#285 - Shrine Guard
Kru was an orc. He didn't know who his parents were. From birth, he was a commodity in the hands of slave traders.
As an orc, he had a body stronger than ordinary people from a young age. At sixteen, Kru was nearly two meters tall. Looking at his large frame and the muscles bulging all over his body, he didn't look like a teenager at all, but rather like those guards who worked for big merchants.
However, the unusually thick fluff on Kru's face clearly indicated his orc identity.
"Recruit Kru, you idiot! Get out here!"
Outside New Moon City, in a modern military base, an angry roar suddenly rang out.
Kru shrank inside the barracks. Hearing this roar, he shivered in fright, instinctively wanting to escape, but then he thought of the instructor's terror and walked out of the barracks, trembling all over.
The soldiers of other classes in the barracks were also attracted by this roar, all sticking their heads out to watch the excitement.
"What are you looking at! Get back in!" the instructor roared. The other soldiers were so frightened that they all shrank back like rabbits in a flash.
"Report, Instructor! Recruit Kru reporting to you!"
Although Kru was only sixteen years old, his voice was not small. The clone instructor stood in front of him, his ears buzzing from his huge voice.
He looked at the orc recruit in front of him, who was almost as tall as himself, and the anger in his chest surged up again. "Recruit Kru, you are the dumbest of all the recruits I've ever trained!"
"Yes, Instructor!" Kru responded loudly.
"Attention!"
Kru immediately stood at attention, waiting for the instructor's punishment without looking sideways.
"How long have you been learning to drive the T-1 power armor?"
"One month and seven days, Instructor!"
The instructor nodded. "One month and seven days. Do you know how many days it takes for the average recruit in this military camp to skillfully drive the mech?"
"I don't know, Instructor!"
"Three days!" The instructor said, raising the whip in his hand and whipping Kru hard on the back, making a crisp "啪" sound. "Tell me, others can learn to drive the mech in three days. Why can't you learn it after more than a month?"
After being whipped, Kru's sturdy body trembled instinctively, and then, as if nothing had happened, he stood there motionless like a sculpture.
"Or are you orcs just born idiots? Maybe I should report to the higher-ups that the Godly Army should no longer accept orc slaves as recruits!"
Kru's expression changed drastically when he heard this.
He knew that becoming a soldier in the Godly Army was the fastest way to get rid of his slave status. According to the laws of New Moon City, slaves who want to obtain civilian status need to make enough contributions to New Moon City, and joining the army is one of the fastest ways.
Kru had been training under this black-faced instructor for more than a month, and he knew that his instructor was a man of his word.
If the qualification of orc slaves to become recruits was cancelled because of him, he might be torn to pieces by those angry orc slaves.
"Report, Instructor! I can do it!"
"Then show me!"
"Yes!" Kru roared at the top of his lungs.
The training ground of the military base was very large, even smaller than the sub-districts of New Moon City in terms of area. Its main purpose was to allow soldiers to learn to drive the T-1 power armor.
The driving difficulty of the T-1 power armor is very low. As a highly intelligent mech, it is itself a military weapon that is easy to learn but difficult to master. This can be seen from the fact that Fang Cheng used it as equipment in the game Under the Starry Sky.
With the help of the consciousness transfer device, the Godly Army soldiers from another world mastered this military equipment much more easily than imagined.
But Kru was an exception. Orcs do learn to drive mechs much slower, but Kru was the first to be so slow.
"Ka!" "Ka!" "Ka!"
Kru was sweating profusely, driving the mech and walking staggeringly on the training ground.
"Walk steadily! Balance! Balance! You idiot!"
The clone instructor was yelling loudly from the side, but the more he yelled, the more nervous Kru became. He sat in the cockpit of the mech, controlling the mech's steps with his consciousness. Gradually, Kru found a little sense of driving, and the mech's steps became more and more steady.
In the end, the mech could even walk freely on the square.
"This fool has finally figured it out," the instructor muttered, a smile appearing on the corner of his mouth.
New Moon City, in front of a magnificent hotel.
The pedestrians around the hotel had all been evacuated by the city guards of New Moon City. The entire sixteen-story hotel was surrounded by clone warriors driving mechs.
"Is she inside?"
Fang Cheng turned his head and looked at Ellie, the half-elf slave with a nervous face.
Ellie swallowed and stammered, "Princess Vivian has been living here, she should... should not have left."
Fang Cheng nodded, raised his hand, and waved forward.
Behind him, a group of clone warriors holding Gauss rifles filed in.
A dozen minutes later.
Vivian came out. Behind her were two teams of fully armed clone warriors. Being approached by so many formal knight-level clone warriors, even a high-level apprentice would be in danger of losing his life, let alone Vivian, who was only a mid-level apprentice.
"Fang Cheng, what do you mean by this?"
Vivian was wearing a light blue dress, which was the style of clothing on Earth. Obviously, Vivian had been shopping a lot these days. It's just that the silver-white collar around her neck ruined her soft beauty. It was a magic-forbidden collar made of anti-magic metal.
Fang Cheng looked at Vivian's small face full of anger and felt a little apologetic. After all, he was doing something a little despicable by targeting a little girl for the sake of the Water of Life.
"Princess," Fang Cheng put his right fist on his chest, "I hope to trade something with your elf clan."
"Is this the way you trade in New Moon City?"
Vivian lowered her head, glanced at the magic-forbidden collar, and had a disdainful expression on her face.
Fang Cheng was not angry when he heard her sarcastic words, and continued, "Sorry, Princess, I need a bottle of the Water of Life."
When Vivian heard this, her expression changed drastically, and she scolded, "You damn native, what do you want the Water of Life for?"
Fang Cheng was a little strange when he heard Vivian call him a native, but he didn't think much about it. "Princess, I just hope to use your clan's Water of Life to save people."
Vivian looked at him suspiciously, with a strong look of vigilance in her eyes.
The two looked at each other for a moment.
Vivian's red lips parted slightly, "The Water of Life is too important to us, we can't possibly trade it with you."
Vivian shook her head.
Fang Cheng sighed softly when he saw her firm eyes. Sure enough, the result was the same as he expected.
