HP Approaches the Magical World

Chapter 776: Harry's Waiting

Regarding Jon's warning, Snape actually understood a little bit in his heart.

A person like him would never put his own safety on others, although he no longer cared much about whether he wanted to live or not.

If he was killed by Voldemort, then he could take it too.

That way he can go with that person.

However, Jon didn't think this was a good choice.

When a person's life ends should be chosen by the person himself, not passively decided by others.

There was nothing he could do to help Snape, the only thing he could promise was to keep Snape safe.

If Snape wants to forget the past, he can help, even if Snape wants to forget Harry Potter's mother, he can do the same.

After all, he is not alone, and he is accompanied by a memory master and a psychological wizard.

Judging from this situation, his men are still full of talents.

"Then let's end our conversation today. Anyway, it's almost time. I'll leave first. If you have anything to do, you can contact me at any time. Don't be embarrassed to say it. The more you say, the better."

"Don't worry, I know." Snape sent Jon to the door: "If there is anything, I will contact you as soon as possible. If I can't find you, I will also find Dumbledore."

"Then I'll go first."

Jon took the hourglass from the door cabinet, and the time-distorted domain instantly closed, and the time here returned to normal again.

Then he tore through space and disappeared from Snape's door.

...

Harry was snoring loudly.

He sat in a chair by the bedroom window for nearly four hours, looking out at the darkening street, before falling asleep.

One cheek was pressed against the cold windowpane, his glasses were on one side, and his mouth was open.

The hot air he exhaled on the window was shining brightly from the orange street lamps outside. Under this unnatural light, his face was bloodless, his black hair was matted, and he looked a bit like a ghost.

There were owl feathers, apple cores, and sugar wrappers scattered on the floor of the room, a few spellbooks on the bed were scattered among the robes, and a pile of newspapers lay on the table under the lamp.

One of the titles is very eye-catching:

Harry Potter: The Savior?

"We're not allowed to talk about it, don't ask me anything."

said an anxious-looking amnesticist, who did not want to be named, as he left the Ministry of Magic last night.

However, sources at the Ministry of Magic confirmed that the center of the disturbance was the fabled Hall of Prophecy.

Although Ministry of Magic spokespersons have so far refused to confirm the existence of such a place, there is a growing belief in the wizarding community that the Death Eaters serving time in Azkaban for assault and theft were trying to steal A prophecy ball.

The contents of the prophecy ball are unknown, but speculation has been rife that it had something to do with Harry Potter, the only person known to have survived the Killing Curse, and was said to have been at the Ministry that night.

Some even called Potter "the savior," believing that the prophecy indicated that only Potter could free us from a man who must not even be named.

The second newspaper was placed next to the first with the headline:

Scrimgeour succeeds Fudge

Much of the front page was taken up by a large black-and-white photo of a man with lion-like hair and a savage face.

The picture is animated—the man is waving his hands toward the ceiling.

Rufus Scrimgeour, former head of the Auror Office of the Ministry of Magic's Law Enforcement Department, succeeds Cornelius Fudge as Minister for Magic.

On the left side of this newspaper, there is another folded newspaper, on which an article "Ministry of Magic keeps students safe" is just exposed.

Speaking today, new Minister for Magic Rufus Scrimgeour said,

The Ministry of Magic has taken some new tough measures,

Ensuring Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry students return safely this autumn.

"For obvious reasons, the Ministry of Magic will not disclose the specifics of its rigorous and up-to-date security plans."

However, an insider confirmed that these included some defensive magic and spells, a series of broken spells and a special Auror team sent to protect Hogwarts school.

The new minister's firm stance on keeping students safe seems to have reassured most. Lady Augusta Longbottom said: "My grandson Neville - who happens to be a good friend of Harry's, was at the Ministry fighting the Death Eaters with Harry in June, and -"

The rest of the story was overshadowed by a large birdcage above which contained an imposing snow-white owl.

Its amber eyes scanned the room majestically, and its head turned from time to time to look at its sleeping master.

Once or twice it clicked and clicked impatiently, but Harry was too deep in sleep to hear. 

In the middle of the room stood a large box, the lid open, as if expecting something, but it was almost empty, save for sweets, old underwear, empty ink bottles, and broken quills scattered about at the bottom. On the floor next to the box is a purple booklet with bold text: 

immune to black magic

Harry grunted in his sleep, his cheeks slid an inch or two down the window, his glasses crooked even more, but he didn't wake up.

An alarm clock, which Harry had repaired years before, was ticking on the windowsill, and it was a minute to eleven.

Next to the alarm clock, in Harry's loose hand, was a piece of parchment with words written in long, sideways script.

After the letter was delivered three days ago, Harry often took it out to look at it. The parchment was tightly rolled when it was first delivered, but it was now flat.

Dear Harry:

If it is convenient for you, I will pick you up at number four, Privet Drive, at eleven o'clock this Friday night, to take you to the Burrow, where they invite you to spend the remainder of your summer holidays.

Also, I have an errand to do on my way to the Burrow, and I would be very glad to have your assistance.

Details will be discussed when we meet.

Please bring back this owl in return. See you on Friday.

your most faithful

Albus Dumbledore

Harry remembered the contents of the letter by heart, but since sitting by the bedroom window at seven o'clock in the evening, he couldn't help but sneak a few more glances at it every few minutes.

He knew there was no need to read Dumbledore's letter over and over again.

Harry had sent his affirmative answer back to the messenger owl as requested.

All he could do now was wait - whether Dumbledore came or not.
