HP Approaches the Magic World
Chapter 7 The Big House and the Elf
Jon didn't think that the decision to have more children was a temporary decision, but he was only an eleven-year-old child, so what could he decide?
Looking at the expectant eyes of his parents across from him, Jon finally gave in under the gentle gazes of his aunt and grandmother and Bella's curious eyes and agreed to this request.
After all, Britain has a relatively small population. In order to prevent the wizarding bloodline from being completely cut off, having children is a big deal, and he also expressed his understanding.
As for living by himself... he can live at his grandmother's house, which is very close anyway.
"But when I start school, you will come to see me off, right?"
"Oh, of course." Mr. Smith nodded quickly: "We will take you and Bella to the station together."
After all, he still wanted to see what platform nine and three-quarters was like.
Jon nodded. Although he knew that non-wizard parents might not be able to enter the platform, theoretically his father was a squib. There were some differences in this world from the original work, just like the shops in Diagon Alley were not included in the original work.
It's as shabby as described.
After dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Smith used the Floo network to return to Greenwich, but Jon stayed.
Bella Yang seemed the happiest. She usually stayed alone in the manor during her holidays. There were no other wizarding families living here, so there was no one to play with her.
Now she has a cousin to accompany her, and will always be with her in the future. She is very happy.
But Jon didn't really want to play with Bella, a little girl who was in puberty, that would kill him.
"My dear sister, if you are really bored, why not discuss some things about magic learning with me? By the way, tell me about Hogwarts. I think we must have something to do on this matter.
There’s a lot to talk about.”
His mind is filled with an entire "Harry Potter Spell Collection".
But even if he was practicing magic, he didn't want to move today. He used the Floo Network several times in a row and walked around Diagon Alley for a long time. His young body was really tired.
"Okay then, you go to bed first."
Bella confirmed that Jon was really a little tired, so she had to give up her plan to start entertainment tonight: "Then I'll teach you two simple magic tricks tomorrow, let's make an agreement."
Jon nodded and went back to the decorated guest room to sleep.
…
Mr. Smith moved very quickly. When Jon got up the next day, he heard the sound of machinery rumbling outside.
"What's going on outside?"
He got dressed and walked to the corridor, where Bella was lying by the window looking at the house under construction opposite.
Because the wizard's bloodline disappeared, the magic barrier of the Smith family's old house has long since disappeared, and the magic energy inside has also dissipated. It is now an ordinary small manor.
Since it is too old to be inhabited, it naturally needs to be renovated.
Jon withdrew his eyes from the construction workers and suddenly saw Aunt May talking to an old man.
"Oh, that was the old housekeeper who used to look after the house here. He was old, so my uncle gave him a sum of money and let him go back." Bella explained in time.
Only then did Jon think of another question: "Without a housekeeper, would I have to live in such a big house alone?"
"Not really, grandma has prepared a big gift for you - it can't be regarded as a gift." Bella's voice was a little envious: "Part of the inheritance of your Smith family is from grandma, but that inheritance was passed over by grandma.
I used it and exchanged it for some more precious materials, so this time grandma bought you a house elf as a gift to your butler."
House elf?
This gift is too big!
Naturally, Jon would not believe that it was because of those inheritances. A declining wizarding family where the wizarding bloodline had become thinner. Part of the legacy left behind was still placed in the treasury. Even if there was more left, it would not be enough.
where it goes.
It was probably because his grandma felt sorry for his little grandson that she spent a lot of money to buy a house elf. Jon didn’t know how much an elf was worth, but judging from the original book, the Weasley family was the Holy Twenty-eight.
If one of the clans does not own an elf, then it will definitely not be cheap.
Is this what it feels like to have money?
Jon Smith, a pure-blood young wizard who suddenly inherited a mansion and a treasury - his grandmother was still a rich woman - and was about to become a student at Hogwarts, felt very satisfied at the moment.
"By the way, aunt didn't say how long it will take to renovate?"
Jon couldn't wait to move into his family's old house and meet his house elves.
"It will probably take three or four days. By the way, my uncle also said that if you have any ideas about the decoration of the house, you can tell my mother and let the workers do it for you."
Jon nodded, turned around and went downstairs to find his aunt.
"Hey, don't forget we have to play together in the afternoon!"
Bella's shout came from behind, and Jon didn't look back, he just waved his hand to indicate that he understood.
His mind is now filled with the design of the house. In his previous life, he had no money and couldn't afford a big house, but he still looked at a lot of decoration designs. The lighting must be good. He doesn't like the feeling of darkness. A room with insufficient light will make you feel uncomfortable at first sight.
It will damage your eyesight. Just look at Dumbledore and you will know that wizards are also myopic.
He is also planning to imitate the magic practice room in the Room of Requirement and build a similar room for practicing spells... The library cannot be left behind, there must be a place to store books and do research. He has not forgotten that he wants to become a magician.
Scholars’ Goals.
I feel like buying books is a huge expense... It's better to buy second-hand books, maybe you'll be like the Half-Blood Prince, and maybe you'll get some other benefits.
Jon, who was full of thoughts, told his aunt about his thoughts. Mei Yang was not surprised by this nephew's novel ideas. This child would often say things that were inappropriate for his age when he was a child. This was not surprising.
strangeness.
Besides, Jon is still the owner of this house, so it still depends on Jon’s ideas on how to renovate it.
"But the practice room you want may take a little longer to get. That kind of room needs to be magically reinforced. After these Muggle workers are finished, my aunt will invite some wizards to help you cast spells on the house."
Jon agreed with this point. Most wizards' houses need to be blessed with some protective spells such as the "Muggle Expelling Curse". He had already seen this in the original book.
"It's best to finish it as soon as possible. I still want to preview the magic that I will learn in the first grade before school starts."
Jon appropriately showed his expectations for magic and school, which made May Yang even happier.
"Don't worry, aunt will get it done as soon as possible. You can go and learn first-grade magic with your cousin. I think Bella will be very willing to tutor you."
