In the 28 years from 1988 to 2016, 68 people were trampled to death by elephants in Xishuangbanna, Pu'er and other places, 320 people were injured by elephants, and agricultural losses exceeded 30 billion yuan.

For fellow villagers, elephants are undoubtedly a hidden danger in life. They are afraid of encountering elephants when they go out, and they are afraid that the crops they have planted so hard will be ruined by elephants. The gestation period of elephants is as long as 22 months, and each litter can only give birth to one head. It can only regenerate at an interval of five or six years.

The death of the baby elephants made the elephants extremely violent, and they were hostile to humans for a period of time, creating a lot of panic in the local area.

In another family, the daughter-in-law of the family came out to go to the toilet when an elephant came into the yard. Seeing that he was about to rush past, the man quickly came out and shot the elephant with a shotgun. The shot just hit the vulnerable spot behind the female elephant's ear, killing her directly.

The mother elephant is still pregnant, and the elephant herd is going to die of anger. Afraid of retaliation by the elephant herd, the fellow had to report to the police and was arrested for illegally possessing firearms.
