I created the Bureau of Anomaly Control
#153 - 151. Professional Team
"Are you ready?" Mann asked, looking at the two ability users in the containment room.
Gerek was a well-dressed man, his ability was the Tier Ⅲ Solid Metal Manipulation. He used to be a rather vicious fugitive. Years ago, his subordinates even had a mercenary squad of ability users, specializing in handling various abnormal events and ordinary ability users for the wealthy.
Behind him, Ladi was wearing a white vest. His whole body was covered with strong muscles. His ability was to transform into a non-human monster good at close combat. He first appeared in the South Federation's ability user's field of vision because of attacks and cannibalism. The Coordination Bureau once tried to search for and kill him, but Gerek found him before that.
Their squad encountered other members of the Salvation Alliance while working two years ago and was completely shattered. It is said that only three ability users survived by chance, and no one has heard from them since.
When Shen Zhihe found Gerek, he and Ladi were recruiting other ability users in Gowin State, wanting to reorganize a small organization to provide services to the government and wealthy people.
Gerek asked quite calmly:
"After completing the exploration, can I get my ability back?"
Gerek didn't show the fear and worry of the previous Level 0 employee, as if what he was talking about was not the abnormal ability that led to his life's encounters, but some daily necessities that could be bought in the supermarket at will.
The strong man standing behind him also looked very calm.
Mann replied:
"You are not irreplaceable precious items. You should have read the Level 0 Employee Handbook. It mentions your status and work content in detail.
"Execute it."
Gerek nodded obediently, as if accepting Mann's order.
But he was only submitting on the surface.
Gerek had enough patience and wouldn't be stupid enough to expose his thoughts to the enemy. Although he seemed to have bad luck, this special technology also proved that there must be something valuable hidden in this organization.
He was the kind of person who could still see opportunities even in dangerous situations.
Gerek withdrew his gaze, picked up the equipment beside him, and then nodded respectfully to Mann:
"We are ready."
A door appeared in the containment room.
Gerek walked into it with firm steps, and Ladi also followed closely behind him half a meter away.
The two Level 0 employees walked into the Witt Castle, and they walked down the stairs without any hesitation.
Gerek never considered running away. In his eyes, only fools who couldn't see reality would have any侥幸. In this situation, he could be in pain or sadness, but these few days were enough for him to rekindle his fighting spirit.
He was particularly good at "looking forward".
Mann watched them silently walk into the portal. They advanced in it at a steady speed like soldiers, only taking a short ten-minute rest in the middle, and it took them less than two hours to leave the complex cave.
"Report, we have reached location number one," Gerek said in the tone he used when performing tasks before. "We are continuing to advance towards the target and have not encountered any creatures yet."
After speaking, Gerek took out his regained equipment, a simple metal "exoskeleton", which had no mechanical structure in it, only allowing him to float in the air to move, but it was also equipped with several specially customized weapons.
After leaving the cave, Ladi also transformed into a monster nearly three meters tall. His whole body was covered with a white bone shell, and his originally strong arms turned into a pair of hideous giant sword blades.
They began to advance along the path of the last exploration and slowed down the speed of the team. This was because the report Mann gave them mentioned that this journey might encounter attacks, so he needed to keep the team members focused.
"Report, we are under attack," Gerek's deep voice came into their office, and then Mann saw the scene in front of him begin to retreat at an increasing speed. Something fell heavily behind him, and then there was an immediate impact sound.
Ladi saw with his own eyes that the black feline leaped over his head like a ghost, accurately pouncing on the position where Gerek was standing, but the vigilant Gerek had already moved to a safe position before it landed.
Ladi charged towards the big cat like a rhinoceros. Just as this proud predator was unhurriedly preparing to dodge, it was surprised to find that its body had suddenly become unprecedentedly heavy.
Boom!
The bone blade slammed into the big cat's shoulders, causing it to scream in pain, but as the black big cat was forced to run away by the pain, its highly mechanized limbs scratched towards Ladi on their own.
Seeing this, Ladi stretched his arms forward. This feline, which was slightly stronger than an adult tiger, could only slap the air in front of the bone monster like a playful kitten.
Crack.
Several metal claws left its forepaws at a speed difficult to capture with the naked eye, and then vibrated at high speed, drilling into the bone shell on its chest that could resist bullets, and flew out of Ladi's back.
However, the claws were not stained with any human blood, and Ladi didn't seem to hesitate in his movements because of this.
The black big cat's two pairs of forepaws had regrown "claws", but before it followed its instinct to launch a second attack, several sharp metal short guns made of metal cut through the air and rushed towards it.
The big cat tried to jump high, but it was surprised to find that it was difficult to control its body in the air. The short guns that it had dodged also adjusted their angles at this time and rushed towards the flesh and blood parts of its body.
Puchi.
The white bone blade pierced into its neck, and at the same time, the metal short guns tore apart the connection between the flesh and blood and mechanical parts of the black big cat like a storm, stirring its mechanical limbs on the ground.
The scattered mechanical limbs were still trying to scratch the surrounding things, but when Ladi cut off the big cat's head with the bone blade, they slowly stopped moving.
Victory.
This result was expected. Gerek and Ladi were both experienced Tier Ⅲ ability users who were good at fighting, and they were among the best in their tier. In their original squad, these two were also the best at fighting—this was the reason they survived.
"Collect the corpses according to the manual, and then continue to move forward," Mann's voice reached their ears.
Gerek and Ladi looked at each other, neatly threw the corpse into the kind of place they used to live in, and then continued to move forward along the road non-stop.
What surprised them was that no more monsters appeared, and there were no traces of other creatures moving. What finally came into their eyes was a silent city wall.
And the town behind it.
Thank you to Grandpa Zhang here and 锁ta for the 10,000 starting coins reward (finally remembered)
