HP Approaches the Magical World
Chapter 3 Invitation from Aunt
Jon followed his mother into the wand shop. There was a mother and daughter walking out of the shop, apparently also picking out wands for admission. Mrs. Smith and the witch mother nodded to each other, even though they didn't know each other.
The young witch received in the shop led Mrs. Smith to sit on a bench and waited, and then led Jon to a space separated by a curtain at the back of the hall.
The well-known master wand maker, Mr. Ollivander was standing on the ladder to organize his wands. The witch waiter softly told Jon to wait a moment, and then backed out.
Jon quietly watched the thin Mr. Ollivander floating up and down the ladder. He looked at the "wall" made of long and narrow cardboard boxes, and suddenly remembered a description in the original book.
He read out softly: "The dust and silence here seem to make people feel that mysterious magic is hidden."
That's it! Jon asked himself that he couldn't think of such a direct but beautiful description, but this did not prevent him from remembering the description in the book.
"Oh, it's a very novel idea." Mr. Ollivander had climbed down from the stairs at some point and walked up to Jon: "Good afternoon."
"Oh, hello, are you Mr. Ollivander?"
Jon said nervously.
"Oh, yes, yes, don't be nervous."
Mr. Ollivander said, "I know I'll see you soon, Jon Smith, no problem. Your eyes look almost like your mother's when she came here to buy her first A wand, it seems like yesterday..."
Very familiar lines.
Jon seriously doubted that Mr. Ollivander had said this to every wizard who came here to buy wands, but he would not be stupid enough to expose this matter, he just smiled cooperatively.
"Okay, Mr. Smith, come on, let me see." Ollivander coughed twice, picked it up from the workbench: "Which hand are you good at?"
"Oh, I'm right-handed."
Jon raised his hand and asked Ollivander to measure him, first from the shoulder to the fingertips, then from the wrist to the elbow, from the shoulder to the floor, from the knee to the armpit, and finally the circumference of the head. Jon suspects that Ollivander wants to make him a magical wax figure.
"Mr. Smith, try this one. It's made of cherry wood and unicorn hair. It's thirteen inches long."
After the measurement, Mr. Ollivander beckoned, and one of the cardboard boxes on the ceiling automatically flew into Mr. Ollivander's hand, and Mr. Ollivander took out the wand from it.
Jon picked up the slender wand and waved it. As expected, there was no reaction.
It's normal, the wizard's wand is never chosen right away, but I just don't know if this is Mr. Ollivander's marketing gimmick.
"Oh, maybe try this one, willow, dragon's nerve, eleven inches long."
Jon cooperated with Mr. Ollivander to choose the wand. After all, he knew nothing about wands and had no other way.
"I like fussy customers, but never mind, I can always find one here—oh, try this."
Ollivander raised his hand slightly, and a paper box flew over from the edge of the wand wall. He took out the wand inside and handed it to Jon: "Vine wood, unicorn feather, nine and three quarter inches long, It's softer and more elastic."
Jon took the wand, and with a light tap, golden sparks burst out from the top of the wand, blooming like fireworks.
"That's it, great."
Ollivander happily wrapped the wand in silk and put it in a wooden box, and said to Jon with a smile: "What a wonderful combination, you must be a little wizard with extraordinary ambition and style, I wish you good luck in Hogwarts! Ci's study life is happy."
"Thank you for your appreciation."
Jon took the wooden box,
At the same time, the sound of mother's high heels stepping on the bluestone floor can be heard.
The moment the curtain was lifted, Mr. Ollivander's voice sounded at the same time.
"The price is six Galleons, thank you for your patronage."
...
After leaving Ollivander's wand shop, he went to the clothing store to pick up his clothes, and went to pick up a silver-gray owl. This trip to Diagon Alley was considered to be over.
The main reason was that the delay in the wand shop was too long. When the mother and son returned home, it was already noon.
Putting the things in his hands back into his room, when Jon came down from upstairs again, he happened to see two strange owls standing in the living room.
"Has anything new arrived?"
Jon stepped forward to open one of the packages, and there happened to be two books inside: "Magic Theory" and "Dark Power: A Guide to Self-Defense", which were the two books that Mrs. Smith had missed when ordering the books.
Another owl sent a letter with the addressee Lynn Smith on it. Jon opened the letter based on the principle of no privacy between mother and child.
dear sister:
My mother and I are very happy to hear that my lovely little nephew has received an acceptance letter from Hogwarts. Today is the weekend. I wonder if your family can come to the manor for dinner before dinner? My mother and I miss it Our little wizard.
Another: To my lovely nephew Jon, your cousin asked me to take care of you.
your dear - mei yang
This is a letter from home. Jon has a good impression of his aunt who has experienced an unhappy marriage but is still gentle and kind. He is also familiar with the grandma's manor mentioned in the letter.
After all, he had lived there for a year when he was a child. His grandmother, Carolina Young, was a very kind old witch, and she looked very similar to her grandmother in the previous life.
Maybe all the old people in the world look similar. Jon shouted a few words, briefly described the content of the letter with Mrs. Smith, and got instructions from his mother to call his father about it.
Love Smith seemed very excited about going to his mother-in-law's house. He promised and said that he would go home early today, and then hung up the phone.
Jon put down the phone, turned around and saw his mother standing on the stairs, waving a wand to send books, cauldrons and other items into his room. These things took up a lot of space, and Jon's room was quickly built A "low wall".
Of course, his vine wood wand was tucked into the sleeve of his shirt, and it wasn't mixed with those school supplies.
This is the most important step for him to explore the magical world, and of course he can't be mixed with those things.
"Don't you want to change your robe? We're going to grandma's house later."
Jon shook his head and declined his mother's suggestion, saying that this outfit is very good. He doesn't think the wizard's robe is so convenient. The wide robe can hold more things but it also limits the flexibility of movement to a certain extent, at least in the At home, Jon still prefers to wear casual clothes.
