I am stupid. I can't think when it comes to innocent children. Why was it?

"Let's keep it."

Why?! Why did I say that without even thinking?! Monsters can't live with humans!

I didn't think of it deeply and just made a declaration without using my brain!

"Let's leave it," I said, dumbfounding Ellena.

"But you just said we'd keep it," she said, with disdain in her tone.

I take back what I said. But it seems like it's too late. Ellena was influenced by my initial thoughts.

I was charmed by the baby!

Ellena slightly tried to pick up the baby, but along the way, the baby growled at her.

It was baffling. It can already react and perceive things? That was fast! How could this happen?

Oh... right. The village chief said this monster's children can grow fastly.

So what he was saying was right. And right now, I am witnessing it.

"Did she just growl at me?" she asked, baffled by what had just happened.

I just scoffed at her in between my words. "Perhaps the kid doesn't like you, Ellena."

She just glared at me with a pout. I couldn't help but chuckle. She's also acting cute right now.

After some seconds, I looked again at the baby. I wonder... how can we keep this kid?

"I already said that, let's leave it." But again, she darted me with daggering eyes.

I raised my hands as a joke, then laughed.

"Sorry. But we are at the end of these thoughts. How can we bring that kid if it's even hostile towards you?"

"Maybe it felt I was the one who killed its mother."

That's reasonable. Monsters, rather, animals, also have that instinct. But not all of them, actually.

I should just call this kid an animal. If I call this a monster, it will remind me of a fiend that only kills humans.

Nevertheless, I again entertained the thought of bringing the kid.

"Sighs... why don't you look into why it was growling at me?"

The kid was just glaring and growling at Ellena, but it didn't dare to attack her. At least, it was feeling some fear.

The kid was still covered with blood, and as I slowly approached, it became at peace.

My eyes widened. What happened?

I can't build up the words to say. This kid was unhostile towards me. And surprisingly, it felt me!

Ellena looked at me with surprised eyes. We're both actually.

"Did it just felt you?" she asked.

I slowly nodded as I realized it really sensed me.

How could I know it? When I approached the kid, it became peaceful. It's a sign! There are no words to describe it.

And even coincidence would not suffice. It's a big coincidence if it is.

"The kid felt me. Maybe this is a sign that I'm starting to have a presence." I mumbled.

Actually, I made up a theory. Since the day that I discovered I could unlock different types of systems, I felt like it was a sign of having a body.

It even linked up with Verxal, but in the end, that might be an effect of his ability.

Furthermore, my theory links with Ellena's growth. After getting to level three, a system opened in me. It was the Kind's Root that was also the same as the Pixie Root that I have.

It just made things messy, but slightly, I can understand my theory. It's actually vague, but still, the conclusion is that I can feel I am starting to have a presence.

Is this a sign that I will eventually regain a physical body?

I looked at the kid who was walking in my direction and stopped at my position. The kid was below me and was looking at me with big teary eyes.

It was small, the size of a huggable stuff toy. Perhaps a foot and a half.

"Gwoooh!"

It was still looking at me and even anticipating something. Was it waiting for my affection?

I am hesitant. I'm apprehensive about what I'll discover after this.

Should I pet this kid?

It was still waiting for me.

"Hey! Aaron, the baby was waiting."

Right. I should not think of it for a while.

I slowly descended and put my palm onto its forehead.

I wonder if it's a male or a female.

I smiled. The kid was pleased and closed its eyes as I brushed my small hand against its wet fur.

The kid rolled down and presented its tummy to me.

It was expecting me to caress its tummy.

But before I could do so, a blue light blinded me. It's familiar to me. The same as I was drowned when I got another system.

I am getting another system!

It was really a system! I am unlocking another soul system! And what is it? Was it connected with me touching the kid?

It's possible. Maybe the system can be unlocked in a random way or something of a pattern or a condition. And not only by strengthening Ellena!

I gasped and looked around. I rather wanted to examine what happened!

I looked at the kid but I did not see what it was.

I heard Ellena. She was calling me and as an instinct, I looked at her.

"What's wrong, Ellena..."

I hung up as she was also hanging up. Her face wasn't facing me, but instead, it was looking at a gigantic figure before her; just like it had been behind me earlier.

It was the same figure as a broaxen, but at peace and cute.

Where did this come from?

"Where was it from?" I asked.

Ellena looked at me with a surprised face and slowly pronounced the words.

"That was the baby earlier..."

"What?! That's an absurdly fast growth!"

Wait... maybe this was something from my promotion and the system. I have a hint from this. It's tingling inside me.

"Opened System," I called out for the window that showed the systems I had unlocked.
