I am the villain in the book
#596 - Very long testimonials
Volume Six is finished!
I was writing until past four o'clock last night, and finally finished the last chapter. When I turned my head, the sky outside was already faintly bright, so I gave up on the plan to write some afterword and went to take a nap.
Before writing Volume Six, I felt that this volume would be difficult to write.
Not in the literal sense of "difficult to write," but I felt that it would make many readers feel awkward.
In fact, the original outline was different from the content that is now written.
The original plan was for Volume Six to be the end of the "Fengning Internal Strife Arc," and Wei Changtian would enter a larger stage from there.
Of course, this main goal was definitely accomplished.
But frankly speaking, due to the reactions of many readers, the development of some characters actually deviated from the outline.
So, in the afterword, I will try to explain why I wrote it this way according to each character, and why some characters were changed.
First, Qin Zhengqiu.
Qin Zhengqiu's plot was not changed.
This character was foreshadowed in Volumes Four and Five, and completely transformed in Volume Six.
His relationship with Wei Changtian also changed from "superior and subordinate" to "neither enemy nor friend."
The main question about him may be why he wanted to kill Wei Changtian.
This point has actually been explained in the text.
Because Wei Changtian once told him in the story of "Meeting an Immortal in a Dream" that "only one person in this world can become an immortal."
Qin Zhengqiu was only a Second Rank before, so he didn't care about this matter.
And when the Moon Picking Sword appeared, although he found an opportunity to break through to the First Rank, he still didn't think about becoming an immortal.
It wasn't until Wei Changtian revealed the True Dragon Scale on his forehead that Qin Zhengqiu's desire for "immortality" was completely ignited.
Many things are like this.
If there is no hope at all, people are unlikely to have expectations.
But if there is even a glimmer of hope, then people may desperately pursue this glimmer of hope, even sacrificing everything.
Second, Chu Xianping.
If you want to find a reference...
It's probably Chu Xuan from "Infinite Terror," or Zhuge Liang.
Third, Ning Yongnian.
Ning Yongnian's plot was changed.
And it was a major change.
In the outline, he should have died in the next volume, or the volume after that, and the cause of death was also to actively sacrifice himself to resist the enemy.
In fact, I originally wanted to fully portray Ning Yongnian's treacherous image through such a major plot, so that the complexity of this important character would become more three-dimensional.
At the same time, it can also leave a side line for the upcoming great battle.
However, when writing about the Lingbo Pavilion negotiations, it may have been due to reading the comments, or it may have been due to the lack of a climax in the entire volume, so I temporarily let him die.
Of course, Wei Changtian was determined to kill him, this point will not change.
Now that I think about it, it's actually quite good to write it this way. After all, Ning Yongnian has been around for so long and hasn't died yet, I myself feel that it's a bit procrastinating.
It's just that, due to the length, the sublimation part of his character was not done particularly well in the end, which is a bit regrettable.
Fourth, Yang Liushi.
There's nothing to say about this. The increase in Yang Liushi's role in Volume Six is to lay the groundwork for her future plot.
I said before that each character has a complete story line, and Xiao Yang is the focus next.
Fifth, Xu Sui.
Regarding the character of Xu Sui...
To be honest, before writing, I really didn't expect her to be so annoying.
In fact, in Volume Five, I used a lot of space to write about her daily interactions with Wei Changtian. I originally wanted to improve her favorability.
But since her series of "riddler" operations, her popularity has plummeted, and all the comments are scolding her.
I even specifically posted a single chapter to explain.
First of all, Xu Sui's plot has not been changed, and cannot be changed.
She has a great influence on the subsequent plot. If it is changed, then the outline will probably have to be redone.
Secondly, I now understand why everyone hates Xu Sui so much.
The key point may not be on this "character," but that I made a writing technique error, or a plot design error.
For online novels, especially refreshing novels, the core of all "refreshing points" is "information gap."
To put it bluntly, it is the difference in information mastered by the protagonist and the supporting characters.
I am already very awesome, but you don't know.
I can recite ancient poems from my previous life, but you think I am illiterate.
I am a hidden rich second generation, but my girlfriend thinks I am poor.
I am actually the boss behind the company, but my boss only treats me as an ordinary social animal...
It is because of these information gaps that readers want to see the moment when the protagonist uses these information gaps to pretend to be coercive.
The common saying is "sense of anticipation."
Wei Changtian's previous information gap was full until Xu Sui appeared.
As soon as this character appeared, Wei Changtian became the weaker party at both ends of the information gap.
Xu Sui knows what he is going to do, and even knows his personality and thoughts.
This will undoubtedly make people very unhappy.
After all, most people definitely substitute themselves into the protagonist when reading novels.
And after figuring this out, I am even more determined not to change the outline.
Because what Wei Changtian did in the game with Xu Sui was to break the information gap and make the situation develop in a completely uncontrollable direction.
And until now, Xu Sui's information advantage has basically ceased to exist.
In other words, in the future plot, she is actually an important character who also has a system plug-in and has similar but not completely the same goals as Wei Changtian.
Sixth, Li Wutong.
I actually changed Li Wutong's plot a little bit.
Unlike Xu Sui, I knew when I wrote about her leaving Fengyuan that she would definitely be very unpopular in the future.
But I still want to say a few words for her.
In fact, she is not stupid.
All her motives are for "Da Feng," the Da Feng in name.
The importance of preserving Da Feng exceeds that of Wei Changtian.
That's why she made a series of decisions that seem very stupid.
How should I put it?
Standing from God's perspective, whether it is Wei Changtian, Li Qi, or even any other person, they all see the situation of Fengning and the two countries more clearly than her.
But this actually means that in the hearts of other people, the country of "Da Feng" is not the most important.
Wei Changtian doesn't need to be said, he actually doesn't care much about whether Da Feng perishes or not.
What Li Qi really values is not the "Da Feng" in name, but the dignity of the country.
Only Li Wutong wants to do everything possible to avoid the demise of Da Feng.
Therefore, she almost gave up everything she could give up.
I have read the comments from all the readers.
Some people think she is hopeless, some people think she is a useless person, some people think she is extremely stupid, and some people think it is better to just write her to death.
In fact, I really thought about whether to write her to death.
But after thinking about it, I decided to forget it.
I even changed her ending to be better than originally planned.
I am referring to the fact that Wei Changtian finally allowed Li Qi to restore Da Feng in Jianchang Prefecture.
Although it is only the land of one prefecture, Da Feng did not perish in name after all, which can be regarded as the last thing he did for Li Wutong.
As for Li Wutong's ambition to "save one person for every person he has ever killed," it actually represents Li Wutong's transformation after experiencing so many things.
In short, Li Wutong's plot ends here.
Even if she appears again in the future, it should be in the finale.
The above is an explanation of several important characters in Volume Six.
Long online novels actually have a common problem.
In order to promote the plot, there must be new characters appearing constantly.
But in order to take care of the emotions of the readers, positive characters rarely exit the stage.
This leads to more and more characters being written, and in the end, most of them end up without a conclusion, and even the author forgets that there is such a person.
I don't like this kind of writing very much, but it is impossible to give too much space to everyone.
Just like a book friend said —
"Wei Changtian's wife says a word, and a chapter is over."
In that case, someone must exit the stage.
Compared to slowly fading away until I and the readers forget, I would rather give everyone an ending.
You Jia's ending can be considered sad.
Li Wutong's ending can be considered happy.
And like the previous Xiao Feng, Old Zhangtou, Ning Yongnian and other important characters, as well as Wu Ding, Bai Youheng and other supporting characters, and even Wang Qian, Yun Lian and other characters who are too small to be small.
Everyone has played an important role in a certain period or certain plots, and then will go to the end in a "non-watery" and reasonable way at a certain moment in the future.
I think it's pretty good, and I will continue to write like this in the future.
Alright.
After talking so much, I see that it is already three thousand words.
So the purpose of this afterword can finally be revealed!
Very obvious! I want to take a day off!
Updates will resume tomorrow!
Finally, as usual, I wish everyone good luck and good health!!
