I created the Bureau of Anomaly Control
#512 - 503. The Captured Man
Ilo was the captain of the Evernight Forest patrol and the seventh child of the Ninth City's chief strategist, which was why he was able to hold this position—he had inherited his father's excellent genes and skills.
Being the captain of the Evernight Forest patrol was an extremely relaxed job, and living here allowed him to see the true beauty of the forest every night. His genes for appreciating nature also meant that he never tired of the scenery, which truly nurtured his mind and laid a good foundation for him to pursue artistic endeavors in the future.
If there was any problem, it was that he never saw any living people other than his team members. He could only return to the city for a few days every three months to rest, which sometimes made him feel a bit bored.
Fortunately, the regulator in his body could effectively reduce fatigue and irritability, and increase the stimulation of natural scenery, allowing him to spend this long period of time in relative comfort and pleasure.
But he thought he would have to live such a bland life for more than a decade, but he never expected that there would really be a time when the patrol team needed to work. In recent years, the relationship between Ninth City and other cities has been relatively mild, and Evernight Forest is not a strategic stronghold, so how could there suddenly be intruders?
However, the patrol system could not be wrong, so Ilo did not think deeply and went directly to the location where the intruder was detected at a speed no less than that of any patrol creature.
When he arrived at his destination, the other training team members were already in position. They exchanged glances with their superiors, but their eyes were immediately drawn to the scene before them.
In the open space in front, there were more than a dozen Swift Tigers surrounding the area, ready to engage in a fight at any time, and seven or eight Cold Pythons were blocking off the area. Several groups of Bee Beasts were constantly moving in the air according to a certain pattern, quietly invading the space that had already been blocked off, and lurking around these creatures were more than a dozen Shadow Panthers.
The patrol team's deputy captain walked to Ilo's side:
"I've been here for seventy years and have never seen such a sight. The relationship between the Nine Kings and the rulers of other cities is particularly harmonious. No one should be invading Evernight Forest."
Ilo looked at the hard-working training beasts and said:
"Don't worry, the other party has been locked down by the training beasts, so there won't be any danger. It may be a member of a secluded settlement who has strayed into our territory."
As he spoke, the blocked space in front of them was rapidly "decomposing", revealing various micro-dimensions. Then the Bee Beasts seemed to have found something and became excited, and began to shift the constantly flashing space cracks towards a specific dimension.
Then, a figure staggered into the open space in front of them.
Ilo turned to look at his deputy and smiled at him:
"Don't worry, we'll just watch from here."
As he spoke, the dozen or so impatient Swift Tigers instantly pounced on the humanoid creature that had just appeared in the open space, trying to tear him into pieces of flesh and blood.
But the man did not immediately surrender. He raised his hand and used some kind of telekinetic power to push the Swift Tigers running in the front more than ten meters away, and directly floated into the air, trying to avoid these beasts.
But he had obviously forgotten that these creatures that looked like tigers also had bat-like wings. All the Swift Tigers that had not been pushed away adjusted their wings to the appropriate angle. Then these structures that looked like wings produced extremely complex vibrations, operating like some kind of biological thruster.
With a light jump, these beasts flew directly in the low air at high speed and lightly, like sharks in the water, strangling towards their prey. Seeing this scene, the man seemed to be highly nervous and began to use telekinetic power to try to inflict damage that could stop their actions on these beasts at the same time.
And the result of him doing this was that serious-looking wounds appeared on these beasts one after another, to be precise, very serious for ordinary animals, but this did not slow them down.
Seeing this, the man could only frantically twist and turn in the air, dodging the rushing beasts in a mess, but facing these beasts alone, he could not completely dodge them.
Finally, a Swift Tiger seized the opportunity and scratched his body fiercely, but the man was only knocked back for more than ten seconds, and there were no wounds on his body.
And he was still stubbornly dodging, adapting to the attack rhythm of these beasts. It seemed that if this continued, he might really have a chance to survive the siege of these Swift Tigers...
But at a certain moment when the man approached the low air, he suddenly fell to the ground as if he had been hit by an invisible heavy blow. Then several gray panthers appeared in the air around him, and they all used their flexible and strong tails to entangle the different limbs of the man's body. One of them even grabbed his neck with its tail.
Just before this Shadow Panther was about to strangle the man to death, Ilo finally smiled at the deputy beside him and said:
"See, what did I tell you?"
Then, he also raised his leg and walked towards the subdued intruder, while connecting these inherently cruel beasts through the mechanical device built into his skull, forcibly stopping them from teasing their prey.
When he walked in front of the intruder, he noticed that although he was subdued, the Shadow Panther's playful behavior had only left a few shallow marks on him and had not yet threatened his life.
There was a bit of surprise in Ilo's eyes. He didn't expect this intruder to be so resistant to beatings. In fact, the skills he had just displayed were quite good. If he didn't seem to not know much about Swift Tigers and Shadow Panthers, he might have to deal with this guy himself.
But he had no interest in "admiring" an intruder, but just condescendingly looked down at the man on the ground:
"Speak, who sent you as a spy?"
The man opened his mouth with difficulty, but couldn't say anything.
Seeing this, Ilo waved his hand and told the Shadow Panther that was binding his neck to loosen its strong tail.
"Huff..." After his neck was released, the man immediately gasped for air.
Ilo impatiently raised his leg and kicked the lying man:
"Stop acting, I'll break your legs if you don't talk."
Hearing this, the man stopped with some difficulty, and then said with obvious hesitation and struggle:
"I'm not a spy!"
Ilo snorted coldly, and then showed a cruel smile:
"It seems you haven't heard of the Ninth City's interrogation measures."
Hearing this, the man shook his head repeatedly and explained in panic:
"I really am not, I don't even know how I got in..."
In fact, Ilo knew that what the man said might be true, but he couldn't have a good face for potential spies, but just as he wanted to continue mocking a few words...
Some kind of movement that he was somewhat unfamiliar with came from behind him.
