I Hate Systems
671 In My Past (Part 36)
"Brat, how many times did I warn you from reading that?" Gilthru glared in anger, "It's something created by our mortal enemy!"
"Are you sure about that, master?" Arnark tilted his head in confusion, "These stories are so awesome. How can someone that writes such great stories be evil?"
At his words, Gilthru was pissed. He raised his hand and pointed above the book, "Are you telling me you cannot see this Mental Energy stream?"
"I can see it, of course." Arnark nodded, "But, what's the harm in that? You're just being paranoid as usual, master."
"It seems I should teach you a lesson," Gilthru stated in anger as he raised his hand, intending to smack some sense into Arnark.
"Stop!" Arnark said all of a sudden as his voice carried with it a solemn nature, causing the mana within Gilthru to be sealed. With his bindings come undone, Arnark grinned as lightning covered his body, causing him to flicker to the foot of the hill before he vanished, "I'll be running away for a month this time, master."
"Arnark!" Gilthru could only shout as even his Relic wasn't able to function. Only after a minute was he able to circulate his mana, sighing in response, "His power has become stronger."
He then muttered, "The Main Character System, huh."
Grrr!
"Keuk!" Gilthru flinched in response, feeling like he had been electrocuted mildly, noticing his hands trembling in response. The sensation vanished after a second as he was worried, staring at the sky to see Mental Energy streams emerge from all over the place and flow into the clouds.
"What the heck are you planning now, Zaira?"
His figure vanished, appearing in a nearby city to see the common populace buying 'The Disastrous Life of Farma' in excitement as lots of people read it. Those that didn't know how to read and write formed a group and listened to an orator read the book aloud.
As they listened to the story, their thoughts regarding it generated Mental Energy that flowed out of their heads and into the book that shone with starlight. None were aware of this starlight gathering within the book.
After some time had passed, when enough quantity had been gathered, the starlight gushed out of the book and flowed into the sky, gathering into the clouds.
Tens…hundreds…thousands…anywhere he looked, Gilthru spotted a Mental Energy stream trailing towards the sky. And, they seemed to be gathering there to create something mystical, beginning to form a barrier of sorts.
Gilthru focused on this barrier, staring at the squirming faces of tens of thousands of people, the sources that had generated the respective Mental Energy. The faces seemed to be speaking, listening, expressing a variety of expressions, etc.
He shuddered, massaging his forehead, "And this brat dares to say they're harmless?"
Arnark was able to see Mental Energy from birth. And, the thoughts of anyone directed at him created Mental Energy that flowed into him. Due to that, he had his own thoughts regarding this matter, from the moment he had enough cognitive function, his attitude never being influenced by anyone.
Gilthru had been trying his best all the time, but no matter what he did, Arnark never listened to him, only resulting in endless arguments.
And worst of all, Arnark seemed to possess a special ability, one that could result Gilthru helpless.
When he worked on reviving Arnark, a mysterious power flowed into him, a part of the power that originally belonged to Arnark. And, this power formed a close relationship between him and his Relic. Or rather, it could be said that the Relic was his core, his true self while his body was just the husk he lived within.
And, Arnark's power sealed his core, turning him helpless. This was why he failed to control Arnark, feeling frustrated as a result recently.
"It has been ten years since then, but nothing changed. The Demon Race is still waging a war against all of us while Zaira is continuing to grow in strength." He sighed, disappointed with himself.
"Did Arnark escape once again?" A voice resounded in his ear suddenly as Gilthru exhaled in response.
Gilthru stared at a butterfly that landed on his shoulder, sighing as he said, "Can you follow him and keep him safe, Lorbordo?"
"Yeah, you needn't worry." The butterfly said before taking off to the sky, "That's the least I could do to honour our fallen comrades."
"Thank you." Gilthru nodded, relieved as he began to make his way to their home.
Currently, they were living an isolated life, taking up a home on a secluded hill a short distance away from a human city. With the power he obtained from Khun thanks to his Relic, Gilthru harnessed the power of Dragons, of a Divinity Incarnate to establish himself as the Lord of the Hill.
With that, he ensured Arnark could grow up safe and not be discovered by their enemies. After all, Arnark possessed part of Zaira's powers, for he had been created using her body.
The same was true for Gilthru too, for he was able to do things similar to Zaira, only that the scale was too tiny.
By condensing the thoughts incident on him, Gilthru was capable of creating a System, something even Arnark wasn't capable of. This was thanks to his Relic that had absorbed that part of powers from Zaira's corpse.
But no matter, when he faced Arnark, nothing worked, for the other party was capable of sealing everything with a single word.
"The Main Character's Core Skill…" He sighed in the end, returning to the hill, muttering, "Khun, I haven't been doing a good enough job."
He stared at the house he had conjured, shaking his head as he was tired, deciding to rest as he opened the door, startled to see a figure seated in the living room, gently sipping some tea.
It was a youth, a Human Warrior sporting jet-black hair with auburn eyes, his chiselled face highlighted by the setting sun's rays. He was calmly waiting there, having appeared there bypassing Gilthru's senses.
Though, Gilthru's attention wasn't on the man, but rather on what he perceived through his senses, staring at a humongous monster invisible to the senses of everyone else, coiled around the youth's head, his voice solemn as he spoke, "Why have you come here,"
"Yifa?"
