HP Approaches the Magic World

Chapter 3 Invitation from Aunt

Jon followed his mother into the wand shop. A mother and daughter were walking out of the shop, apparently choosing wands for school. Mrs. Smith and the witch mother nodded to each other, even though they did not know each other.

The young witch who received the reception in the shop led Mrs. Smith to sit on a bench on one side to wait, and then led Jon to a space separated by a curtain at the back of the hall.

The famous master wand maker, Mr. Ollivander, was standing on the ladder arranging his wands. The witch waiter softly told Jon to wait a moment, and then withdrew.

Jon quietly watched the thin Mr. Ollivander floating back and forth on the ladder. He looked at the "wall" made of long and narrow cardboard boxes, and suddenly remembered a description from the original novel.

He read out softly: "The dust and silence here seem to make people feel that there is hidden mysterious magic."

That's it! Jon asked himself that he couldn't think of such a direct yet beautiful description, but this did not prevent him from remembering the description in the book.

"Oh, it's a very novel statement." Mr. Ollivander climbed down from the stairs at some point and walked up to Jon: "Good afternoon."

"Oh, hello, are you Mr. Ollivander?"

Jon said nervously.

"Oh, yes, yes, don't be nervous."

Mr. Ollivander said: "I know I'll see you soon, Jon Smith, and that won't be a problem. Your eyes are almost the same as your mother's. She came here to buy her first

A magic wand, it seems like yesterday..."

Such familiar lines.

Jon seriously doubted that Mr. Ollivander had said this to every wizard who came here to buy a wand, but he would not be stupid enough to expose this matter, and would just smile in cooperation.

"Okay, Mr. Smith, come on, let me see." Ollivander coughed twice and picked it up from the workbench: "Which hand are you good at using?"

"Oh, I'm right-handed."

Jon raised his hand and asked Ollivander to measure his size, first from shoulder to fingertips, then from wrist to elbow, shoulder to floor, knee to armpit, and finally the head circumference. The complicated process even made people feel uncomfortable.

Jon suspects that Ollivander wants to create a magical wax figure of him.

"Mr. Smith, let's try this one. It's made of cherry wood and unicorn tail hair. It's thirteen inches long."

After the measurement was completed, Mr. Ollivander waved, and one of the cardboard boxes on the ceiling automatically flew into Mr. Ollivander's hand, and Mr. Ollivander took out the wand from it.

Jon picked up the slender wand and waved it, but as expected, there was no reaction.

Normally, a wizard's wand is never chosen immediately, but I just don't know if this is Mr. Ollivander's marketing ploy.

"Oh, maybe try this one, willow, dragon's nerve, eleven inches long."

Jon cooperated with Mr. Ollivander to choose a wand. After all, he knew nothing about wands and had no other choice.

"I like picky customers, but it doesn't matter, I can always find one here - oh, try this."

Ollivander raised his hand slightly, and a cardboard box flew over from the edge of the wand wall. He took out the wand inside and handed it to Jon: "Grapevine wood, unicorn hair, nine and three-quarters inches long.

, relatively soft and elastic.”

Jon took the wand and tapped it gently, and golden sparks burst out from the top of the wand, blooming like fireworks.

"That's it, great."

Ollivander happily wrapped the wand in silk and put it in the wooden box. He smiled and said to Jon: "What a wonderful combination. You must be a little wizard with extraordinary ambition and structure. I wish you a happy life in Hogwart."

It’s a happy study life in Ci.”

"Thank you for your appreciation."

Jon took the wooden box and heard the sound of his mother's high heels on the bluestone floor.

The moment the curtain was opened, Mr. Ollivander's voice also sounded at the same time.

"The price is six galleons, thank you for your patronage."

After leaving Ollivander's Wand Shop, I went to the clothing store to pick up some clothes, and then picked out a silver-gray owl. This trip to Diagon Alley was over.

Mainly because they were delayed for too long in the wand shop. When the mother and son returned home, it was already noon.

Putting the things in his hands back into his room, when Jon came downstairs again, he happened to see two strange owls standing in the living room.

"Has anything new arrived?"

Jon stepped forward and opened one of the packages, which contained exactly two books: "Magic Theory" and "Dark Powers: A Guide to Self-Defense", which were the two books that Mrs. Smith had missed when she ordered the books.

Another owl delivered a letter with the addressee Lin Smith on it. Based on the principle that there is no privacy between mother and son, Jon opened the letter.

Dear sister:

I heard that my cute little nephew received the admission notice to Hogwarts. My mother and I are very happy. Today is the weekend. I wonder if your family can come to the manor for dinner before dinner? My mother and I miss it very much.

Our little wizard.

Another note: To my lovely nephew Jon, your cousin asked me to take care of him for you.

Your dear——Mei Yang

This is a letter from home. Jon has a good impression of his aunt, who has experienced an unfortunate marriage but is still gentle and kind. He is also very familiar with his grandmother's manor mentioned in the letter.

After all, he had lived there for a year when he was a child. His grandmother, Carolina Yang, was a very kind old witch who looked very similar to her grandmother in her previous life.

Perhaps all the old people in the world look the same. Jon shouted a few words loudly, briefly described the content of the letter to Mrs. Smith, and got instructions from his mother to call his father to talk about the matter.

Love Smith seemed very excited about going to his mother-in-law's house. He agreed and said he would go home early today, and then hung up the phone.

Jon put down the phone and turned around to see his mother standing on the stairs, waving her wand to bring books, cauldrons and other objects into her room. These things took up a lot of space, and Jon's room was quickly set up.

A "low wall".

Of course, the grapevine wand that belonged to him was stuffed into the sleeve of his shirt and was not mixed with those school supplies.

This is the most important step for him to explore the magical world, and of course he cannot mix it with those things.

"Don't you want to change into your robe? We are going to grandma's house later."

Jon shook his head and declined his mother's suggestion, saying that this one was fine. He didn't think wizard robes were very convenient. Large robes could hold more things, but they also limited the flexibility of movement to a certain extent, at least in

At home, Jon still prefers to wear casual clothes.
