Chapter 28: Enlightenment

In the evening, the setting sun resembled wine, intoxicating the distant evening glow on the horizon with a touch of deep crimson.

The distant mountains and nearby forests appeared somewhat hazy under the golden light of the setting sun, as if they had become a landscape painting with a golden background.

Occasionally, black dots would move through the golden painting, and in this tranquil dusk, there came the unstoppable clear and long chirping.

Inside a courtyard at Cloud Sun Peak, the green willows danced with the wind, cutting the evening light into pieces and covering the ground.

And Lin Chen lay leisurely on a wooden chair under the willow, gently blowing away the white mist rising from the teacup, and slowly sipping a cup of fragrant spiritual tea.

After dealing with the issues in the laboratory, Lin Chen put aside his research and enjoyed two leisurely days.

Unlike those cultivators who practiced diligently all day long, Lin Chen always believed in working when it was time to work and enjoying when it was time to enjoy. This was what was known as the way of both literature and martial arts, a balance between work and leisure.

Lin Chen never approved of inefficient efforts.

In his opinion, many people were busy and worked hard all day long, but achieved very little and did not obtain good results. Ultimately, it was because they had not found their own life direction.

Coupled with the dissatisfaction of seeing peers living well while their own strength did not match their desires, they would be anxious and worried all day long, and then continue to work hard, continuing this vicious cycle.

But Lin Chen was different.

For him, after experiencing reincarnation, boundless darkness, and being reborn as a human for the second time, he was not interested in the rights and powers that others were passionate about, or even most things in this world. They were all insignificant to him.

The only thing he cared about was how spiritual energy formed the world, how cultivators used spiritual energy to evolve their own life essence, and the knowledge of how spiritual energy formed all things.

In simple terms, what he truly cared about was the infinite mysteries hidden within spiritual energy.

And because he had goals, direction, and pursuits, he did not care about anything else, so he did not feel anxious or lost. Therefore, his every move naturally followed a set pattern and proceeded in an orderly manner.

Lin Chen stretched lazily, flexed his muscles, and then took out a notebook.

This was a summary of his research on spiritual energy.

"The previous research has already proven that spiritual energy exists in levels. If I combine it with my previous research, I can summarize the following three laws regarding spiritual energy."

Lin Chen opened the notebook and wrote:

[Spiritual Energy Laws]

1. [All things are composed of spiritual energy.]

2. [Spiritual energy can transform all things.]

3. [Spiritual energy possesses activity, levels, and self-information.]

Compared to the previous complexity, the laws summarized by Lin Chen now were much simpler and clearer.

After all, he always believed that laws, like the unified formula in mathematical conjectures, should be simple and clear, yet able to explain the mysteries of the universe.

And these three simple sentences were his scientific research achievements in this world.

"If we consider all of the above, then I should have a basic conjecture about the birth of this world."

Lin Chen stroked his chin, lost in thought.

"The original spiritual energy created the foundation of the world, and as time passed, the levels of spiritual energy gradually declined, transitioning from activity to inertia, and finally giving birth to all things..."

Lin Chen's eyes gradually brightened as he pondered. He gently opened his palm, and the True Qi within his body continuously transformed in the center of his hand.

First, the heavens and earth opened, chaos like an egg. Then, black and white were born, forming the Yin and Yang. They dissipated and transformed into the Five Elements, followed by the radiance of the sun, moon, and stars. The earth and ocean appeared one after another, the seasons cycled, day and night alternated, and all things came into being...

Finally, in the palm of Lin Chen's hand, a vast and brilliant world formed!

"So that's how it is." Lin Chen looked at this scene, his eyes clear and bright, somewhat absent-minded. "The change of spiritual energy on the level and its transformation within oneself ultimately forms a world. This is the Dao of this world..."

In Lin Chen's view, the so-called Great Dao, whether in his past life or present life, was not those mysterious laws and artistic conceptions, but the rules of the universe and the mysteries of the world's evolution!

"Moreover, cultivators continuously control high-level spiritual energy through the characteristics of spiritual energy, thus achieving transcendence... Observing nature, understanding nature, and mastering nature. Even in different universes, different worlds, and even different civilizations, will they eventually take this step..."

A touch of emotion suddenly arose in Lin Chen's heart.

Because he recalled the human civilization of his past life, the passing of thousands of years. From the primitive humans who lived off the land to the modern civilization that explored the stars, what did they rely on? Wasn't it countless wise saints who studied the heavens and the earth, sought the truth, observed nature, understood nature, and mastered nature, in order to obtain all of this?

And looking back at this life, weren't ancient cultivators also exploring the mysteries of spiritual energy with great determination and resolve, using themselves as experiments, ultimately establishing the vast Immortal Physique?

Therefore, whether in the past or present, whether it's particles or spiritual energy, it turns out that every civilization ultimately follows the same path: observing it, understanding it, and ultimately mastering it!

Therefore, the three thousand Great Dao, no matter how they change, all lead to the same destination!

Lin Chen's heart surged, and he couldn't help but stand up.

Because he discovered that on the dark path of seeking truth, he was never alone. Whether in his past life or present life, he still had countless fellow travelers walking alongside him!

Lin Chen reached out his hand and grabbed into the void. At this moment, he seemed to have grasped the solidified time of a hazy afternoon, and seemed to have grasped the long years of the past and present. He seemed to see countless figures standing in front of him, and countless voices echoed in his ears:

"The Dao that can be spoken is not the eternal Dao; the name that can be named is not the eternal name. The nameless is the beginning of heaven and earth; the named is the mother of all things. Therefore, always be without desire, in order to observe its subtlety; always have desire, in order to observe its manifestations. These two are the same in origin but different in name; together they are called profound, the profoundest of the profound, the gateway to all wonders..."

"In the beginning of ancient times, who transmitted the Dao? Before the formation of the upper and lower realms, how can it be examined?"

"Like the rotation of the sun and moon, illuminating the four corners of the world. Similarly, in a thousand worlds, there are a thousand suns and moons, a thousand Mount Sumeru kings, and four thousand realms..."

"Observe the Dao of heaven, grasp the actions of heaven, and that is all."

"In the beginning, there was the Dao, and the Dao was with God, and the Dao was God."

"1 + 1 = 2!"

Countless voices, large and small, old and young, spoke in unison, expressing their understanding of the essence of the world in different languages.

And now, among these countless voices, one belonging to Lin Chen was about to be added, because he would use his scientific thinking to interpret the world of spiritual energy in this realm!

...

After an unknown amount of time, Lin Chen finally came back to his senses. The fiery sunset glow on the horizon had faded away, revealing a deep and beautiful blue night sky.

"In the fairyland of the heavenly garden, studying all methods, seeking the Dao without end."

Standing on the eaves, looking at the boundless mountains and fields under the night sky, Lin Chen softly recited, his gaze becoming even more determined in the evening breeze.

In his past life, he had been mediocre, flowing with the masses, blending in with the crowd. But in this life, he was able to embark on the path of immortality, with the hope of longevity. How could he hesitate and not move forward?

Lin Chen vowed that one day, he would experience all the scenery in this world, explore all the mysteries of the unknown, and ultimately pursue his own path!

For this, even if he had to endure countless hardships and descend into the depths of darkness!
