#12 - 12. Trial (seeking support)

Chapter 12: 12. Judgment (Seeking Support)

Seventh floor hallway.

Ma En was on his way to Lu Yide's room.

He had spent less than ten hours in the isolation area before being sent back to the VIP ward, as if the whole thing had never happened, and not even the police had come to the hospital to investigate.

When he stopped Liu Yujun, he had been hoping to hear a plan that would allow him to kill his second personality alone, but the answer he received was that there was no such method at all.

"Ma En," a hoarse female voice sounded behind him, "Just keep walking."

It was the slender woman who had found him in the first place who spoke, and Ma En still didn't know her name or identity, the one who introduced him to Li Fen.

"You're going to see Lu Yide?" she asked with displeasure, "After he just shot at you?"

"Yes," he replied, "I feel it's necessary to see that boy, and it wasn't him who pulled the trigger, but the devil living in his heart."

The woman sneered:

"How kind, but you're already sinking into the mire yourself, and you still have the mind to consider others, and haven't you forgotten something?"

"What?" Ma En asked back.

"You still have to help us get Doctor Li's notes, your little life isn't your own anymore," she said matter-of-factly.

Ma En stopped.

He turned to face the slender woman, looking at her with a puzzled expression:

"What are you talking about?

"Aren't I helping you, why do you speak as if I can be ordered around by you at will."

She hadn't expected to hear such a reply, didn't Ma En want to live?

But she quickly responded.

"Li Fen did say that," she looked at Ma En with a contemptuous expression, "But I don't like her way of doing things, if I had the power to choose, you would have been trembling in front of me long ago."

Ma En looked straight into her eyes and said:

"Yes, I do want to live, and you've also proven that you're not ordinary people.

"But if you really had the power to decide, I would have walked into Xu Wen's office long ago and told him that two lunatics wanted me to steal something.

"And, if I don't go to Lu Yide, can you stop him from causing me trouble?"

She didn't answer immediately.

If the employees of the action department were here, she might be able to do it, but they were all blocked outside the Victor Sanatorium.

And if that were really the case, there would be no need for her to use Ma En.

"What can you do by going?" Li Fen asked, "Could it be that you can convince him to stop hurting you?"

"I'll reason with him," Ma En said, then ignored her, and turned back to head in the original direction.

Li Fen looked at him with a suspicious expression, wanting to follow and stop Ma En, but his stopping to talk to her just now had already attracted unnecessary attention, so she could only give up.

Knock, knock.

"Who is it?" a guarded voice came from inside the door.

Ma En said calmly:

"It's me."

Silence.

Click.

Lu Yide cautiously opened the door, looking at the man standing in front of the door in disbelief, then lowered his head:

"I'm sorry, Ma En..."

He showed a gentle smile:

"It's okay, let's go inside and talk."

He nodded heavily, and quickly made way for Ma En.

This room was not only much more spacious than Ma En's, but also had the best display screen on the market hanging on the wall, wooden bookshelves and a long table that looked expensive, and a beautiful deerskin carpet at the entrance.

Lu Yide walked to the icebox on the table:

"Would you like something to drink?"

"No need," Ma En sat down casually.

He noticed a black handgun lying quietly next to the icebox.

The boy turned around, leaning against the table, standing there helplessly, nervously holding the canned drink in his hand.

Lu Yide said with a guilty expression:

"Mr. Ma En, I'm really sorry for what he did to you, and I'm also aware that this is also my responsibility, if I had received a just trial, this kind of thing would not have had a chance to happen.

"I also know that no matter what, I can't make up for the harm you almost suffered, but if you need anything, you can tell me, and I will do my best to satisfy it."

The boy's tone was very sincere.

"It's not your fault," Ma En said, "And I think you're right, this devil must be judged, and I want to tell you something."

The boy looked at him with pure eyes.

"There's no way," Ma En shook his head with a look of regret, "I asked all the doctors, Liu Yujun lied to you, there's no way to erase the second personality at all."

Lu Yide showed a surprised expression, then he realized what Ma En wanted to say.

"That is to say..." the boy's voice even trembled, "Staying here is of no use at all, my father lied to me!"

Ma En looked at him calmly:

"What do you think?"

Lu Yide said:

"I'm willing to give my life to avenge her, but my father will definitely stop me."

Ma En turned his head to look at the handgun on the table:

"In my opinion, you have other options."

The boy followed Ma En's gaze and looked over, falling into a brief silence.

But he quickly shook his head and retreated backward, falling onto his bed, lowering his head with a painful expression:

"No, if I die like this, my dad will definitely not pay the compensation."

Ma En asked:

"What do you mean?"

Lu Yide took a deep breath and explained:

"You may not understand my father, if I really commit suicide during my hospitalization, he will definitely refuse to pay them compensation, his lawyer has plenty of ways.

"No wonder, he hasn't given the money yet, it turns out he already expected me to think this way..."

The boy looked at him with a lost expression and said:

"Xiao Ni's parents need the money, her family is not wealthy."

Ma En opened his mouth and said:

"If you're really determined, I can pay this compensation for you."

The boy showed a stunned expression:

"What?"

"I have money," Ma En nodded, casually took out the bank card from his pocket, "There are 30 million in this card, I will give it all to your girlfriend's parents."

While speaking, he was still observing Lu Yide's expression.

The boy blinked, then shook his head:

"No, if you do this, my father will definitely retaliate against you, I can't implicate others."

Ma En stared into his eyes and said:

"I don't mind."

The boy showed a rejecting expression:

"I can't do this, but I will try to persuade my father, at least to transfer me to prison."

Interesting.

Lu Yide always said that he wanted to avenge that girl, but when he directed the topic in this direction, he listed one reason after another.

Maybe he doesn't actually have as much courage as he claims, or...
