Chapter313 Assassination target
(I feel uncomfortable, I take up the place first, and replace it tomorrow morning, so everyone will give me more.) The next morning, Harry went downstairs to have breakfast, and he found that the three of Dursley were already sitting at the kitchen table. They were watching a brand new TV, which was a gift for Dudley to welcome him home for the summer vacation. Dudley kept complaining loudly, saying that the refrigerator in the living room was too far from the TV. For most of the summer, Dudley was soaking in the kitchen, his greedy little eyes staring at the TV screen, while constantly eating, while his chin was constantly shaking.
Harry sat down between Dudley and Uncle Vernon. Uncle Vernon was a sturdy big man with a short neck and heavy lip. The Dursleys not only did not wish Harry a happy birthday, but they did not show that they saw Harry walking into the kitchen, but Harry had long been accustomed to this indifference. He took a piece of toast himself and looked at the news announcer on TV, who was broadcasting news about a fugitive criminal, halfway through.
"...The public must be aware that Black is armed and extremely dangerous. A hotline has been specially set up, and whoever knows Black's traces must be reported immediately."
"Don't tell us he has bad intentions," Uncle Vernon said, snorting, his eyes crossing the newspaper he was looking at and staring at the prisoner, "Look at his virtue, his dirty look! Look at his hair!"
He glanced at Harry maliciously, and Harry's messy hair kept annoyed Uncle Vernon when he saw it. However, the person on the screen was thin and surrounded by tangled hair, with a foot-long messy hair. Compared to him, Harry felt that he was indeed very neat.
The news announcer appeared on the screen again. "The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries will announce today-" "Say it!" Uncle Vernon roared, staring at the announcer furiously, "You haven't told us where this lunatic escaped! What's the use? The lunatic may be coming to this street!"
Aunt Penny was skinny and had a horse-faced face. She suddenly turned around and looked out of the kitchen window. Harry knew that Aunt Penny was eager to be the one who called the hotline. She was the most noisy woman in the world, and spent most of her life secretly monitoring her law-abiding and boring neighbors.
"When will they understand," Uncle Vernon said with his big purple fist, "only hang can deal with such people!" "Yes." Aunt Penny said, she was still looking at the neighbor's red cauliflower beans. Uncle Vernon drank his teacup, glanced at the watch, and said, "I'd better leave now, Penny, Maggie's train arrives at ten o'clock." Harry was thinking about the flying broom repair tool box upstairs, but he couldn't help but jumped when he heard this, and came back unhappily. "Aunt Maggie?" he blurted out, "She--she wasn't going here, right?"
Aunt Maggie is the sister of Uncle Vernon. Although she is not Harry's blood relative (Harry's mother and Aunt Penny are sisters), people have been forced to call Harry her aunt. Aunt Maggie lives in the countryside, and there is a large garden around the house where she raises trumpet dogs. She doesn't often come to Privet Road because she is reluctant to leave her precious dogs, but every time she visits, she leaves Harry with terrible and fresh memories.
At Dudley's fifth birthday party, Aunt Maggie once beat Harry in the calf with a cane, preventing him from surpassing Dudley in musical styling games. A few years later, she came on Christmas. The gift she gave Dudley was a robot with a computer and a box of dog biscuits. The last time she visited, the year before Harry went to Hogwarts to school, Harry accidentally stepped on the paws of her dog, and the dog chased Harry to the garden and forced him to climb a tree. Aunt Maggie was willing to call the dog back to the house after midnight. When the Dudley family talked about this, they still laughed loudly.
"Maggie is here for a week," snarled Uncle Vernon, "Since we've talked about it," one of his fat fingers pointed at Harry, "It's necessary for us to make it clear before I go to pick her up."
Dudley laughed and took his eyes back from the TV. Dudley watched Harry be bullied by his father because it was his favorite way of entertainment.
"First," Uncle Vernon shouted, "No rude to Maggie."
"Okay," Harry said painfully, "as long as she speaks politely to me."
"Second," said Uncle Vernon, pretending not to hear Harry's answer, "Maggie doesn't know about your abnormalities, so when she's here, I don't want to - don't see anything weird. Do you have to be more rude, do you understand?"
"As long as she follows the rules," Harry said, gritting his teeth. "There is a third point," said Uncle Vernon, now his mean little eyes were slits in his big purple face, "we have told Maggie that you are at St. Bruce Security Center Juvenile Delinquent School." "What?" Harry shouted.
"You have to insist on saying this, boy, or there will be trouble." Uncle Vernon said angrily. Harry sat there, furious, and his face turned pale. He stared at Uncle Vernon, unable to believe this statement. Aunt Maggie was coming here for a week--the worst of the birthday gifts given to him by Dursley's house, including the old pair of Uncle Vernon's socks. "Well, Penny," said Uncle Vernon, standing up heavily, "then I'll go to the train station
Go. Dudley, are you going with me?" "No." Dudley said that since his father had threatened Harry, his attention returned to the TV. "Dadley dressed himself up to welcome his aunt," said Aunt Penny, stroking Dudley's thick blonde hair, "Mom has bought you a cute bow tie." Uncle Vernon patted Dudley's thick shoulder. "So, come back," said Uncle Vernon, so he left the kitchen.
Harry was so scared that he sat there in a daze, but suddenly had an idea. He dropped the toast, stood up quickly, and followed Uncle Vernon to the front door. Uncle Vernon was wearing a coat.
"I won't take you there." He turned around and saw Harry looking at him, and shouted. "It seems like I want to go," Harry said coldly, "I have something to ask you."
Uncle Vernon looked at him suspiciously. "Hog—the third-year students in our school can sometimes visit that village." Harry said. "So what?" Uncle Vernon snapped, removing the car key from a hook next to the gate.
"I need you to sign me to agree." Harry said in one breath. "Why do I agree?" Uncle Vernon said sarcastically. "Okay," Harry said, carefully choosing words. "It's very difficult to pretend that I'm going to school in front of Aunt Maggie..." "St. Bruce Safety Center Juvenile Delinquent School!" Uncle Vernon shouted, Harry heard from his voice that there was obvious panic and was very happy. "That's right," Harry said, calming
He looked at Uncle Vernon's big purple face, "It's too long, it's hard to remember. I always say it like that, right? What if I accidentally left my mouth?" "You want to suffer a little, right?" Uncle Vernon roared, raised his fist and walked towards Harry. But Harry stood there without moving. "If I suffer, Aunt Maggie will not forget what I might have told her." Harry said gloomyly. Uncle Vernon stopped, his fist was still in the air, and his face turned purple-brown.
"But if you sign my consent form," Harry said quickly, "I swear I will remember where I went to school, and I will speak and do things like a man."
Harry could see Uncle Vernon was thinking, even though his teeth were exposed, a blood vessel was pounding in his temple.
"Okay," he finally snapped, "When Maggie is there, I will monitor your behavior carefully. If, until the end, you follow the rules and keep saying that, I will sign your unlucky table."
He turned around, opened the front door, and closed it harder. He used so much force that a piece of glass fell off the top of the door.
Harry did not return to the kitchen. He went back to his bedroom upstairs. If he was to act like a real worldly person, it would be better to start now. He slowly and sadly collected all his gifts and birthday cards, and hid them together with his homework under the loose floor. Then he walked towards Hedwig's cage. Errol seemed to have recovered; it and Hedwig were asleep, their heads hidden under their wings. Harry sighed and stabbed them both to wake them up.
"Hedwig," he said in a slut, "you have to leave here for a week. Go with Errol, Ron will take care of you. I will write him a note and explain to him. Don't look at me like this," Hedwig's big amber eyes filled with condemnation. "It's not my fault. Only in this way can I get permission to go to Hogsmeade with Ron and Hermione."
Ten minutes later, Errol and Hedwig (with a note for Ron tied to his legs) flew out of the window. Flying out of sight. Harry felt completely sad now and took Hedwig's empty cage into his closet.
But Harry hadn't been pondering for a long time. After a while, Aunt Penny screamed from the stairs and asked Harry to go downstairs to prepare to greet the guests.
Harry thought it was meaningless to flatten her hair. Aunt Maggie liked to criticize Harry, so the more untidy Harry was, the happier she was.
In a moment, the creaking sound of a small stone came, which was the driveway in front of the door, followed by the sound of the car door closing, and the footsteps on the garden path.
"Go to the door!" Aunt Penny said to Harry as she screamed.
Harry reluctantly opened the door.
Aunt Maggie stood on the threshold. She looked very similar to Uncle Vernon: a big man, a sturdy purple face, and even a moustache, but not as heavy as Uncle Vernon. She was carrying a huge suitcase in one hand and a bad-tempered old trumpet dog Lipi under her armpit on the other side.
"Where is my Dudley?" exclaimed Aunt Maggie, "Where is my baby nephew?"
Dudley swayed and walked over from the hall, his blonde hair flat against his flat head, and a bow tie was faintly visible under his multi-layer chin. Aunt Maggie pushed the suitcase into Harry's arms, making him breathless. She hugged Dudley tightly with one hand, and kissed Dudley on the cheek.
Harry knew clearly that Dudley could tolerate Aunt Maggie's hugs entirely because he would be well paid. As expected, after the two separated, Dudley's fat fist was clutching a brand new twenty-pound bill.
"Penny!" cried Aunt Maggie, striding over Harry, as if Harry was just a hat rack. Aunt Maggie kissed Aunt Penny, or rather, Aunt Maggie's big chin hit Aunt Penny's thin cheekbones. Uncle Vernon is now in and looks very happy when closing the door. "Drink tea, Maggie?" he asked, "What should Lipi drink?" "Lipi drink a little from my teatory." Aunt Maggie said, so they entered the kitchen one after another, leaving Harry standing in the hall with his suitcase.
But Harry didn't complain; for him, any excuse to not be with Aunt Maggie was good, so he began to carry the box into the free room upstairs, trying to prolong the time he did it. By the time he returned to the kitchen, Aunt Maggie had already had tea and fruit cakes, while Lipi licked noisy in the corner.
Aunt Penny shrank when she saw the mottled tea stains and saliva on her clean floor, and Harry saw it. Aunt Penny hated the animals. "Who is taking care of the remaining dogs, Maggie?" asked Uncle Vernon. "Oh, my name is Colonel Fulbster to take care of them," Aunt Maggie said with a bright face. "He is retired now, and it is good for him to do something. I cannot live without the poor Lipi. If it is not with me, it will be thin."
Just as Harry sat down, Lipi began to bark. Aunt Maggie turned her attention to Harry for the first time.
"So!" Aunt Maggie said angrily, "You are still here, aren't you?" "Yes." Harry said. "Don't say 'yes' in such a ungrateful tone," Aunt Maggie roared. "Vernon and Penny took you in. They were really good enough. If I hadn't done it. If someone threw you at my gate, you would have gone to the orphanage directly."
Harry really wanted to say that he would rather stay in an orphanage than live with the Dursley family, but when he thought of the consent form, he held back and said nothing. He forced a painful smile on his face.
