' was also nominated for the Palme d'Or at the time;"
"However, it lost to Steven Soderbergh's 'Sex, Lies, and Videotape'. You've been in contact with her, right?"
Aaron stroked the woman's smooth, white body and quickly remembered.
"Yes, recently she's been preparing a literary drama film called 'The Piano', which tells the story of an American mute young woman in the mid-19th century who leaves her husband and returns to New Zealand with her daughter, where she meets and falls in love with a new neighbor through a piano!"
Aaron blinked, "The Piano"?
"Jane Campion is going to shoot this movie in Australia, right? Does she need investment?"
"Then are you willing to invest?" Nicole Kidman leaned into the man's arms, "Her movies don't seem to have much commercial appeal!"
But this "The Piano" is different, how could Aaron let it go?
"Don't worry, an Australian film won't cost much. Jane Campion's works are always favored by some award ceremonies;"
"You can tell Jane Campion to prepare well, Crescent Films will support her!"
Aaron's newly established Crescent Films and Twilight Films had to make a name for themselves, just like "The Lover", "Reality Bites", and "Farewell My Concubine" which all belong to art films.
"She's still perfecting the script, and it can be filmed soon with your support!"
As she said that, Nicole Kidman hugged the man and offered a sweet kiss.
"Mmm," Aaron teased, "Darling, can't you repay me properly?"
Nicole Kidman leaned close to the man's ear, her voice seductive, "How about finding someone else so you can enjoy double the pleasure!"
"Hiss, you're so good?"
"Wait until later, see how you perform..."
After entering April, filming for "Scent of a Woman" ended, and post-editing began, and will be released during the awards season at the end of this year along with "Schindler's List";
"Indecent Proposal" and "Sleepless in Seattle" will be released in the summer.
As for Jane Campion's new film "The Piano", brokered by Nicole Kidman, Crescent Films invested $1.5 million as filming funds;
Because this movie really doesn't have many scenes or too many actors, it's just a story about a few actors revolving around a piano!
However, the big project for Dawn Films now is the action film "Speed", with a filming budget of $33 million, and the filming location is mainly in Los Angeles;
Keanu Reeves, who just collaborated with Aaron on "Bram Stoker's Dracula", is the male lead of the movie. He has filming experience with "Point Break", so this "Speed" isn't too difficult for him.
On the other side, on the East Coast in New York, Aaron Anderson's old acquaintance Harvey Weinstein looked worried. Compared to the infinitely glorious Dawn, Miramax's situation was very bad;
In the past two years, Miramax's large-scale acquisition of overseas art films and supported independent films have been released, but they have never achieved the success of "Sex, Lies, and Videotape" and "Cinema Paradiso"!
Last year, the highest-grossing film distributed by Miramax was only $15 million, which was a documentary, "Madonna: Truth or Dare";
It was based on some performances and life segments from singer Madonna's 1990 "Blond Ambition" world tour, showing the superstar to the audience in a relatively realistic way.
"Ah," Harvey Weinstein grabbed his hair in the Miramax office in New York, his jealousy and hatred for Aaron Anderson growing stronger;
The physical beating and psychological torment that Aaron Anderson inflicted on him before were still vivid in his mind. How could the gap between the two of them suddenly be so big?
Not to mention the annual North American box office champion "Ghost" and the Oscar Best Picture "The Silence of the Lambs";
Even a film about black community issues, "Boyz n the Hood", directed by a black new director, grossed $57 million!
"Harvey, it's time to change your thinking," suddenly the office door was pushed open, and it turned out that it was his brother Bob Weinstein who came in.
"What Miramax needs now is box office and commercial attributes, not damn film critic praise!"
"Bob, what do you mean?"
Harvey Weinstein looked at his brother and asked.
"What do I mean? I want to create a genre film label that specializes in distributing violent, bloody, horror, and hot beauties;";
"Distributing this kind of pure commercial film is the path that we Miramax should take!"
For Bob Weinstein, nothing is more important than the commerciality of a film. The ultimate purpose of a film should be to make money;
This is also the biggest difference between Bob Weinstein and Harvey Weinstein. What he cares about is whether this movie makes money?
Instead of the damn, whether this movie has won any awards or has several Oscar nominations, etc.
Harvey Weinstein looked at his brother Bob Weinstein and still expressed his support:
"Miramax's direction will not change, and it will continue to boldly develop independent art films;";
As for you wanting to create a genre film label, then go do it!"
