Things aren't that bad, though.
Harry and the others were obviously a little flustered, or they were in no mood to take care of other things, so he took a breath and left.
Almost at the same time, Jon walked out of the void, and the magic power and memory were transmitted into Snape's body together.
The world tree unfolded in his eyes, and the power of life was transmitted into Snape's body, and then he suddenly breathed.
People have come alive.
There is no other problem, he will take care of these things by himself.
[Snape's finale over]
Jon knocked a board in his heart, and then walked out from here.
All that matters now is watching Harry.
...
Lying on the office floor with his face pressed against the dirty carpet, Harry once thought he was here to learn the secrets of victory.
Harry finally understood that he was not going to survive.
His task was to walk peacefully into the open arms of death.
Along the way, he would also sever Voldemort's last link to life.
That way, when he finally rushes to face Voldemort, and doesn't shield himself with his wand, the ending will be clean and complete, and the work that should have been done back in Godric's Hollow is truly over: no one survives, no one survives.
He felt his heart beating violently in his chest.
How strange that, in his fear of death, his heart beat so powerfully that it bravely kept him alive.
But it had to stop, and it had to stop soon.
It won't be beating too much.
How many times could his heart beat as he stood up and walked across the castle for the last time, across the playground, into the Forbidden Forest?
He lay on the floor, flooded with fear, the funeral drum beating inside him.
Does death hurt?
How many times he thought death was imminent and got away with it, but never really thought about death itself.
His desire to live was always stronger than his fear of death.
But now it did not occur to him to escape, to escape Voldemort's clutches.
He knew that it was all over and there was only one thing left: death.
If only he had died that summer night when he left number four, Privet Drive for the last time, but the noble phoenix feather wand saved him!
How nice it would be if he could die like Hedwig, killed suddenly without knowing it!
Or, if he could stand in front of the wand in order to save the one he loves... at this moment he is even jealous of his parents' death.
It takes a different kind of courage to go so calmly and calmly to your own destruction.
He felt his fingers trembling slightly, but he managed to control it. Although no one could see it, the portraits on the wall were empty.
Slowly, very slowly, he sat up, feeling himself alive, more aware of his living body than ever before.
How had he never realized before what a marvel he was: mind, nerves, beating heart?
Everything would be gone...at least, he would be away from it all.
His breathing was slow and heavy, and his mouth and throat were very dry, but so were his eyes.
Dumbledore's deceit is really nothing.
Of course there was a bigger plan, but Harry was too stupid to see it.
He finally understood now.
He had always taken it for granted that he had never doubted that Dumbledore wanted him alive.
Now he knows that the length of his life is always determined by how long it takes to wipe out all the Horcruxes.
Dumbledore entrusted him with the task of destroying the Horcruxes, and he obediently continued to weaken the link that connected not only Voldemort's life, but his own!
How succinct, how succinct, don't waste any more life, entrust this dangerous task to a boy who is doomed,
His death would not be a catastrophe, but another blow to Voldemort.
Dumbledore knew that Harry would not run away, knew that he would go to the end, even though that was his end, because Dumbledore had tried to understand Harry.
isn't it?
Voldemort knew, and Dumbledore knew, that once Harry found out he had the strength to stop him, he would not allow others to die for him.
The sight of the bodies of Fred, Lupine and Tonks lying in the Great Hall flooded Harry's mind again, making him breathless for a moment: Death can't wait...
But Dumbledore had overestimated him. He failed and the snake was still alive.
Even though Harry was killed, there was still a Horcrux that bound Voldemort to the earth.
Of course, that means it's easier for others to get it.
Who would do it, he wondered...Ron and Hermione must have known what needed to be done...that's why Dumbledore wanted him to reveal the secret to them both...
That way, if he fulfills his true destiny a little earlier, they can move on...
Like rain on a cold window, these thoughts slammed into the hard, undeniable fact that he had to die. I must die. Things have to end.
Ron and Hermione seemed far, far away, in some distant country. He felt that he had been separated from them for a long time. Don't say goodbye, don't explain, he's already made up his mind. It was a journey they could not travel together, they would try to stop him, it would be a waste of precious time. He looked down at the warped gold watch he'd gotten for his seventeenth birthday. Nearly half an hour had elapsed since Voldemort's allotted time for his surrender.
Harry stood up, heart pounding against his ribs like a mad bird. Maybe it knows time is running out, maybe it decides to finish the beating of a lifetime before it's over. Without looking back, Harry closed the office door.
The castle was empty. He strode along alone, feeling like a ghost, as if he were dead. The framed portraits remained empty, and there was an eerie silence throughout the school, as if all remaining life had gathered in the Great Hall, where the dead and mourners crowded.
Harry put the Invisibility Cloak on and walked down the stairs, finally up the marble staircase to the entrance hall. Perhaps, in a small corner of his heart, he hoped that someone would sense him, see him, and stop him, but the cloak was as perfect and impeccable as ever, and he walked to the door easily.
Suddenly, Neville almost ran into him. Neville and another man brought in a body from the playground. Harry looked down and felt another blow to the heart: Colin Creevey. He's not old enough to have sneaked back like Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle. He looked so young when he died.
"Listen, Neville, I can carry him alone," said Oliver Wood, carrying Colin on his shoulders like a firefighter into the auditorium.
Neville leaned against the door frame for a moment, wiping the sweat from his brow with the back of his hand. He looks like an old man. Then he went down the steps again, into the darkness to search for other bodies.
Harry took one last look at the entrance to the Great Hall. People were walking around, comforting each other, drinking, kneeling beside the dead, but he couldn't see a single person he loved, not Hermione, Ron, Ginny and the rest of the Weasleys, nor Luna. He felt that he was willing to exchange all the remaining time for seeing them one last time, but if that was the case, would he still have the willpower to look away? It's still better.
He descended the steps and out into the night. It was almost four in the morning, and the deadly silence of the playground seemed to be holding its breath, waiting to see if he would do what he had to do.
Harry walked over to Neville, who was bending over the other body.
"Neville."
"My God, Harry, you almost scared the hell out of me!"
Harry had already taken off the Invisibility Cloak. The idea came out of the blue because he wanted to be sure.
"Where are you going alone?" Neville asked suspiciously.
"It's part of the plan, too," said Harry, "I'm going to do something. Listen to me—Neville—"
"Harry!" Neville said with a sudden look of horror, "Harry, don't you want to hand yourself over?"
"No," Harry lied casually, "of course it's not...something else. But I may be missing for a while. Neville, you know Voldemort's snake? He has a very large snake... ...called Nagini..."
"I know, I've heard... what's the matter?"
"It has to be killed. Ron and Hermione know, but in case they—"
The possibility was so dire that he was momentarily breathless and unable to go on. But he picked himself up again: it was vital, he had to keep his head like Dumbledore, make sure there was a replacement, someone else to get the job done. Dumbledore died knowing that there were still three people who knew about the Horcruxes, and now that Neville was replacing Harry, there were still three people who knew.
"In case they're - busy - and you have the chance to -"
"Kill the snake?"
"Kill the snake," Harry repeated.
"Okay, Harry. Are you all right?"
"I'm fine. Thank you, Neville."
Harry turned to leave when Neville grabbed his wrist.
"We'll all keep fighting, Harry. You know that?"
"know me--"
The feeling of suffocation made the second half of the sentence choked in his throat, and he couldn't continue. Neville didn't seem to notice Harry's strangeness. He patted Harry on the shoulder, let him go, and walked off to look for other bodies.
Harry put the cloak back on and walked on. Not far away, someone was moving, bending over to check a figure lying on the ground. Harry recognized Ginny when they were a few paces away.
He stopped abruptly. Ginny leaned over to comfort a girl who whispered for her mother.
"It's all right," Ginny said, "it's all right. We'll just take you in."
"But I want to go home," the girl whispered, "I don't want to fight anymore!"
"I know," Ginny said, her voice choked up, "it will pass."
Waves of chill ran over Harry's skin. He wanted to shout into the night, he wanted Ginny to know he was here, he wanted Ginny to know where he was going. He wanted to be stopped, dragged back, sent home...
However, he is at home now. Hogwarts was the first and best home he had ever known. He, Voldemort and Snape, the abandoned boys, all found a home here...
Ginny knelt beside the wounded girl now, and took her hand. Harry forced himself to go forward with great perseverance. He seemed to see Ginny look around as he passed, wondering if she sensed someone walking by, but Harry didn't speak or look back.
Hagrid's cabin emerged from the darkness. There was no light, and there was no sound of Fang scratching and barking at the door in welcome. To see Hagrid so many times, the brass kettle gleaming on the fire, the rock cakes, the giant grubs, and Hagrid's big, unshaven face, Ron spitting out slugs, Hermione helping Hagrid Save Norbert...
Harry walked on, and now he was at the edge of the forest. He stopped.
A pack of dementors was wandering among the trees, and he felt their chill and wondered if he could get through safely. He no longer has the strength to summon the Patronus. He could no longer control his trembling body. It seems that death is not so easy. Every second of his breath, the smell of the grass, the feeling of the cool breeze on his cheeks, is so precious. Thinking that others still have many, many years to squander, so much time that it is almost impossible to pass, but for him, every second is so hard to let go. He thought he couldn't go any further, and at the same time knew he had to. The long game is over, the Snitch has been captured and it's time to get out of the air...
Snitch. His feeble fingers fumbled for a moment in the leather pouch hanging around his neck, and then he pulled it out.
I open at the end.
Harry stared down at the Snitch, breathing fast and heavily. Now he hoped that the time would pass as slowly as possible, but time seemed to speed up, and he seemed to suddenly see the light without thinking about it. This is the end. it's time.
He pressed the golden metal surface to his lips and whispered, "I'm going to die."
The metal casing cracked.
Harry lowered his trembling hands, raised Draco's wand under the cloak, and said softly, "Lumos."
Among the snitches that split in two was the black stone with a tooth-like crack in the middle.
The cracks in the Resurrection Stone run straight down the symbol representing the Elder Wand, while the triangles and circles representing the Invisibility Cloak and the stone are still legible.
Harry had another epiphany.
It was no longer important to raise the dead, for he was about to be one of them. In fact, it was not he who was calling them, but they were calling him away.
He closed his eyes and turned the stone three times in his hand.
He knew there was a result, because he heard a slight movement around him, like some weak bodies moving on the mud scattered by the branches outside the forest. He opened his eyes and looked around.
He saw that they were neither ghosts nor flesh and blood. They were more like the Riddle who escaped from the diary long ago, like memories that almost became physical. They are not as real as the bodies of living people, but much more real than ghosts. They came towards him with such loving smiles on every face.
James was the same height as Harry, dressed in the clothes he had died in, with messy hair and glasses that were a little askew, like Mr Weasley.
Sirius was tall and handsome, much younger than Harry had seen him alive. He walked slowly and effortlessly, with his hands in his pockets and a smile on his face.
Lupine was also younger, less scruffy than he had become, and had darker and thicker hair. He seemed happy to be back in this familiar place, in the surroundings where he had wandered so many times in his youth.
Lily was the one who laughed the most among them. She brushed her long hair back and walked closer to Harry, her same green eyes staring hungrily at Harry's face as if she could never get enough of them.
"You are so brave."
Harry was speechless. He looked at his mother to his heart's content, as if he was willing to stand here and look at her forever, and he felt that this was enough.
"You're close," James said, "very close. We're... so proud of you."
"Does it hurt?"
The childish question came out of his mouth, and it was too late for Harry to stop it.
"Die? It doesn't hurt at all," said Sirius. "It's quicker and easier than going to sleep."
"He'll make it quick, he wants it over with," said Lupine.
"I don't want you to die," said Harry, the words coming out of nowhere, "every one of you. I'm sorry—"
The words were more addressed to Lupine, who begged his forgiveness.
"—you just had a son... Remus, I'm sorry—"
"I'm sad too," Lupine said, "sad that I can no longer raise him...but he'll know why I died and I hope he understands. I'm trying to make a better world for him to live in be happier."
A cold breeze seemed to be blowing from the middle of the forest, stirring the hair on Harry's forehead. He knows they won't call him forward and he has to make his own decisions.
"You will accompany me?"
"Until the end," James said.
"They can't see you?" Harry asked.
"We are a part of you," said Sirius, "invisible to others."
Harry looked at his mother.
"Stay with me," he said softly.
He set off. The dementor chill did not conquer him, and he walked through it with his loved ones, who were like his patron saints. Together they strode through the thick tangle of ancient trees, tangled with roots. In the darkness, Harry wrapped the Invisibility Cloak tightly around his body, and walked into the depths of the Forbidden Forest step by step. He didn't know exactly where Voldemort was, but he was sure he would be found. James, Sirius, Lupine and Lily walked quietly beside him. Their company gave him courage and was the reason why he was able to move forward step by step.
His body and mind seemed strangely disconnected, his mind acting without command, his limbs functioning automatically, as if he were a passenger rather than a driver of the body he was leaving. At this moment, he felt that the dead who walked with him in the Forbidden Forest were much more real than the living people in the castle. Ron, Hermione, Ginny and all the others were like ghosts, while he was Staggering, step by step, towards the end of life, towards Voldemort...
There was a bang, followed by a whisper. There are other living creatures moving nearby. Harry stopped under the Invisibility Cloak, looked around, listened, and so did Mother, Father, Lupine, and Sirius.
"There's someone there," whispered a hoarse voice nearby, "with an invisibility cloak, could it be—?"
Two figures flashed behind a nearby tree. Their wands were flashing, and Harry saw Yaxley and Dolohov staring into the darkness, right at where Harry, his parents, Sirius, and Lupine stood. Apparently they couldn't see anything.
"I must have heard something," said Yaxley. "Isn't it an animal, don't you think?"
"That idiot Hagrid keeps a bunch of scumbags here," said Dolohov, twisting his head.
Yaxley looked down at his watch.
"It's about time. Potter's hour is up, and he won't be coming."
"He thought he was sure to come! He wouldn't be happy."
"Go back," said Yaxley, "and see what's planned."
He and Dolohov turned and walked further into the Forbidden Forest, and Harry followed, knowing they would lead him where he wanted to go. He glanced aside, his mother smiled at him, and his father nodded encouragingly.
